Well, that's just rude. We wanted to tell you all about
Tokyo Game Show next week, but
Kanye West seems to have hijacked this post. Please come back next week for all the TGS coverage and an uninterrupted WRUP. What's everyone playing?
- Alexander Sliwinski (@XanderSliwinski): Playing House of the Dead: Overkill. It's fun, but ugly. Haven't played a Wii game in forever. Also got Ghostbusters from GameFly, which I hear is good enough for the story.
- Andrew Yoon (@scxzor): Going to the arcades of Akihabara tomorrow. Maybe I'll discover something even more hilarious than Silent Hill: The Arcade Game.
- Ben Gilbert (@BigBossBgilbert): Holding fast hope that Halo 3: ODST will materialize in my mailbox from somewhere, finally starting The Beatles: Rock Band, and trying not to think about how much Fallout 3 I'll never get to play.
- Christopher Grant (@ChrisGrant): [It's wedding bells for Mr. Grant, but not his own.]
- David Hinkle (@DaveHinkle): I'll be wrapping up this Wet game that Gamefly sent me (soundtrack of the year!) and playing a lot of Scribblenauts.
- Dustin Burg (@SuperDunner): ODST is dropping soon ... 'nuff said.
- Griffin McElroy (@griffinmcelroy): I'll be spending my time with the infinitely charming Scribblenauts and the infinitely hilarious Bowser's Inside Story this weekend. I'll also be partaking in a bit of D&D 4E, for which I am infinitely excited.
- James Ransom-Wiley: Droppin and shockin!
- JC Fletcher (@jcfletcher): I'll be trying and failing to save Scribblenauts for the flight to Tokyo. Also, I'm playing 'pack my suitcase' (which totally can be a game, as evidenced by its appearance as a puzzle in Professor Layton and the Diabolical Box). And Gamefly sent me Cubivore!
- Justin McElroy (@JustinMcElroy): Definitely some Halo 3: ODST, more Heroes Over Europe (that's what it's called, right?) and a pinch of Uncharted 2 beta for good measure.
- Kevin Kelly (@gadgetguy): I'm playing "Finish writing your posts". Fun, informative, and educational. End boss is a real pain in the ass, though. Also: Urban Chaos: Riot Response. Then it's time for Fantastic Fest to start as I continue my Austin visit.
- Ludwig Kietzmann (@LudwigK): This weekend has been reserved for The Beatles: Rock Band ... and that game with the overly descriptive subtitle treatment.
- Randy Nelson (@DangerPenguin): My DSi will be plugged into wall current as I tackle Bowser's Inside Story, Scribblenauts and Layton 2: Electric Puzzle-oo. The other outlet will power the equipment I'll need to facilitate not needing to leave the couch, ever.
- Richard Mitchell (@SenseiRAM): Hoping that ODST shows up this weekend. In the meantime, Arkham Asylum has finally arrived, so that will keep me plenty busy. I might squeeze in some good ol' Diablo II as well.
- Xav de Matos (@Xav): I've dropped into Halo 3: ODST and hope to finish it off before boarding a plane to Tokyo, where Chrono Trigger will keep me company.
- Justin Glow (@justinglow): (Cosplaying as a developer at a computer.)

