Naughty Dog is hell-bent on pushing the online functionality of Uncharted 2 beyond anything else on the PlayStation 3. The multiplayer demo reveals yet another new feature for the upcoming PS3 game: Twitter support. According to The BBPS, you'll be able to have the game automatically tweet updates whenever you connect to a multiplayer game, unlock a Trophy, or complete a single-player chapter. Twitter support is already live, as evidenced by these tweets from Naughty Dog's Arne Meyer and SCEA's Jeff Rubenstein.
The auto-tweets will send inquisitive readers to a detailed stats page on Naughty Dog's website. Here, you can see someone's kill/death ratio, career length, amount of virtual money, and more. Further details will be broken down in the "Match History," "Weapons" and "Medals" tabs -- but all those features are currently "coming soon."

I noticed it Tuesday when I seen Some people I am following have updates....would be nice to see that it came from Uncharted 2 instead of it saying just "API"
As for people saying they dont want countless updates from people that get trophies or achievements, either GET OFF OF TWITTER, OR deactivate the sending of EVERY TWEET to your cellphone via text... I was told I tweet too much(been in twitter "jail" numerous times) but its people that I follow that tweet more than me...So I don't think I'm that bad at all...
Fact is Social network is hear to stay and thats quite obvious...why?? because it helps connect people.....You people may not see this but with Uncharted 2 having Twitter Support AND posting "#Uncharted2" in EVERY TWEET they are going to be PROMOTING THERE STUFF FOR FREE!!! its FREE advertisement!! ESPECIALLY when it turns into a Trending Topic and pretty much stays there for a week or more from the heavy gameplay it will get.....doesnt get much better than that....

If you bother to comment on entires in a video game blog, you have no right in saying that people who use twitter have no lives. Its a useful service to stay connected to updating news bits from your favorite sites, etc.
You don't have to use the feature if you don't want to so stop bitching.

if you use it JUST to check site updates then yea it MAY be redundant....at the same time some sites use their twitters to give away codes for Beta access and DLC, etc....so its worth it....@geoffkeighley was giving away Uncharted 2 MP Demo Codes just a few minutes ago and is about to give away Brutal Legend Demo codes....something he wouldnt be doin on GT Traliers

I find Twitter pretty useful when it's used correctly. I mean I only follow friends and is a great communication tool for me.
Of course when you use Twitter just to follow celebrities just to read what they are doing well that's a bit silly I guess.
Anyway this is optional so people don't have to complain about it.

Nice! I WOULD use this service if it weren't already for using GamerDNA to update Twitter with trophies I get. =/ Either way, I'm happy that they are using social media to promote the game for people to not only show off trophies and let people know of multiplayer matches, but to get more people to buy the game via word of mouth after people see the fun that others are having while playing the game.
And I still don't see how people can say Twitter sucks. Like someone said before, people who use a site like Joystiq are no better people than people who go to Twitter. And I don't understand when people love Facebook, but hate Twitter, because they don't realize that all their new features are taken straight from Twitter.

I use gamerDNA as well...thing is it has been pretty spotty with updating PS3 info...I suppose its because Sony has been blocking people that have been draining their bandwidth too much...Playfire has the "Automatic" trophy cards but they havent been working because of some Issues that reported are a result of Sony blocking them as well as other people....

Yeah, I hope we see Sony embracing social media more and either allowing more services to draw from it or at least allowing their own.

This is a nice tool for me to weed out people I shouldn't follow in Twitter. Anybody that sets this up gets deleted.

lol...you unfollow them and I'm sure they will get more followers easy due to people clicking on #Uncharted2 and following people that also play the game....

I don't care how many followers they have, I just care that I'm not getting game spam on my twitter feed. More power to them, but that's not my concern. People interested in when others do some obscure game activity for a trophy I'm sure will love it, but that's not me.
When Xbox adds twitter, I'll do the same.
I think the right way to integrate games with Twitter is to allow DM'ing people as a kind of game invite outside the network. So if a friend isn't on XBL and I want to see if they want to hop on, I can twitter them. Not spam them with the fact that I just got the Mano a mano Batman achievement.

Its not spam tho.....YOU are following that person to see what they say...like you said just unfollow them....hell I'm following 400+ people....I dont even notice when people do the RT for Beta codes from IGN or something like that...and they may do it like 30 times....but if you are following less than 100 people and those people dont tweet much I can see why you would call it spamming

@Vidikron Twitter is what you make of it. It's a tool. You can use it in different ways. You guys use it in a different way than I do. That's fine. I never said anybody that likes seeing things like this are "doing it wrong". I just stated that I would not watch people's achievements/trophies scroll by in my twitter feed as they are wasting my time when I want to be using twitter as primarily a new source.
That's why I don't have a ton of people that I follow. I'm also not one to add a gazillion people to facebook. No direspect to those that do, that's just not how I want to spend my time.

Twitter isn't useless, the information one posts is where the value is. To say Twitter IS useless is dumb. Its a form of communication. I use Twitter to get updates from Engadget, Crackberry, Carolina Hurricanes, the NC Lottery, get top/breaking news from WRAL and other things i care about. Its value is in that i don't have access to a pc all the time nor do i have to navigate thru several different websites just to see whats going on. If you have friends that post trivial info and you get the tweets, well whose fault is that? I tried the Tweeting and i got bored with it, but i keep Twitter for the info i receive.

I cant believe all these people bashing Twitter. I thought gamers were a little more ahead of the curve in the way of social networking. Oh well, it's their loss, if you don't want to get to know people around the world and develop cool new contacts, that is cool I guess.
I personally, think Sony should implement an optional Twitter app into the XMB; I was shocked when Microsoft announced this before Sony did, so here's hoping that Sony does this. Twitter does not work too well from the browser, and it would be great to have through any game via in-game XMB.

Do people actually care about seeing what trophies other people got, or is it more the sharing what you just got thing that makes this attractive?
I don't get it at all, guess I'm not into wasting my time reading the mundane things other people do. It always sounds to me that most people that use Twitter (to write, not just read) are just attention starved teens.

Neptune,
Yeah, but it would be more awesome if it could be implemented to every game. While it's nice that Uncharted 2 will include Tweeter support, i can't imagine myself just looking at Tweeter posts for this game only.
If it were implemented for all games, i would definitely be more into it.

TWITTER = GHEY
1) Trophies are freaking lame
2) Bragging about Trophies is even lamer
3) Tweeting about your Trophies is about as ghey as you can get.

I couldn't agree more. I'm a gamer. WTF do I care if some asshole gets a trophy or kills some other asshole? I'm not a teenager so I could care less about tweeting or whatever the hell people call this thing.
Leave me alone and let me play for Christ's sake!! Thank God I can turn this option off. How about putting something in the game thats really useful?
Twitter? Oh for fuck's sake........ I'm not in high school. *shakes head*
