Guys, if you haven't been keeping up with Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising, then brace your butt for the first glimpse at its massive multiplayer action. The latest trailer comes from the game's official site, and impresses us not only through the sheer scale of the maps shown, but also -- oh man, did you see that helicopter blow up everything?
some of my best multiplayer experiences were had when i was playing the original flashpoint CTI mode online. command and conquer mixed with zone control = FUN!
i am hoping this game will bring the awesomeness that is tactical shooting back
is it just me or does operation flashpoint sounds a bit TOO badass? i wonder if they thought 'hey, these are some badass war words, lets put em all together?'
A comic is one thing, but an interactive video game is another. Sure, it's a component, but it's far less important than gameplay in the grand scheme of things. Even if the NBA Live series looked 10x better than the 2K series it would still suck if it didn't play nearly as well as 2K, if you catch my drift.
No, I didn't mean to compare the graphics between MAG and this game but rather the way this game is set-up. It feels more like a team assault unit than what MAG has shown so far. I just had higher hopes for MAG to really be more than just the number of people playing and be more about an all out tactical warfare kinda feel.
man, it looks awesome but i hate it when they do the foreign teams in actual foreign language is. Dont fucking tell me "capriyt planye de voyut" if our flag just got picked up!
like the characters in COD4 yelling something that sounds like "buttered woman". I suppose they want you to learn the language in order to survive, REALISM TO THE MAX
well yeah in CoD they say stuff in Russian or Arabic or Japanese or whatever, but they say the important stuff in english. At least they do in WaW i dont really remember in 4, but it's the worst in the battlefields
different languages can actually be used to your advantage. When the other team calls out for fire support, assistance, whatever you can hear where they are. If they did that all in the same language you wouldn't be able to tell immediately if it was your team or the opponent.
Looks like MAG with a bit of more Battlefield feel. I'm going with MAG this time. (Their is too many FPS's out there and I'm limiting it too MAG and ODST.) I need to check out other genres of gaming.
Sadly I never played GR for whatever reason. However I did play a fair amount of Rainbow Six Ravenshield back in the day. Man was that fun.
I think the prison, meatpacking, & training ground maps were my favs. It was always fun rigging the doors w/ C4 & camping. It was also amusing for people to argue via chat in the game whether or not someone was camping or if it was strategic or not. People would bitch if you used smoke 'nades because it was cause lag on the server. Using the heartbeat sensor or the heartbeat sensor jammer was fun too.
For some reason there was a huge amount of servers that were French or German. That was always "fun".
*sigh* Those were the days...that being said I'm gonna have to consider adding this one to my must buy list.
I loved the original, I remember practicing for hours on end to take out helicopter pilots while in the air with a sniper. There was nothing more satisfying than seeing the helicopter crash after the shot.
I'm not sure whether or not I should get the game but I might be swayed if they were offering a collector's edition or even a pre-order bonus. Any news?
I just hope it's better than OFP1's online multiplayer where you could spend the entire round searching for someone to shoot before being picked off by a sniper miles away disguised as a row of hedges!!
I remember playing the first one on my dual celeron, voodoo 3 3500 equipped gaming beast (lolz). I seem to recall a section where you end up in some woods, alone, with next to no weapons then being hunted by a helo. The sense of dread, accompanied with a muttered "Oh...balls...".....
