Uncharted 2 will tweet Trophies and multiplayer statistics
Naughty Dog is hell-bent on pushing the online functionality of Uncharted 2 beyond anything else on the PlayStation 3. The multiplayer demo reveals yet another new feature for the upcoming PS3 game: Twitter support. According to The BBPS, you'll be able to have the game automatically tweet updates whenever you connect to a multiplayer game, unlock a Trophy, or complete a single-player chapter. Twitter support is already live, as evidenced by these tweets from Naughty Dog's Arne Meyer and SCEA's Jeff Rubenstein.
The auto-tweets will send inquisitive readers to a detailed stats page on Naughty Dog's website. Here, you can see someone's kill/death ratio, career length, amount of virtual money, and more. Further details will be broken down in the "Match History," "Weapons" and "Medals" tabs -- but all those features are currently "coming soon."

I'm not a big fan of twitter in general, but this seems just silly.
Spike941 @ Sep 17th 2009 6:09AM
I'm really happy to see Twitter and gaming going hand in hand these days, although for entirely different reasons. I don't care about tweeting my trophies to people, but tweeting to game developers is a huge thing these days. Games like Uncharted 2 and NHL 10 wouldn't be half as awesome as they are without the direct feedback devs are now getting via Twitter. I also just love talking to devs and publishers. I lol at people who think Twitter is too useless and trendy to ever take off. Get with the times please.

Twitter is a huge step backwards for society and our intelligence as a whole.
Chris D.(PSN: Aggie_CEO | XBL:The Aggie CEO | Steam: Aggie_CEO @ Sep 17th 2009 8:56AM
a Step backward for Society!?!? When all that shit was going down in Iran a few months back that was damn near the only way the people there could get news out about whats going on....hell if I'm not mistaken China BLOCKS twitter for the same reasons they have an edited version of Google....
so to Say that Twitter is making us take a step back is just dumb...
Space @ Sep 17th 2009 9:33AM
Iranians should start a proper revolution, NOT tweet about their problems.
Snowblind @ Sep 17th 2009 9:34AM
Funny that Chris is so accepting of this when it's announced for a PS3 game. Weren't you one who was critising the 360 for implementing these features for Twitter and Facebook?
Chris D.(PSN: Aggie_CEO | XBL:The Aggie CEO | Steam: Aggie_CEO @ Sep 17th 2009 9:40AM
I don't recall BLASTING the 360 for adding them....most I remember saying is why is that not being made available to EVERYONE instead of just limited to Gold members....and also that the PS3 has been capable of doing it for a while via the Browser and that MS should just stop bullshitting and put a browser on the 360
and as for Iran starting a PROPER revolution...what good is going out in the streets and getting killed goin to do if the IRANIAN RUN TV channels will just call them TERRORIST and say they are Puppets put there by the US and Britain?? Ever hear "This revolution will not be televised"? yea...so they only have so many option as to getting OTHER people to know what is going on
Shagittarius @ Sep 17th 2009 11:11AM
I have a message to all the under 30 somethings out there in the world. No one gives a shit what your doing minute by minute or your opinions on every subject that crosses your mind.
It's simply a form of Mental masturbation.
el serpiente @ Sep 17th 2009 11:33AM
Who cares, some people who find it useful will use it, some people won't (i.e. myself). I can't see how having options is a bad thing.

Oh fuck me sideways until next tuesday. I hope Facebook doesn't have this kind of nonsense when it comes out for the 360. I really don't want to see the plethora of "Follow me on Twitter jo0 NoObz!!!!!11!1" when I lose a game in Halo or Call of Duty.

I don't care for Twitter at all myself, but this is one of the more creative uses I have seen come out of the service.

