Swag Sunday: Metroid Prime Trilogy (Wii) [update]

How is it that every time we run a Swag Saturday/Sunday post for a Nintendo Wii game, it's something wonderful? Last time we offered you Zack & Wiki: Quest for Barbaros' Treasure, and this week we're treating one lucky winner to a copy of Metroid Prime Trilogy! To get your hands on it, leave a comment below telling us your favorite moment in the Metroid series -- yes, you can go all the way back to NES. We'll pick one answer at random tomorrow evening to receive the fancy "Collector's Edition" you see above. One stipulation: Automatic disqualification should your answer include the Zero Suit in any way. You know why, ya scoundrels!

That moment in Super Metroid when you discover that the Hatchling has become a GIANT metroid, and think it's about to destroy you, only to have it remember that it thinks you're it's mommy, and lets you live. D'awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww!

I liked the opening sequence of Super Metroid.

Metroid Prime was one of the best games of all time!

The end of Metroid Prime

I liked scanning things with the visor in Metroid Prime 3 - compeltely appealed to my OCD nature.

My favorite moment, oddly enough is when Samus confronts Mother Brain in the ultimate showdown in Super Metroid.

I have wanted this game since the day I heard about it. I'm just too poor to be able to get it! Pick me, your loyal Engadget reader.

My fave one was when the final boss on Metroid Hunters *spoilers*!!

Somehow absorved the special abilities of every bounty hunter, that was one epic battle

Right when i first played Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, the controls and graphics blew me away.

Beating Mother Brain despite unbelievable odds. Incoming missiles, acid liquid, enemies... and still se went down. Wow... loved it.

I liked when we first found Dark Samus. I was scared crapless.

I have to agree, Dark Samus is creepy as hell. It was also interesting for me because although I came into the series late and knew that Samus was a girl, the first time I shot something close to my visor in Prime and actually saw her face was kind of surreal.

favorite metroid game was definitely metroid fusion. It was all the awesomeness of super metroid, but portable

Probably the rock monster boss in Metroid Prime.

The release of Metroid Fusion for the GBA. It was a perfect blend of retro nostalgia and (then) current design sensibilities.

i would definitely have to say the end of metroid prime. it was pretty sweet.

My favorite moment was when I won this contest.

Beating Metroid 2 on the gameboy when I was 6. I had no idea what was going on.

First would have to be running through the Space Pirate ship once you have the fully powered Varia Suit in Metroid Zero Mission.

Second would have to be all the fan generated content around Metroid Fusion.

And special mention to the "Any objections, lady?" in the Other M trailer.

The end of Metroid Fusion, when X-Parasite Samus saves her butt (unintentionally, but still).

Back when my brother and I recented Super Metroid for the SNES. When we realized that we could backtrack, the mood, and the music we just freaked out at how awesome it was in general. Definitely one of our favourite rentals...

clearly the best metroid time is 100% constant corruption and the end of the last game.. PWNING EVERYTHING haha

When you first got the hyper boots in Super Metroid. Hours of entertainment speed dashing and super jumping after.

I'll never forget when I entered Phendrana Drifts for the first time in Metroid Prime. The area was gorgeous, the music drawing me in. And I liked the effect of seeing the reflection of Samus's face, with soft snow on the other side of the visor.

The ending of Metroid Fusion, sending a space station to a collision course into a planet. Now THAT'S entertainment!

Beating Mother Brain for the first time thinking it was over then the time counter popped on screen.

The opening sequence of Super Metroid. Gotta love the escape scenes.

Killing Mother Brain at the end of Super Metroid. God, that part was epic.

How about the time that Samus threw down an expert on Dragonforce's "Through the Fire and Flames" in Guitar Hero?

... Or when she ate a whole bag of mushrooms and beat up a dinosaur?

... Or when she beat up that prostitute on principal and took her money?

... Or how about when she slayed the EFF out of a whole house-full of zombies?

... Or when she used the Master Sword to kill Tingle... I mean, uh, Gannondorf?

Ok, so I'm relatively new to Metroid (I did play through Prime 3), but what better way to delve deeper into it than to experience all three Primes for the Wii? :)

I loved the action moments in all the Metroid Prime games, they are a lot of fun. The battles with the space pirates are just too sweet!

Sans Zero Suit,eh? How about our old friend Justin Bailey, which makes it Metroid sans any suit!

I like the first time you get the Spider Ball in Metroid for Game boy. Finally, the world is your oyster.

Playing Metroid as an FPS for the first time ... pretty memorable.

that's easy. any moment containing a form of Ridley. Ridley4life!

my favorite part was realizing she was a girl and being relieved for feeling so queer all those years.

Playing Metroid Prime on Hard, blasting a Super Missile into the shoulder of a Power Pirate, watching him spin, land on his ass, slide back, and slam into the wall...then leap back at me firing fast.

It has to be at the end of the first Metroid when you find out Samus is a woman.
