Star Wars: Jedi Knight series arrives on Steam in force

A short time ago, on a website as close as your keyboard, LucasArts launched its latest retro revival on Steam. While previously the publisher had brought several of its classic adventure games to the service, this time it's all Star Wars -- the entire Jedi Knight series, to be specific.
The five games are being offered as a set for $19.99, though, should you find yourself short oncredits cash and/or just want a particular installment, these are the prices you're looking for: Star Wars: Dark Forces and Jedi Knight: Dark Forces II at $4.99 apiece; Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast and Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy for $9.99 each; and Jedi Knight: Mysteries of the Sith at $2.99. May the bandwidth be with you.

The Star Wars theme is now playing in your head.
Courtney @ Sep 17th 2009 12:41AM
Wrong, the Superman theme is now playing in my head...though I have no idea why.
Einhanderkiller @ Sep 17th 2009 12:44AM
You are now breathing manually.
Mr. Manly ESC Mcbeefington Ferguson The Second @ Sep 17th 2009 1:04AM
Wrong again,artificial lungs.
Amun @ Sep 17th 2009 2:39AM
Oh god I can't breathe. Autopilot ftw..... *gasp*
Nate @ Sep 17th 2009 12:07AM
God yes! Thank you! Excellent! I need it to be next month so I have more money now!
MR_COW @ Sep 17th 2009 12:07AM
I grew up on JK: DF2. It is probably the most influential game of my life. I played it for hours upon hours on MSN Zone.
drumwiz86 @ Sep 17th 2009 3:46AM
MSN ZONE? OMG, you're takin me back
DF2 ftw
WiNG [XBL&Steam: WiNGSPANTT] from lifeinagame.com @ Sep 17th 2009 11:01AM
This was one of the first games I played online, where I met all the worst hackers I've ever met in a game. I was in one game where a fellow was playing as a TIE fighter, shooting missiles that looked like mines and that stopped and floated in midair. Of course, touching one meant death. But standing still also meant death to that dark side ultra power vision.
Goddammit.
Callaway @ Sep 17th 2009 3:42PM
Ahh the zone. Good times. I used to play as MERC_Callaway
MERC, DH, IRN, JaG, EoS, Atomic, JCS, Jihad (tools), KDD (more tools), Element (all those tourneys Element_God put together), TaX, TWC, DsB, WD, JE (hahaha, those guys were hilarious with their "yes sir" crap).
I miss playing Oasis. =*(
B0E0S @ Sep 17th 2009 3:49PM
Same here. I just recently installed it to bring back the memories.
mutd1999 @ Sep 17th 2009 4:29PM
Damn...all those old school Week of War tournaments held by BSC for DF2 and JKO....shit that was fun.
Kenjis9965 @ Sep 17th 2009 6:26PM
That was the first online game i ever played :) I remember waiting months for that game to come out..
Now come on! X-Wing! TIE Fighter! :D
Premature ejaculation man @ Sep 17th 2009 12:10AM
I want a new blue milk run please!
Wardo @ Sep 17th 2009 12:10AM
I've really only played Dark Forces but it was a great game as I recall.
Bradwart @ Sep 17th 2009 12:11AM
Just bought Jedi Academy for the Xbox today...paid alot more than that.
Travis @ Sep 17th 2009 12:15AM
Ive only played Jedi Outcast, and I've really really been wanting to play the first ones and Jedi Academy. I can't find the first ones anywhere and JA costs way too much, so this is really awesome. I think I'm going to buy this collection.
SharpShooter @ Sep 17th 2009 12:13AM
I highly recommend Jedi Academy to anyone remotely interested in Star Wars and online play. The mod Moviebattles (moviebattles.com) GREATLY improves the online and is still a bit active (like 20ish servers).
The Dark Wayne @ Sep 17th 2009 12:16AM
Dark Forces was the first FPS i ever played, and even though i never got past the first level i always loved it
AoE @ Sep 17th 2009 12:26AM
Now's your chance to see what wonders level 2 holds!
Demo @ Sep 17th 2009 12:18AM
Jedi Outcast consumed so many hours of my life.
NukeAssault @ Sep 17th 2009 1:57AM
It consumed 6 years of mine. =|
mutd1999 @ Sep 17th 2009 4:29PM
Listen here, Nuke. Lightsaber Comics blows.
***FYI so I don't get flamed, I know Nuke from back in those JKO days. :P***
CaramelZappa @ Sep 17th 2009 12:22AM
I might pick some of these up. Jedi Outcast and Academy were all I played for a while
Bradwart @ Sep 17th 2009 12:25AM
Can anyone explain why the old Xbox had SO MANY Star Wars games, most of which were good, but no love for the current platforms?
I mean, we had KotOR 1 and 2, Battlefront 1 and 2, Republic Commando, Jedi Academy, Jedi Outcast,. Jedi Starfighter, Clone Wars, Episode III. Current platforms have TFU...
Jonny @ Sep 17th 2009 12:28AM
Probably because back when the original Xbox was out, Episodes II and III were being released/made.
That and because it was basically a PC made it easy and dirtcheap to port over the PC games made in the past few years.
