It's not often that we get to post a breaking news, stop-the-presses kind of story about an impending sequel to a beloved franchise. Of course, that adage doesn't really apply to Street Figher, a series with more sequels and spin-offs than the Joystiq staff has fingers and toes. On the Japanese Street Fighter IV blog, Capcom's Natsuki Shiozawa intimated that an announcement regarding a sequel would be made in the near future. With TGS only a week away, we can only hope that such an announcement will be made then.
IGN quite rightly notes that an SFIV "sequel" doesn't necessarily equate to a brand new entry in the series. Given the series' history, it's easily possible that it could end up being an extension of the game, à la Street Fighter II Championship Edition. We might add that an SFIV refresh would be perfect for the impending holiday shopping season.

Supposedly some user created a topic on the SRK forums with information and it was deleted.

@Jinsenken
It's long because I wanted to get a discussion going and I wanted to get my thoughts out. I didn't think it was enough to say something and not back it up.
@Joshua
OK, so it's the GOAT, so people say. Why? Again I think people love it because it appeals to their sense of nostalgia not on the merits of the game itself.

...whatever it is, it better be compatible with the 15 bucks worth (or however much it was) of costumes I foolishly ponied up for in case I want to upgrade.
If it isn't...well, I guess that's what I get for being suckered in by Capcom's bullshit DLC that seems to surface half the time they release a decent game.

if its going to be a disc i'm not buying that crap. capcom has been doing that for 10 years, and its about time they learn how to make patches and stop making people regret buying their SF games.

My wishlist is as follows:
- At least 6-player lobbies, with voice chat, on all platforms.
- More fan-favorite characters (Dee Jay, T. Hawk, Ibuki, more)
- Improved netcode * infinity
- More stages, more BGM
Make it so.

man these "super street fighter 2: ________ edition" jokes are old.. mainly because not a single one of them is funny.
i like how this gets made fun of.. but in this era.. everything gets "updates." i guess if they called it "championship map pack" or "ballad of gay sagat" it wouldnt catch flack online. because in the digital era, you can expect most big hits to have added stuff that we have to pay for.

I would've prefered a new Darkstalkers or Rival Schools game, but heck, it's better than nothing.

These developers are money hungry, it wouldnt cost much for them to make SF IV sequel since they gonna be using the same devloped tools. if they really think about the gamers why dont just make an update for this.. is that too much for ask?

Now it's easier to understand why the games developers said that there would be no downloadable characters in the futures (aside from possible Dee Jay and T Hawk - for "completeness's" sake). Of course, the reason they gave us was that of a "balancing" issue, it's looking (based on this announcement) that it's more of a "sequel" issue.
My only hope is that they put more effort into creating a less frusterating experience. Some of the AI (especially the final boss Seth) is just too ridiculous. It's one thing to challenge a gamer, it's another to be blatantly cheap... but whatever - the game was still fun and had enough good moments.

I love the game, and still log on to PSN to play against a few opponents every week I definitely feel like the 60 (plus tax) that I shelled out for the game was well spent.
If there is another edition/update, I'm there...

I think that sf4 is a horrible game, adding 3d to a 2d fighter DOES NOT WORK. i just came back from a tournament (got 3rd place) lost to a zangief (spam green hand and power throws) i couldn't do combos cuz he literally grabbed me in the middle of them. Ask any pro, and they will say ultras suck, its bogus that i work so hard to hit zangief over and over and he does one move and kills me, its like getting a 2nd chance therefore its a game for noobs, if i beat you then i beat you game over. i got this guy beat twice but because of his large life bar and his 600 dmg ultra i lose. get rid of the ultra and have the same life bar for everyone except akuma and bosses(shin akuma, seth etc...)and make it 2d plz.
