Rock Band mobile out now, Verizon gets it first

R--k -and mobi-- is avail-- now on Ver--on pho-es. *Switches over from AT&T.* Can you hear us now? Good! Rock Band for mobile phones is available now on the Verizon network. The game includes 25 songs and comes with "cooperative multiplayer" and "Pass-n-Play" modes, as well as the standard "Tour" mode, where players can perform with any instrument -- as long as that instrument's interface is the phone's keypad.

Rock Band mobile costs $4 for a monthly subscription and $10 for a "one-time use on more than 30 handsets." We were a bit confused about that line, so we contacted Verizon, and the provider confirmed that a $10 payment unlocks the game for "unlimited use." So there you have it!

I carry around my Ti-83 for tetris.

I don't have ears so I use my zune as a phone.

I will buy a smartphone when my current phone dies. But fat chance of that because my phone is built out of fucking metal. It's indestructible.

It fell out of my pocket on the highway on my motorcycle, and lived. Let's see an iPhone do that.

*Raises hand* I'll probably get a smart phone when my contract runs out and I can switch providers though.

Don't give Verizon much credit on the typo up there. As a soon-to-be former customer, I can tell you that Verizon is the biggest rip-off when it comes to media I've ever seen.

Cool, wonder if it does DLC like Guitar Hero Mobile.

I hope EA/MTV would think of the iPhone and do a port of it-without a monthly subscription of course.

I'll wait for the iPod Touch version, which I'm sure will be better.

Each time you play a song, it has to download to your phone temporarily and then get deleted when you're done. It adds up quiiiiiiiiickly, and you have to pay $1.99 per mb...

If anyone has either a Nano, Classic or 5th generation Nano, Classic and 5th generation iPod there's a game called Phase, that's like these games except you can play any song.

The game's great, but I can tell you right now those are NOT real screenshots.

Your dig at AT&T must simply be a personal issue. Maybe they killed your dog or something. I, however, was a Verizon customer for three years until I got fed up with getting ripped off, receiving bad customer support, and experiencing numerous dropped calls and bad signals. I've been with AT&T for nearly four years, and I'm trying really hard to come up with one complaint.

I love Rock Band, but this is the DUMBEST idea I've ever heard of. Pretend to play a guitar on a phone, while listening to music from your shitty earpiece speaker... Who buys this crap?

Well, not everyone has a crappy phone, and not everyone uses the earpiece for games. 9 times out of 10, I'm using headphones when I play games on my phone, especially when it's music-based like this game is. If they make an iPhone/iTouch version of this game, I'll be all over it.