CaramelZappa @ Sep 17th 2009 12:34AM
I felt like the Force Unleashed could have been really good if the camera wasn't so useless.
iHavepants {SteamPSN: Arkanti} @ Sep 17th 2009 4:48AM
And if the lightsabers were not glowing rubber sticks.
Urza @ Sep 17th 2009 12:27AM
Niiiiiice.. but I have them all already. :)
articat @ Sep 17th 2009 12:36AM
Now PLEASE port these over to XBLA (and PSN, don't wanna leave anyone out)!
mddurden @ Sep 17th 2009 12:37AM
Picked this up right when it came out. I was enjoying some Dark Forces earlier. Can't wait to get to part two...bring on the lightsabers!
Dan Bugglin @ Sep 17th 2009 12:47AM
Note that DF, JK, and MotS are just the same versions as their CD releases but with minor configuration tweaks and LA-sanctioned no-CD cracks. JK/MotS in particular have big problems with newer systems and graphics cards. DF has DOSBox so everything is great except there's no Steam option for launching the external config program to remap keys and such... and they already remapped the keys to WASD so if you want to use the arrow keys like the classic game you gotta figure out how to use DOSBox to launch the config tool (I fortunately am a DOSBox and command prompt master).
The lack of fixes can probably be attributed to the lack of source code (LA lost the source to JK a while back).
JO and JA appear to simply have been recompiled to remove CD checks, no problems there I'm guessing.
Dan Bugglin @ Sep 17th 2009 12:47AM
Oh yeah JK and MotS don't have music since they used CD audio tracks. No source code, no changing that!
mddurden @ Sep 17th 2009 12:58AM
I'm sad to hear that. I hope I don't run into too many problems with Jedi Knight! Thanks for preparing me though...at least I'm ready for it now. I think they should be honest if there are problems, I checked to see that it worked with Vista and that was it. Guess I should have done my homework!
mddurden @ Sep 17th 2009 1:22AM
That was stupid of me...the bottom of the description pages for JK/MOTS say there may be issues with modern hardware. I was just so excited to pick these up I missed it!
Daniel C. @ Sep 17th 2009 9:52AM
That stinks, those games had an amazing soundtrack.
Massmass @ Sep 17th 2009 10:55AM
Total bullshit. I can't believe they're being so stupid.
I was going to support them, thinking foolishly that they were making these modern friendly. I hope steam gets clustered fucked for supporting this bait and switch crap. Rebuild the damn games if you lost your source code. Weak excuses.
Burn in company hell Lucasarts...
Charlie_Six @ Sep 17th 2009 1:01AM
TIE Fighter please. It's a big headache getting the original TIE Fighter to run, iMuse intact and all.
time @ Sep 17th 2009 1:09AM
JEDI KNIGHT 2 IS AMAZING
EVERYONE GO PLAY MULTIPLAYER :D
NukeAssault @ Sep 17th 2009 2:17AM
20 bucks is quite the deal. Ive only played some of dark forces but i own JA and JO. great games at the time. When i procure the funds ill be sure to get this.
Stevetrop @ Sep 17th 2009 3:07AM
And just like that money flies out of my wallet. I think its some force powers that lucas arts has.
As if they have some dark force choke on my wallet.
Chris_Mac @ Sep 17th 2009 4:14AM
I used to like playing Jedi Outcast multiplayer on that level with the two walkways over a pit, I think it was in the Death Star/Generic Space station. All you had to do was power up your force push and knock everyone off the map for easy kills.
#Memories, Like the corners of my mind....#
Snowblind @ Sep 17th 2009 4:21AM
I've only ever played Jedi Knight 2 and Jedi Academy, a few months I wanted to go back and play the older ones but just couldn't get a hold of them, so this is perfect.
I'll definitely be getting this, when my wallet recovers from the Beatles Rockband.
t_m @ Sep 17th 2009 4:48AM
Jedi Knight and Mysteries of the Sith are two of the best FPS games ever. period.
I'd have picked them up again if they'd fixed the issues about them not running on modern systems... looks like there isn't a point at the moment.
Dark Forces was also awesome, thogh the newer ones were distinctly average (as with almost all recent star wars games).
+SAM+ @ Sep 17th 2009 6:43AM
These are some of my favourite games, will definitely buy these. Again.
Jim Whatshisname @ Sep 17th 2009 8:44AM
God, I've played through Jedi Academy way too many times. It wasn't quite as good as Outcast but the character customization, short varied levels and choices in force powers made it an absolute blast to replay over and over.
What I wouldn't give for a new Jedi Knight game with proper physics. So sad that TFU turned out to be garbage.
+SAM+ @ Sep 17th 2009 8:47AM
Yeah, a new JK game would be great so long as it's another Kyle based one.
Storm Eagle [Resident Capcom Megafan] @ Sep 17th 2009 9:51AM
Can I Jedi Mind Trick myself into buying these?
Otherwise I'll forget and be really mad at myself for doing so.
WiNG [XBL&Steam: WiNGSPANTT] from lifeinagame.com @ Sep 17th 2009 11:04AM
Nothing beats Force Throwing people off of cliffs in multiplayer.
Okay, well, pulling their weapons out of their hands and killing them with their own gun does.
vrq3 @ Sep 17th 2009 11:50AM
Any chance for another Jedi Knight game? Maybe set during the Yuuzahn Vong invasion?