First game to have twitter support? I don't see what the point of it though. It's cool if you want people on twitter to know every little damn thing that you do, but isn't all this going to do is show them how antisocial you are?
Snowblind @ Sep 17th 2009 5:18AM
A lot of 360 games will support this with the coming Twitter/Facebook update. No idea if that will be before Uncharted.. But yeah, I don't really see the point.
I'd be annoyed constantly getting updates from my friends about trivial little things like trophies/achievements, and I don't plan on syncing my account with either to inflict that on others.
nighttime @ Sep 17th 2009 7:04AM
playing multi-player games is anti-social?
The Untitled Game Show @ Sep 17th 2009 5:43AM
nightime: hmm good point. Its only going show how little some people out side on the days they game,
alinos @ Sep 17th 2009 5:50AM
A) to the wider community playing video games isnt social , as social as been defined to me apparently requires other living beings to occupy a certain physical space :P
B) majority of the trophys are simgleplayer by my guess
C) when the game tweets JIMMY just KILLED 10,000 players in resistance 2
its anti social
D) when 5 minutes later it starts tweeting JIMMYs started playing BAD company JIMMYS GOING FOR 10001 KILLS here you have a problem :D
tweeting is another Lame fad where people are willing to tell me millions of useless facts that i nvr wanted to know
they say some gamers dont have a life
anyone who tweets gotta go to the loo BRB doesnt have a life or someone help im tweeting you from my phone call the cops for me
hmm dialling 911 is so much harder
mgsrocks1 @ Sep 17th 2009 6:04AM
@nightime: multi-player games can make you antisocial if you're not careful. Haha, you should have seen me when Call of Duty 4 came out. :P
And hey, I'm not saying don't tweet your kills. All I'm saying is it would get annoying when you get a tweet every minute saying he/she got a kill.
Brian @ Sep 17th 2009 5:21AM
This is actually pretty cool. We already have a bot in our irc channel that is hooked into windows live. The bot tells our channel things like who's playing, achievement points & when people get achievements etc. The twitter feed from a game could be used in a similar way.
wallywallas @ Sep 17th 2009 5:33AM
It would be more awesome if a Tweeter account would be created specifically for your PSN account, and have it completely separate from your personal account.
This way, you could follow the best players tweets, and you can ask them questions or strategies, without having to put them on your friends list. 100 spaces sounds like a lot, but it fills up pretty fast, so having an unlimited amount of followers, and being able to follow as many people as you want is way better.
I don't really want my friends and family having to read my "Played Uncharted 2 for 12 hours straight" trophy tweets, yaknowwataimeen?
Neptune @ Sep 17th 2009 5:54AM
Couldn't you just make separate twitter account yourself and use that strictly for gaming purposes?
Chris D.(PSN: Aggie_CEO | XBL:The Aggie CEO | Steam: Aggie_CEO @ Sep 17th 2009 7:13AM
100 Spaces isn't a lot...lol...I filled that up shortly after they upped it from 50 to 100

Twitter is amazing, I love it a lot. I am a recent subscriber. About a month. It's especially awesome if you have an add on for Firefox like TwitterFox. I am browsing random sites then I get a Twitter message saying PS3 Slim to be $299. Then go "oh shit" with excitement click on the link to read the article("wham!"). Or random PS3 Redeem Codes posted by random gaming media sites. Fucking awesome service. I hope PS3 gets full integrated functionality too.
Anyone that is a gamer should have Twitter and Twitterfox add on if you use Mozilla Firefox. Great way to connect with devs and give them feedback and get the latest gaming news from your favorite gaming sites. Like Joystiq.

I, like you, add Twitter accounts to my feed to get updates on new products/services/sites, or to get tweets from friends who work in the same industry. So even though I'm sure people won't be dying to know what I'm doing on Uncharted 2, it will still be an interesting add-on.
Chris D.(PSN: Aggie_CEO | XBL:The Aggie CEO | Steam: Aggie_CEO @ Sep 17th 2009 8:31AM
firefox is good and all but it sucks if you are following more than 100 people that tweet often...which is why I use TweetDeck....I can easily divide the people I follow into Columns...I have one for Family, Gaming(IGN, Joystiq, Kotaku, EA, Ubisoft), on for News(CNN, ABC, Local news channels and paper), Celebrities, VGEvo.com members, Models(I do photography) & Porn stars(sorry but some of them are HILARIOUS!!)
XBL: xGeneral DEATHx PSN: Deeth82 [Planeteer | Power of General Hostility and Angst] @ Sep 17th 2009 8:50AM
Tweetdeck is nice, I love the columned layout. I ended up using Twitterfox because it's discreet at work, and I don't follow quite that many accounts...and you're right, Chris: When I once had over 100 accounts to follow (in the beginning when it's just fun to add everybody), Twitterfox nearly choked to death.
Chris D.(PSN: Aggie_CEO | XBL:The Aggie CEO | Steam: Aggie_CEO @ Sep 17th 2009 8:53AM

CheeziePotato @ Sep 17th 2009 6:23AM

XBL: xGeneral DEATHx PSN: Deeth82 [Planeteer | Power of General Hostility and Angst] @ Sep 17th 2009 8:55AM
Someone is going to NOTICE Uncharted 2, that's the point. The point of advertising is to breed brand familiarity by showing your brand name as many times as possible. It gets into your subconscious. So yeah, what he said.
dan.da.trk @ Sep 17th 2009 6:36AM
people who use and follow twitters or what ever they fucking are, have no lives what so ever. still really wanting this game but the twitter thing is a gimmick and a half
NUFCRULE @ Sep 17th 2009 6:59AM
Twitter in uncharted 2 is only a option , calm down people
uncharted 2 is going to be great
you get single-player and multiplayer ,& co-op
everything else is just a bonus , cinema mode , twitter , all of it
so it kinda pisses me off when people moan about tiny things like this , that is completely optional
Dont care if you downvote me , this is Game Of The Year
even with modern warfare 2 & gran turismo 5 (possibly) coming out
Ashitaka @ Sep 17th 2009 7:21AM
inFamous, Killzone 2, Batman Arkham Asylum and Assassin's Creed 2 don't stand a chance either :P
Uncharted 2 being game of the year is almost as clear as Flower being most innovative game of the year and Noby Noby Boy being weirdest game of the year.
Ashitaka @ Sep 17th 2009 7:52AM
I must say I was talking just Playstation wise. Overall most innovative game of the year will go for Scribblenauts, for example.
