'Exclusive' Assassin's Creed 2 retailer content eventually unlocked for all
Assassin's Creed 2 creative director Patrice Désilets wants everyone to play his game. More importantly, he wants everyone to play all of his game, regardless of the numerous in-game bonuses being used to incentivize pre-orders. The candid creator told Kotaku that those who stalk their prey with a little more patience won't miss out on the extra missions. "Eventually everyone will have the entire game," Désilets said.
While it's nice that Ubisoft intends to "unlock everything" in Ezio's rampage, the one thing none of us will get -- no matter who you pre-order from -- is a conclusive ending to the franchise. As Désilets told us during E3 2009, "At the end of AC2 you'll say‚ 'Holy crap, I never saw it coming.'"

Good job, Ubi!
Down with pre-orders!
Jawmuncher (PSN & XBL:Jawmuncher) @ Sep 17th 2009 3:39PM
Just going to throw this out there.
Would have been better if they just didn't bother with pre-order and exclusive DLC to begin with. Why not let every get the full game from the get go?
deaftly @ Sep 17th 2009 4:42PM
What exactly is sooo bad about preordering games again? The free stuff you get or being able to pay off a game a little at a time before it comes out? Oh wait this is the internet.

The bad thing about pre-orders is that they're unnecessary. When's the last time you couldn't get a new game on day one? For console launches they're a good idea. Game releases? Not really. The other reason is that GameStop makes money off of the interest your pre-order money makes by sitting there. Do they pass that on to you in any way? No.

Quentin Tarantino ending: 3 hour cut scene involving Ezio wading through knee deep blood and contemplating on the horrible things he has done while maintaining a sadistic smile on his face. he then joins up with Altair and Desmond. This is explained through the splintered sub-plot footage showing Desmond rewiring the Animus to travel through time and pick-up his long dead ancestors. They then use the animus to return to the present time and finally defeat the Templars.

Surprise buttsex is part of every assassin tranning.
Pretty much the same way ninjas can use silenced shotguns.
djbuhhda @ Sep 17th 2009 4:05PM
yeh they change the game to ASS-ASSins creed, its about raping everyone now, not killing.
Geist @ Sep 17th 2009 4:09PM
I would play that game because it would be awesome and you know it.
Snowblind @ Sep 17th 2009 3:31PM
I expect to have the entire game as soon as I buy it. It shouldn't be an "eventual" thing.
Cornelius @ Sep 17th 2009 4:00PM
So you're opposed to free DLC, a la Burnout Paradise?
Snowblind @ Sep 17th 2009 4:04PM
I like free content, and I don't even mind paying for new content that's been released after the game is out.
However, I *don't* like pre-order bonuses that include content that we should have from the get go. Limited editions are becoming really bad for this lately too, including a making of disc, some little freebies and maybe an artbook or soundtrack was one thing, but locking out parts of the game just to make people pay more, or order from specific places is just evil.
Viney @ Sep 17th 2009 4:39PM
Snowblind, but you do have to figure, that with a lot of pre-order content, some of that stuff wouldn't exist at all if retailers didn't pay to fund the development of it in the first place.
If developers were cutting out chunks of content to then sell to retailers as exclusive bonuses I'd completely agree. But I believe that most of this stuff is created because of exclusivity deals.
Snowblind @ Sep 17th 2009 4:50PM
Mm, I'm not sure I buy that, at least not for most games.
Look at Ultimate Alliance 2, for example. You have to pre-order if you want to play as Juggernaut. He's not a character that would have taken a lot of extra time to program in (he was in the original) and I'm pretty sure he would have been playable anyway, since it has other villians in there too.
Viney @ Sep 17th 2009 5:19PM
But from what I understand of the MUA2 situation, is those characters were always planned for DLC purchases. You could buy playable Juggernaut for 1.99 last week before they realized their mistake and took it down and put up the patch that they meant to put up that allows you to play with someone that already has him. The existence of that patch alone tells you they planned on adding him as a DLC purchase and not as an original unlockable in the game, or he would have already been in there. So if some retailer wants to foot the bill now just for pre-ordering with them, what's wrong with that? You're getting something for free now that they were planning on charging you for down the road, just for giving them your business.
Solace @ Sep 17th 2009 3:33PM
Finally! Enough with they retarded store exclusive pre-order garbage! Put a game out and include everything you set out to add in the game.
Mr. Manly ESC Mcbeefington Ferguson The Second @ Sep 17th 2009 3:47PM
It would be awesome they did that for MAG.
I want to play Valor and SVER.
RKN @ Sep 17th 2009 3:36PM
Even the PS3 exclusive content will be unlocked, the content that needs a PSP and the PSP game to unlock?
Cheesus(Crust) @ Sep 17th 2009 3:41PM
I hope not. PS3 needs stuff like this, and the 360's deserves it, since they are keeping the MW2 DLC and GTA DLC!
Mr. Manly ESC Mcbeefington Ferguson The Second @ Sep 17th 2009 3:46PM
MW2 DLC? When did that happen?
Actually I love the Ps3 bonuses but they take a while to get to the international PSN.Nowadays I prefer the PSN since the Xbox live markeplace ate my Call of Duty World at War code om nom nom.
Cheesus(Crust) @ Sep 17th 2009 4:35PM
MW2 gets timed DLC for 360.,
RKN @ Sep 17th 2009 4:56PM
I'd like all the content to come to the PC version at least, we are not part of the console wars. : )
Come on Microsoft, bring the GTA4 DLC to PC!!! > : (
Mr. Manly ESC Mcbeefington Ferguson The Second @ Sep 17th 2009 3:39PM
:D
Including the PSP bonuses? I wanted the X360 version since I have my AC1 data there but I wouldn't mind buying the PS3 version for the PSP bonuses,I was going to get the PSP game anyway.
The portable Assassin's creed games play pretty much like Prince of Persia with some added gimmicks.
BunnySlapper @ Sep 17th 2009 3:42PM
