Guys, please correct me if I'm wrong but as far as I know (and I'm pretty certain of that), each DLC pack will cost 10$ (it costs that on 360? I don't know...)...

I DO want to get them all. So its 5 DLCs packs for 10$ each... That makes 50$..

Please someone tell me I'm wrong :/

Because otherwise it would make more sense just selling my Fallout 3 and buying the new GOTY one, I would save quite some money...

I think this and the Little Big Planet GOTY bundle really aim to thwart used games sales on their year old products. It also gets more people interested in the game by presenting it as having many accolades and having included additional value with premium DLC.

These GOTY editions are a great strategy no matter how you look at it and are a great deal for consumers.

Why buy the used game for $49.99 when you can get a brand new copy with all or most of the DLC included for free?

This is the type of thing that developers & publishers have to do so that used games aren't as attractive to consumers.

What comes with the LBP GOTY? Anything actually worthwhile like the MGS or GoW stuff, or is it just extra levels? I never got it because I hated the platforming in the demo, but I was considering picking it up one day down the road.

@j#5: Yeah that is a pretty clever strategy. And the fact that I can own a disc with all the content and patches there is pretty tempting for a $10 premium. I just hope that unlike my MGS "subtance" disc, the GOTY edition takes into account that my save file belongs to the same game.

Do the skills go above 100 with the expansion? If they don't, I'll feel silly for spending all that time running around collecting books... I'm at 90+ on all my skills except "Barter" (who cares) and "Unarmed" (punch them, or make them goo with the Alien Blaster? not a hard choice!)

Some of my skills are 100(+) but whatever, at level 30 you're a God anyway (except for those damned Ghoul Reavers. Eff those guys!)

I keep getting sidetracked from this on the PC due to various reasons (graphics card died, other games, etc). I would like to eventually get the DLC. It sounds like it would make about as much sense for me to just rebuy the whole thing again than to buy the DLC seperately.

Maybe there will be a good steam sale by the time I get far enough into the game for it to matter.

That said, I'm not sure how excited I'm going to be about playing the GOTY edition, since Uncharted 2 drops on Oct 13th as well.

I'm sure that Uncharted is going to be awesome and all (spoiler alert: it will be awesome) but they're calling this a GOTY edition for a reason. If you haven't played Fallout 3 yet, get it 2 weeks after Uncharted (which, unless it's DRASTICALLY longer than the first, you'll beat in a week with a week left over to dabble in multiplayer) and you'll be wandering the Wasteland until at least Xmas.

^ Oh, I'm definitely going to buy and play GOTY.

It's just that I've been waiting so long for this, that the excitement's already kind of diminished (as opposed to Uncharted 2, where the beta has me wildly entertained right now).

Regular F3 will be getting traded in, GOTY edition will be bought.
I did the same with Oblivion. I HATE DLC. Not because I didn't get it, I'm an Xboxer, but I really would rather have a disc than a pile of binary. Same goes for CDs.

@ Xoonaka

I'm not concerned with saving/getting money back , I just want to Play. I got no issues with not being able to get any money back.

Sure if I sold my current copy most i'd get is $30 for trade-in maybe less now with GOTY edition a month away, that leaves me paying $40 out of pocket for GOTY, i could get back $30 from that when done thus making the entire Fallout3 experience cost me $80 dollars($70 FA3 + $70 FA3:GOTY=$140 total- $60 trade-in) whereas $70+$50($10 per DLC * 5) = $120

I save a whole $40 ,... To me the mere $40 saved + hassle of trading in(closest place is 25mins each way, 50mins driving total,. which adds like $10 in gas making it only $30 saved) the original version and then having to wait makes it totally not worth the Wait. I'll get em on PSN as they come out.

Now if All the DLC and the GOTY edition were being released on the exact same day then I'd trade in and go for GOTY for sure, but thats not the case & I just don't do waiting when I don't have to LOL

if you bought the game on pc and didn't buy any dlc because windows live is utterfail, bethesda has been releasing dlc discs at retail you can buy called addon packs, the packs cost 20 bucks so far with two dlc per, so its the exact same price as on live market, except you don't have to deal with that live bs. the only issue is there is no word on if there will be a mothership zeta addon pack (which was the last dlc)

http://fallout.bethsoft.com/eng/info/faq.html - all info on the first two addon packs

if you already bought the game but didn't buy any dlc, but you don't want to buy the game of the year edition, you could wait a bit longer and see if they release an addon pack with all the dlc, similar to what they did eventually with oblivion.

speaking of live, this addon for the game http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=1086 disables games for windows live, meaning you can finally uninstall it, i've been playing this way for months now, it works very well! no problems

I'm ashamed to admit I didn't buy the PC version originally because I didn't think it was a GFW game and I wanted achievements. Maybe I'll buy this version and redeem myself.

Play.com has the ps3 and 360 goty versions for preorder price of 42.99€

Considering the original games are 32.49€, it is a pretty nice deal.

Am I one of the very few people who doesn't resell their old games? (I doubt it, but I ask b/c of the amount of people here talking about that...) From what it looks like, I save $10 NOT buying a new version. Are people worried that their HDDs are going to fail? Even if so, one has always been able to re-download their stuff from the PSN, so...?

I'm excited to play the DLC! Shelved the game waiting for it...

Well, you can just download the DLCs again without cost if your harddrive fails. So the GOTY Edition is mostly for new players, correct.

I'm considering selling mine (A friend just got $30 for his at Gamestop last week) and buying the GOTY.

I have all the DLC except Zeta, so I'll be out $20 in the end, but I'll be able to delete all the DLC (which takes up a bunch of space on my 20GB hard drive)

Should I buy Broken Steel or should I buy a later DLC first? Will I get passed LVL 30 in any of the DLCs? Passed 40?

you want broken steel. it ups the level cap to 30 and removes the games ending so you can keep playing. nowhere does anyone say anything about level 40.

they are labeling all tpes of games now as game of the year, they need to be more selective and not just pushing games out the dorr for sole purpose of a profit. http://www.rainbowofluv.com
