If our late-night review of Halo 3: ODST filled you with an unbridled desire to purchase the noir-filled shooter, Toys R Us will have quite the deal on the game's launch day. Those willing to travel to the giraffe-approved retailer this Tuesday are eligible to receive an ODST action figure and a $20 gift card with their purchase of the title. We suggest spending the complimentary Geoffrey Bucks on another action figure to keep your lil' trooper company as you spend the next few weeks exploring New Mombasa.
Make sure you don't purchase any Master Chief action figures, though. There's no reason to give the poor guy an inferiority complex.

does toys r us allow preorders 2 days before launch? nobody goes there, they have sgt. johnson, and it is closer than gamestop

I gotta stop going to gamestop, and based on the comments I'm assuming they have the sgt johnson promo

Wow, what a sweet deal! I hope every who CAN take advantadge of this deal, does. I would in a heart beat, but alas... the closest Toys R Us is probably 1000km away from me :( And that's assuming it's in Canada as well, because this deal might just be US only, which would mean even farther away.
Oh well... I'll just print the picture in the post and cut it out, close enough, right guys?

I ordered my copy of ODST for $29 after shipping. Only problem is I won't get it until Mid October which is fine with me. For $29, I am not complaining.

Ah Great! Is TRU doing the Sargent Johnson thing? TRU is closer then my Gamestop so I could just cancel my preorder but that would require an almost pointless trip out of town.

I pre-ordered mine at GS and I told my friend that works there about this so he gave me a sgt. Johnson code so I can get my game at TRU instead and use the gift card for a 1600 MS point card lol :)

Uh, BB gave you the pre-order before the purchase. So return the pre-order and keep the case and card. That's what I did.
Only reason to keep your Gamestop pre-order is if you ordered the controller pack. But now that "$40" controller is $60, compared to the TRU deal.

Action Figure AND 20.00 Gift Card vs Awesome Gamestop Exclusive Controller. I Pre Ordered It In Full at Gamestop. Should I Go to the Midnight Release 2mm? or Just Get It From TRU?

I work at Toys R Us. We are doing the Sgt. Johnson pre-order bonus, but at my store, we have already received the codes for the existing pre-orders. So any new pre-orders between today and release will not include the Sgt. Johnson bonus. (unless they overnight more codes to our store). The giftcard is for Toys R Us, not pizza hut, and there is a 6 hour activation.

I've read that the $10 gift card expires in 2 months. Is this true? If so, could you use it to purchase a NORMAL gift card that doesn't expires?

Can you pre-order the game at GameStop, get the Sgt. Johnson code, and then return the game later but keep the code?
I ask because my TRU only has 3 Johnson codes and I don't know if I'll get there early enough in the day.

Go to Best Buy and pre-order, return in a week and return your pre-order to get your $5 back.

so would it be possible to buy the game + gift card + action figure, and then just return the game, keeping the gift card + action figure?
Posted: Sep 21st 2009 7:20AM Deezul AwT said
Yes. And they'll reduce your returned to $28, charging you for the GC and figure. Best Buy and Target put a "reduced" return price on an item when it includes a gift card with purchase.

I'm going to use the $20 gift card I got from buying Batman Arkahm Asylum. I'll trade one Gift card for another, and only pay $40 and get the action figure.

Anyone know anything about the figure? Are they all the same figure, or will there be a choice? Is it a special figure for this deal, or just one of the Halo toys they sell at Toys R Us? (I'm assuming they sell Halo toys...)

The figure is the ODST figure seen here: http://actionfigurecanada.files.wordpress.com/2009/06/odst4.jpg
You have no choice in the matter.
