I liked the condom ad after the teaser video more than the teaser video itself.

Yay! I had the fear that this wouldn't be localised to the UK. Now what about the DLC for the original........

This is truly a great game. I wish more people would have tried it. I actually just beat the game a month ago. The story was on par with most grade A RPGs. Excellent, excellent game.

I very much agree. One of the very pleasant surprises to me was that I would've expected a character like Welkin to, at some point, resist being drawn into war. He's clearly a pacifist at heart, so the predictable route would have been to have him dragged kicking and screaming into any kind of war effort. Yet Welkin is mature enough to realize that this is a situation where he needs to take up arms to defend his land, even if he is not a fighter by nature.
Good writing. I'm very pleased to see a follow-up, even if it's on the PSP.

It's a shame that VC didn't sell nearly as well as it should have on the PS3. Some people need to do some light digging and find this gem...

I suppose the Roman numeral "II" fits well with the 'V' in "Valkyria" in the logo, but the Arabic numeral '2' in the Japanese logo added a nice splash of color. Maybe if they made the 'V' and "II" both golden here. Bookend-like.
At any rate, I am quite pleased with this news. I hope we will still have UMDs at that point (and that this gets a UMD release, in addition to the required PSN release). This is one game where I'd really rather have a packaged product.

I really don't see how VC wasn't advertised very well.. I saw ads for it in enough issues of EGM, and a few posters in various GameStops around where I live.. But last November was very crowded...

This seems like 1 of those games that people generally enjoyed, but for some reason did not sell well and because of that a lot of us have been weary of the purchase, especially considering the game does not go on sale that much...
DID ANYBODY ON HERE NOT LIKE THE GAME.. (that played it) ?
ive been meaning to pick it up eventually, but there is so much to play now for me.
i just picked up LBP and didnt think i would be playing that game yet....

For those who haven't picked it up yet, Walmart is selling the original VC new for $19.99.

Most useful comment I've ever seen. Awesome, I loved the demo, but the price-point was sadly a deterrent until now (I'm broke). Totally going to check it out w00t!

I really enjoyed the demo of this game, but like many games I really enjoy; a 69.99 price point (Canada) keeps me from enjoying it to the full extent...
I heard it's dropped in price recently, so it might be time to pick this up.

In addition to the already mentioned, and clamoured for VC trophy patch, I wish VC2 would be "deploying" on the PS3.

We're in an awkward position. VC2 needs to sell well enough to guarantee another sequel ... but if it sells too well, the PSP may become the franchise's permanent home.
But whatever, I'm getting a PSP just for this. (Well, for this and MGS: Peace Walker.)

love this game! great story, great gameplay. my favorite on the system, so far.
i still havent beat it, though. on chapter 14 i think. must be getting close.
im bummed about the sequel being on the psp, as i cant justify getting a psp just for this game. i hardly ever use my ds, just dont have much time for mobile gaming.

Last of sales? How about to put it on more than one console? If you are not meeting the target sales for a game but still believe you have a great game like it's the case here, you should do something about it and port it to other console to gather audience. Of course, you need a minimum level of logics to understand this, which Sega has prooven time and time again they lack.
I do not own a ps3 and don't intend on buying one. If that game was released on 360, I would buy it. They should do the same as Eternal Sonata and Tales of Vesperia and port the game to another console to broaden the audience.

As depressing as it seems, I suspect sales would have been even lower had it been multiplatform. Being exclusive to one platform helped increase internet hype, which has been the main driving force behind the game's sales in the West.
But really, its sales haven't been *that* bad. It's outsold almost all JRPGs that have come out on the two HD consoles (including Star Ocean 4), despite being part of the niche SRPG genre.

Biggest problem with Sega is how stupid its marketing division has been. Valkyria Chronicles was basically left outside to freeze in the cold. If my friend didn't show it to me when I visited his house, I would have never known that it had already been released for the PS3.

I can't help but think that this type of game is perfect for the PSP, and the original my have worked nicely on it. I haven't played much of the first one yet, but I like the idea of it being portable. I think it's a good call. I just hate seeing franchises cross over platforms (although I luckily have a PSP).

...before I get flamed out for being a fanboy let me clarify: it's not that I'm clamoring for exclusivity. I like multi-platform releases, I just don't want to get excluded for not having every platform out there.

Well damn, 2010 is going to be the greatest year in gaming from January and on, isn't it?
Not that I'm complaining, mind you :)
Also, I hope this game has some sort of big package with a soundtrack, art book, and other such stuff. Even if it was exclusive somewhere or only for pre-orders, I want a nice big VC package to put on display and show my love.

They summed it up right there: "...a heartbreakingly small portion of the gaming population..." VC deserved better, and I'm keeping it forever [just like FFVII and other classics I'll be treasuring forever].
