What you see above is the third circular image we've spotted in just five days advertising a Nintendo Wii price cut to $199.99. At this point, though the image that a Kotaku tipster sent in could very well be made of fancy pixel work by someone with too few extracurriculars on their schedule, we're fairly confident in a forthcoming price cut reveal.
Considering the impending holiday season and those other consoles getting recent price drops, it seems likely something will occur with the big N in the upcoming months. IfMiss Cleo's Michael Pachter's predictions based on slowing sales are any indication though, we'll know soon enough.

This looks official and it was too obvious, at least to me, that a price drop was coming soon to combat Sony and MS.
Nintendo denied that they would drop the price but that was just to try to squeeze as many $250 purchases out of US consumers as possible. That's the norm because of course you don't want the consumer to hold back dem dollas fo' a cheapa price.
And, basically, Nintendo didn't want their weak ass system with a price so close to a faaaarrr superior system such as a PS3 or 360. A $50 diff?? Nah, definitely not enough. $100 looks MUCH better to the naked eye.
This will definitely generate more sales for Nintendo but I think the jig is up for them, overall. Who really wants a Wii, now, even at a lower cost? I think they've pretty much sold all the Wiis they are going to sale, at this point, and the sales they do make off this price drop won't be much but we'll see.
