Swag Sunday: Metroid Prime Trilogy (Wii) [update]

How is it that every time we run a Swag Saturday/Sunday post for a Nintendo Wii game, it's something wonderful? Last time we offered you Zack & Wiki: Quest for Barbaros' Treasure, and this week we're treating one lucky winner to a copy of Metroid Prime Trilogy! To get your hands on it, leave a comment below telling us your favorite moment in the Metroid series -- yes, you can go all the way back to NES. We'll pick one answer at random tomorrow evening to receive the fancy "Collector's Edition" you see above. One stipulation: Automatic disqualification should your answer include the Zero Suit in any way. You know why, ya scoundrels!
- Leave a comment telling us your favorite moment in the Metroid series, excluding those that involve the Zero Suit.
- You must be 18 years or older and a resident of the US or Canada (excluding Quebec, for obvious reasons)
- Limit 1 entry per person per day
- This entry period ends at 8:31PM ET on Monday, September 21
- At that time, we'll randomly select one winner to receive Metroid Prime Trilogy on Wii ($50 ARV)

Samus. One of the first female lead characters. She pwned and paved way for more female leads. Say thanks Laura!
Doug @ Sep 20th 2009 9:18PM
Who's Laura? I bet she's got nothing on Lara. ;)
Not THAT Matt @ Sep 20th 2009 11:33PM
I would have to say first experiencing Metroid Prime Hunters for DS when it came as a demo when the DS first launched - it was so awesome turning into that beautiful sphere on a handheld, and the touchscreen gameplay was suprisingly well implemented.
That was back when the DS came with that nifty wrist strap thumb control thingy. :(

That moment in Super Metroid when you discover that the Hatchling has become a GIANT metroid, and think it's about to destroy you, only to have it remember that it thinks you're it's mommy, and lets you live. D'awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww!
Wilsoch @ Sep 21st 2009 5:10PM
I liked the opening sequence of Super Metroid.
TMGE_rock @ Sep 20th 2009 8:35PM
Metroid Prime was one of the best games of all time!
NintenDood @ Sep 20th 2009 8:35PM
The end of Metroid Prime
Toasty @ Sep 20th 2009 8:35PM
I liked scanning things with the visor in Metroid Prime 3 - compeltely appealed to my OCD nature.
Brandon Neal Hatfield @ Sep 20th 2009 8:36PM
My favorite moment, oddly enough is when Samus confronts Mother Brain in the ultimate showdown in Super Metroid.
I have wanted this game since the day I heard about it. I'm just too poor to be able to get it! Pick me, your loyal Engadget reader.
Robert27 @ Sep 20th 2009 8:35PM
My fave one was when the final boss on Metroid Hunters *spoilers*!!
Somehow absorved the special abilities of every bounty hunter, that was one epic battle
jinn35 @ Sep 20th 2009 8:36PM
Right when i first played Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, the controls and graphics blew me away.
avsreaper @ Sep 20th 2009 8:36PM
Beating Mother Brain despite unbelievable odds. Incoming missiles, acid liquid, enemies... and still se went down. Wow... loved it.
Ryan Gall @ Sep 20th 2009 8:37PM
I liked when we first found Dark Samus. I was scared crapless.
iofthestorm @ Sep 20th 2009 9:41PM
I have to agree, Dark Samus is creepy as hell. It was also interesting for me because although I came into the series late and knew that Samus was a girl, the first time I shot something close to my visor in Prime and actually saw her face was kind of surreal.
Dipsodic @ Sep 20th 2009 8:37PM
favorite metroid game was definitely metroid fusion. It was all the awesomeness of super metroid, but portable
darkdeath43 @ Sep 20th 2009 8:37PM
The first epic battle with mother brain
Will @ Sep 20th 2009 8:37PM
Probably the rock monster boss in Metroid Prime.
Paul Blake @ Sep 20th 2009 8:39PM
The release of Metroid Fusion for the GBA. It was a perfect blend of retro nostalgia and (then) current design sensibilities.
brandonius @ Sep 20th 2009 8:39PM
i would definitely have to say the end of metroid prime. it was pretty sweet.
RuthlessGravity @ Sep 20th 2009 8:39PM
when I first played metroid prime and realize that nintendo can make a innovative fps with puzzles.
KrisR @ Sep 20th 2009 8:38PM
Was the end of prime 1
Sora3087 @ Sep 20th 2009 8:38PM
i cant decide between Super metroid and fusion
Rob @ Sep 20th 2009 8:39PM
My favorite moment was when I won this contest.
pinzasso @ Sep 20th 2009 8:39PM