As far as what I'm playing, I'm planning on playing through Crisis Core: FFVII, Scribblenauts, and this neat new iPod game called Squareball. I'm limited to portable games since I can't watch any TV until Thursday for my Electronic Media & Culture class. Bummer but I'm glad that it forces me to make time for portable games I've put on hold.
Trickob @ Sep 19th 2009 3:53AM
@ embassy:
That is hilarious. me and my avatar loved that :D
@Hyams:
That is less annoying than some of the ads that occasionally float across my screen...
Sly (PSN: SniperChameleon) @ Sep 18th 2009 9:09PM
ugh, the kanye meme is SO 3 days ago.
anyways, i'll be playing COD4 so i'll be in good condition for MW2. i'll also be shooting hoops for a couple hours a day since we're starting basketball in PE and i haven't played in a year... so my shooting is horrible now. ugh. thank god my neighbors are varsity basketball players.
WiredKnight @ Sep 18th 2009 9:50PM
Wow, someone who actually cares about PE...
Sly (PSN: SniperChameleon) @ Sep 18th 2009 9:56PM
it's mostly because the chick i like is in my PE class and she watches my game. today i had to tell my friends not to pass it to me unless they had to, and that i would only play defense just because i didn't want to play bad in front of her. i figure that i'll get a good bit better over the weekend.
Sly (PSN: SniperChameleon) @ Sep 18th 2009 9:57PM
and our teams are pretty small, just 2 on 2 if the girls don't join in. so your mistakes are way more easily noticeable.
Residentevil72501 (PSN: rankore) @ Sep 18th 2009 10:01PM
Sniper you are always online lol. Your the only PSN friend I have who is on 24/7 lol. I will be playing through DeadSpace again, and probably some Marumasa, and WoW of course.
Sly (PSN: SniperChameleon) @ Sep 18th 2009 10:07PM
haha, no i'm not! today i left my PS3 on for like 4 hours, but i was only playing for like 1. i don't play nearly as much as i used to.
ToadStoolPorridge (PSN: tennispro_99) @ Sep 18th 2009 10:10PM
Do you have any more room on you friends list? I know you were at 200 a day or two ago. I'd like to play CoD4 sometime with you (and MW2 when it comes out, of course). I'm not very good, but I'm great at tagging along with people and offering some support.
Sly (PSN: SniperChameleon) @ Sep 18th 2009 10:11PM
the friends list limit is 100 actually. i WISH it was 200, haha. but yeah, i'll clear out a space for you. COD4 is always fun when you're playing with people you know.
ToadStoolPorridge (PSN: tennispro_99) @ Sep 18th 2009 11:08PM
Thanks. I'll try adding you tonight or tomorrow morning.
PSN: John-Paul-Jones @ Sep 19th 2009 12:04AM
Sly, I've yet to play a lengthy game with you (no homo). I'll holla at you when Uncharted 2 and Modern Warfare 2 drops, still! Feel free as always, Joystiq users, to add me on PSN. Just look at the name!
Sly (Now with less shake, more bake!) @ Sep 19th 2009 12:24AM
yeah, JPJ, i know. we just had that one COD:WAW match where i jumped into a tank and started destroying, haha. you stayed in for like 2 minutes, and then you had to leave. made me sad cause you didn't see my end score. haha. but yeah, when uncharted 2 comes out, i'll play with you for sure.
PSN: John-Paul-Jones @ Sep 19th 2009 2:06AM
I see your PSN status all the time, though, and you have the most legendary stats I've ever seen! I think one time it was 50-0! DAMN! Yeah, and I can't wait for MW2 (which I will somehow buy used to screw Activision) and U2!
Sly (Now with less shake, more bake!) @ Sep 19th 2009 2:44AM
haha, i know the match you're talking about. it was 40 kills, 0 deaths. only counted as a 38 killstreak sadly, because the match went into overtime when i was at 38 and i got 2 more during OT. haha. most beautiful match i've ever played. i even took down an enemy tank with a single PTRS shot.
The Dark Wayne @ Sep 19th 2009 11:06AM
wtf? how did that happen sly? Was it like in Saving Private Ryan when Tom Hanks thinks he blew it up with his pistol but it was really a P51 Mustang?
Sly (Now with less shake, more bake!) @ Sep 19th 2009 2:41PM
the PTRS is an anti-tank rifle. you can look it up. it was never a sniper rifle, ever. treyarch decided they needed a sniper comparable to the .50 cal in COD4, so we ended up with a scoped anti-tank rifle. the PTRS can do some insane damage to the top armor of tanks. like 70 MG42 bullets against a tank = 1 PTRS shot. if a tank is really weakened and the armor is black and on fire, you can shoot the back of the tank, and it'll blow up.
and trust me, i've seen crazier anti-tank shots. i was in one game sniping and a guy next to me blew up a tank with a PPSh. i'm still reeling from that one.
Sly (Now with less shake, more bake!) @ Sep 19th 2009 2:42PM
also, why did my original post get downranked? i said i need to work on my basketball shooting skills cause i'm bad now. it's not like i was saying i'm a god or something...
SpaceFox @ Sep 18th 2009 9:10PM
Ah shit, that's hilarious!
I don't even know what I'm playing. Ordering Batman:AA tomorrow from amazon(FINALLY), might just be playing BFBC on PS3. I got Platinum earlier this week, and wow it was one of the hardest Platinums on PS3 probably.
I would be playing Uncharted(the first), but stupid Toys R Us. I went to pick it up and they had GT5 Prologue and Uncharted there, the 2 greatest hits games I wanted, but their Uncharted copies weren't the greatest hits versions and didn't count towards the sale. Anyone know if that sale is still going on tomorrow? If so Ima call any nearby Toys R Us and ask if they have those 2 GH versions. :D
vidGuy @ Sep 18th 2009 9:10PM
Beatles: Rock Band. Maybe finally get to starting MP3: Corruption.
Iroquois @ Sep 18th 2009 9:10PM
Wolfenstein. I'm actually impressed with it. Quite fun. And playing through Bioshock because it was $5 on D2D and I owe it to myself to finally play through it. And more DDO.

Frostblade10 @ Sep 18th 2009 9:23PM
I just got my guitar hero world tour drum kit in the mail so im playing the game again.
I also just bought a lot of classic ps2 games like 007 Agent Under Fire and Nightfire, and Dave Mirra BMX 2, Winback2, and Twisted Metal Black.
Ahhh memories!
nsdcx @ Sep 18th 2009 10:58PM
I just hooked up my ps2 yesterday after about a year, and what save file stood out to me on the memory card? Dave Mirra 2. Then I spent 2 hours looking for the game, couldn't find it so I went to bed crying.
Moral of the story is...Dave Mirra 2 kicks ass.
Frostblade10 @ Sep 18th 2009 11:24PM
Haha nice! I was flooded with nostalgia when i saw the Slim Jim Guy. I miss the first game too.
Once you find the game, you will still be crying but they will tears of joy. Good luck dude.
Phil @ Sep 18th 2009 9:23PM
Yo Joystiq, I'm happy fo you, I'mma let you finish... but beyonce has one of the best blogs of all time. Of all time!
I'm going to be playing NFS: Shift, practice on some L4D in preparation for Crash Course and some Rock Band 2.
And maybe some more puzzle quest.

Hyams @ Sep 18th 2009 9:45PM
Yeah. Just like real life, I heard.
Sly (PSN: SniperChameleon) @ Sep 18th 2009 9:49PM
the gameplay got blasted by critics though. shame. the graphics were unbelievably believable.
Hyams @ Sep 18th 2009 9:53PM
The gameplay is meant to be really repetitive, right? And the combat system is meant to make no sense - you can play it flawlessly, and still randomly die, with no way to prevent it happening.
And there's no checkpoints!
Sly (PSN: SniperChameleon) @ Sep 18th 2009 10:27PM
even when the game works like the devs wanted it to, it still crashes my PS3 after about 10 minutes of play. it's ridiculous.
Solace @ Sep 18th 2009 10:32PM
O.O oh fine I'm playing COD4 argh!
