That joke's been milked to Hell at this point. I hate it when people milk things and ruin a good concept...

I was so giddy that my PS3 automatically linked to my laptop (likely because I'd done it with the 360 before) and music collection when I set it up the other day that I must have listened to most of the Vs. album before I actually did anything with the system.

Immmm lost, Immmm nooo guide, but Immmm by yourrrr siiiiide

Which reminds me I need to buy tickets soon to see them here or up in LA :P

I feel bad for those who don't like Pearl Jam, but for someone like me who's been listening to them since Vs came out, this is the best news ever. Especially since the new album is my favourite since No Code or even Vitalogy.

You newb... only since Vs ? Missed on the greatest alcum of all time: Ten ?

/joking nice to see another Pearl Jam fan around.

Anyone can confirm that this is indeed the "special" edition with the codes for Rockband?

http://www.target.com/Pearl-Jam-Backspacer-Deluxe-Target/dp/B002JM6J8Y/sr=1-1/qid=1253288297/ref=sr_1_1/176-9482062-4178367?ie=UTF8&search-alias=tgt-index&frombrowse=0&index=target&rh=k%3Apearl%20jam&page=1

I live in Canada and we have no Target store here. BUT, I'm doing a business trip in the US on the first week of October and I plan on waiting and picking up the album in the US to get the rockband DLC for free. Of course, MS can screw me up and the codes won't work on my Canadian Xbox... Maybe the Joystiq Guru can fish a little and let me know if that would work ?

The one you're looking for is a $30 special edition that includes several other bonuses aside from the DLC.

Yeah, strangely enough I started with Vs rather than Ten. I used to live in France at the time and Ten didn't have much of a breakthrough but 'Daughter' was played on the radio all the time. To be honest, I still actually kind of prefer Vs, because I always disliked the production on Ten which made the album sound really murky, especially compared to the live versions. The remixed version has kind of changed that fortunately. And I felt SO proud of myself when I gold starred 'Black' on vocals!

They're a very interesting live band, but I think 3 hours of them was too much for my liking. Or maybe I was just irritated because my girlfriend at the time was very obviously bored out of her skull. Party pooper.

I'm hesitant to listen to this album, given that I've been indifferent toward almost everything released after Ten... but I do like having DLC... hmmmmm

There's a typo in the Megadeth song title. Is should obviously read "Whale Up Dead".

I knew this was going to be DLC, but I was hoping the official announcement included some of the other RBU songs since I haven't cared about Pearl Jam since Viatology came out.

Not huge on Pearl Jam myself, but there are a couple of songs from the album I like. I'll probably pick up one or two of 'em.

I like Pearl Jam, but there are plenty of bands out there that need more songs on RB. Two Pearl Jam albums just a bit too much, given that some great bands haven't even been on the service yet. (I had the same opinion about the Foo Fighters having 2 on disc songs, an album, two three-packs, and another on disc song on the way in Lego RB)

Although, on the other hand, the Pearl Jam songs are usually more fun to play than the Foo Fighters songs. I like the Foo's more, but Pearl Jam songs usually have more interesting instrument parts. Ten was a blast on drums.

Also, The Chilis. I would love the whole Californication album, but they definitely have more than their fair share of songs. Really, anyone with a full album does.

Still, better songs from any of those three bands than from more obscure bands like Locksley or The Fratellis (no offense to any fans).

I really liked there last album (Pearl Jam). I've only heard "The Fixer" so far, but it sounds a lot like the Pearl Jam album which is a good thing.

Here's my problem with releasing new albums in Rock Band: I don't already know the songs. I liked Ten pretty well when it first came out, and so when the songs came out in Rock Band I knew which ones I liked and watched those on youtube to see if the note charts were fun, then I b ought them. The new album I would actually have to get a hold of, then sit and listen to to see which ones I like, then see if the note charts are any fun. It's a lot longer process and I'm less inclined to do it than if they just took one popular single and released it. On the other hand, since I know I probably won't bother doing any of that by next Thursday, this is the perfect kind of rainy day DLC that a month or two from now I can come back and get once I'm more familiar with the music.

It was easier when Rock Band 1 was new and we were all just thirsty for more DLC, now I'm actively trying NOT to buy too many songs. Due to the stupid savegames and game data being locked, I've had to completely re-download all my DLC from the PSN store twice in the past month.

I really wanted to like this new Pearl Jam album but they have just lost their spark. I really haven't liked anything since Vitalogy.

I'm hoping that the new President has changed their moods a little. Vedder seems a lot happier, particularly in the video for "The Fixer".

I'm not a huge Pearl Jam fan, but when I heard about the special edition, I was intrigued. In fact I was pretty much ready to make my first CD purchase in years. I figured the special edition would be a few bucks more, but would still be a great value. Imagine my disappointment when I saw the $30 price tag. Which just happens to be the exact same price as buying the CD and Rock Band album separately. So where exactly is the incentive? Ridiculous.

Because the 30$ Target edition has:

+ The full "Backspacer" Album
+ The codes to download the full album into RB/RB2
+ **TWO** FULL LIVE CONCERT DOWNLOADS OF YOUR CHOICE

In a DVD-style case with a larger book for art (for those of us who still like that kind of thing)