carlcarl @ Sep 20th 2009 8:39PM
screw attacking
FezMan88 @ Sep 20th 2009 8:39PM
Beating Metroid 2 on the gameboy when I was 6. I had no idea what was going on.
Gibbeynator @ Sep 20th 2009 8:39PM
First would have to be running through the Space Pirate ship once you have the fully powered Varia Suit in Metroid Zero Mission.
Second would have to be all the fan generated content around Metroid Fusion.
And special mention to the "Any objections, lady?" in the Other M trailer.
2gamers @ Sep 20th 2009 8:39PM
The end of Metroid Fusion, when X-Parasite Samus saves her butt (unintentionally, but still).
Phix @ Sep 20th 2009 8:40PM
Back when my brother and I recented Super Metroid for the SNES. When we realized that we could backtrack, the mood, and the music we just freaked out at how awesome it was in general. Definitely one of our favourite rentals...
D0V3Y @ Sep 20th 2009 8:40PM
clearly the best metroid time is 100% constant corruption and the end of the last game.. PWNING EVERYTHING haha
Ghostsong @ Sep 20th 2009 8:40PM
When you first got the hyper boots in Super Metroid. Hours of entertainment speed dashing and super jumping after.
fischju @ Sep 20th 2009 8:40PM
Metroid Fusion. The final boss battle.
KeegdnaB @ Sep 20th 2009 8:40PM
Beating dark samus at the end of MP3 then being scared shitless by that.....thing....it turned into.

YEa Ima have to Go with Mother Brain....
Jasmine @ Sep 20th 2009 8:40PM
I'll never forget when I entered Phendrana Drifts for the first time in Metroid Prime. The area was gorgeous, the music drawing me in. And I liked the effect of seeing the reflection of Samus's face, with soft snow on the other side of the visor.
VENOM @ Sep 20th 2009 8:40PM
**spoilers**
The ending of Metroid Fusion, sending a space station to a collision course into a planet. Now THAT'S entertainment!
jason @ Sep 20th 2009 8:51PM
Beating Mother Brain for the first time thinking it was over then the time counter popped on screen.
J. Scott @ Sep 20th 2009 8:44PM
The opening sequence of Super Metroid. Gotta love the escape scenes.
incubusbeatsall @ Sep 20th 2009 8:42PM
Killing Mother Brain at the end of Super Metroid. God, that part was epic.
Frank @ Sep 20th 2009 8:42PM
How about the time that Samus threw down an expert on Dragonforce's "Through the Fire and Flames" in Guitar Hero?
... Or when she ate a whole bag of mushrooms and beat up a dinosaur?
... Or when she beat up that prostitute on principal and took her money?
... Or how about when she slayed the EFF out of a whole house-full of zombies?
... Or when she used the Master Sword to kill Tingle... I mean, uh, Gannondorf?
Ok, so I'm relatively new to Metroid (I did play through Prime 3), but what better way to delve deeper into it than to experience all three Primes for the Wii? :)
SmittyT_Hawk22 @ Sep 20th 2009 8:42PM
I loved the action moments in all the Metroid Prime games, they are a lot of fun. The battles with the space pirates are just too sweet!
Juddmensch @ Sep 21st 2009 7:04PM
Sans Zero Suit,eh? How about our old friend Justin Bailey, which makes it Metroid sans any suit!
The Andy @ Sep 21st 2009 10:30AM
I like the first time you get the Spider Ball in Metroid for Game boy. Finally, the world is your oyster.
Logic Bus @ Sep 20th 2009 8:42PM
Playing Metroid as an FPS for the first time ... pretty memorable.
DerKapitan @ Sep 20th 2009 8:42PM
that's easy. any moment containing a form of Ridley. Ridley4life!
cylet @ Sep 20th 2009 8:43PM
my favorite part was realizing she was a girl and being relieved for feeling so queer all those years.
Crusty Magic @ Sep 20th 2009 8:43PM
Completing the GBA entries in the series.
Such awesome games.
Junho @ Sep 20th 2009 8:43PM

Kakairo @ Sep 20th 2009 8:43PM
Playing Metroid Prime on Hard, blasting a Super Missile into the shoulder of a Power Pirate, watching him spin, land on his ass, slide back, and slam into the wall...then leap back at me firing fast.
