Swag Sunday: Metroid Prime Trilogy (Wii) [update]

How is it that every time we run a Swag Saturday/Sunday post for a Nintendo Wii game, it's something wonderful? Last time we offered you Zack & Wiki: Quest for Barbaros' Treasure, and this week we're treating one lucky winner to a copy of Metroid Prime Trilogy! To get your hands on it, leave a comment below telling us your favorite moment in the Metroid series -- yes, you can go all the way back to NES. We'll pick one answer at random tomorrow evening to receive the fancy "Collector's Edition" you see above. One stipulation: Automatic disqualification should your answer include the Zero Suit in any way. You know why, ya scoundrels!

My first time playing Prime because I am a first person junkie.

God, I remember my heart jumping the first time a metroid flies at you in the orignal NES. Since all of the other bad-guys were copies of previous ones in the game I was like "WTF is this thing!"

Definitely the Mother Brain boss battle.

Seeing the opening of Metroid Prime on the GC. 2D to 3D = awesomeness!

What about when gigantic "baby metroid" thrashes mother brain in Super Metroid... I know that brought a tear to all of our eyes.

Favorite Metroid moment occurs when you get infinite hypermode in Prime 3, making you an infinite rape machine.

Meta Ridley in prime. Finally the reoccuring charater got to look as cool as it should have.

The fight with Ridley in Metroid Prime 3 when you're falling down the pipe, vent, whatever it is.

Metroid Prime became an all out day/night addiction.

Actually fighting and defeating Metroid Prime in the first prime was my favorite. Finally the metroids are big scary and badass as they always should have been!

Mine was the first time I saw Samus beam down out of the ship and start the action. You knew it was time for some space brawlin'

Zero Mission, near the end when you finally get your suit back and you blow the crap out of all the baddies. Awesome.

Playing both Metroid for NES and Super Metroid for SNES in college on my emulator. I never had a chance to play them when I was younger. It wasn't until I was older and able to appreciate the games that I was able to play them. Although, I did watch a friend of mine beat the orignal Metroid with the Mother code.

Super Metroid, when a metroid helps to save Samus T_T

I had skipped the metroid II game for years but upon going back and playing it, I was glad to see they took the metroids somewhere further than they had in the original. I mean for the game being called metroid, there sure werent a lot of metroids.

That samus was girl and she kick ass!!!XD

I think it was the intro to Super Metroid...the creepy title theme, actual voice, then the landing on the planet with the rain. it was so detailed and atmospheric.

The end of metroid prime! That was soooo intense!!!

I remember laughing when the replica mother brain in super metroid turned out to be a gigantic monster. Not the choice I would make, but I alwas remember that.

I liked when we first found Dark Samus.

my favorite part was realizing she was a girl and being relieved for feeling so queer all those years.

Metroid Prime itself was a pretty cool boss. Sort of took the gloves off if you know what I mean.

I really liked the Rock boss in Metroid Prime. Probably because I had just seen Galaxy Quest before I played it.

First starting up Metroid Prime and realizing how cool it was.

I gotta say the battle with mother brain.

The last Metroid is in captivity.

The galaxy is at peace...

Towards the end of the first Metroid Prime, when you fight (Meta) Ridley.

Understand, in the classic Metroid I had nightmares about fighting Ridley. I was only 7 or 8 I think, and it must've taken me two months to beat him.

Then he comes back in Super Metroid, is still a jerk, but this time he's also messing with your adoptive Metroid hatchling. So now it's personal.

Then in Prime, you see him in the beginning so you know he's back, then once you spy him overflying Phendrana, but on the whole you aren't thinking about him much. Then, JUST as you're getting to the end, you return all the artifacts, it's time to FINALLY get into that crater - Ridley attack! And you realize he's been waiting for you to bring down that shield and then take you out and get in ahead of you. A remixed version of the Ridley battle music from Super Metroid starts up, he flies in - I flipped over to the Plasma Beam and actually said "Bring it!" out loud.

Awesome.

My favorite moment was the end of the original Metroid.

An amazing moment for me was when playing through Prime and I scanned an area to reveal that the glass around me could be destroyed. While that itself was cool, when I was younger I had played Super Metroid and had become stumped when I couldn't get into Meridia. Having discovered that maneuver in Prime I then applied it in Super and was able to beat both games!

My favorite Metroid moment was playing Super Metroid for the first time

Tried to replay MP1 and would kill for motion control at this point.

Pretty much everything from Super Metroid. I remember fighting the Crocomire as a kid and being blown away by it's death sequence. That and the epic music, 'specially that of the water area. Still hands down the best game soundtrack ever.

One of my favorite moments was when escaping Zebes on Super Metroid, and coming across the Etecoons and Dachoras. After you let them escape, and you see the cutscene of Samus flying out of there, you can see the tiny ship escape. It's amazing. The Etecoons taught you how to wall-jump (while singing the Item Acquisition song) and the Dachora taught you how to shinespark, it's good to know that you are doing them a favor.

It's also nice to see that they weren't forgotten in Fusion.

Watching the Super Metroid coming to save Samus after the Mother Brain almost kills her. The hatchling sacrifices itself for its own mother.
