Vcize was totally owned in this exchange. I guess so much Wii hatred causes one to read things that aren't even really there in the text.

2011, at the absolutely earliest for a new Wii. 2012 is more likely. If not then, then 2013 for sure.

Yea NMH 2 only comes out 2010 anyways, they have to look at the sales figures before starting on a new game probably, thats at least a 2-3 year gap.

I can't believe there's already talk of a 3rd game when I'm not even done the first one yet. For some reason, I have a hard time really getting into it. I tend to just drive around earning money for an hour, then doing something else.

As for the HD part, I can honestly say that if they make the Wii2 just as expensive as the PS3 and 360, that I won't bite. The lower cost was the real driving point for me to get a Wii.

You're not getting into it because you're spending far too much time in the "open" world and not nearly enough time in the missions.

I'm replaying the first one right now, the formula is pretty easy:

Ranked match
Go to Job Center
Complete Part Time Job (unlocks assassination mission)
Go K Entertainment
Complete Assassination Mission
Repeat until you have enough money for upgrades/workouts/clothing (as you desire) and the next ranked match
Ranked Match
etc.

This is NOT a real open world game. Sure, you can drive around and find $$ and shirts, but there's not a lot happening in the city. A good analogy would be Shadows of the Colossus; the boss fights are the real meat of the game. Hope you get into it, it's a good time to play through.

Wii HD you say? Well I got one HDMI port left with it's name on it if the price is right.

I just hope it's really small because I'm running out of room.

I know there will be a new Wii console but I don't really enjoy this new console speculation, I never have. Two of my favourite consoles have had their lifespans artificially cut short - Saturn, Xbox - and I really don't want to see Nintendo make it a hat-trick.

In some ways, due yo the lack of games that have really used the motion controls, it feels like the Wii has only came out a year ago, as if it's yet to fulfil its potential.

i dont recall xbox having a span life shorted. I do remember xbox entering the last gen war in the middle of the way, just when the dreamcast was fadding away and the ps2/cube were still fighting for the top

The Xbox was launched before the Gamecube in Europe, for that I'm sure. And according to Wikipedia it had a couple days head start of Ninty's console in North America. The two consoles had almost simultaneous launches. Also, at no point were the Gamecube and the PS2 'fighting' for top spot.

Basically, the Xbox had three good years, but it could of have another three if it weren't for Microsoft bringing the axe down due to financial reasons. Yeah, it bled money, but games like Riddick showed there was so much untapped potential.

Although happy with the current gen, and seeing no need to jump to the next gen yet;
I find myself looking forward to things to come.

Above all I find myself being disappointed with the plethora of sub-gamecube quality games that were mercilessly and shamelessly dumped on the Wii.
I really hope the shovel-fest doesn't continue next gen.

It shouldn't. The plethora of bad games is because most dev houses were already invested in PS360 technology by the time they figured out that Wii development was worth a damn. If, in the long road for preparing for next generation, they actually think to count Nintendo into their plans, there should actually be some solid support from the beginning, rather than taking 2-3 years to finally come around

I've been saying a Wii successor should be coming by late 2011-2012 for ages. It makes sense.

I'm not too sure about that, actually. The Wii is still selling strongly 3 years out of the gate (yes, sales have slowed in the last few months, but that could be caused by any number of things), and it seems like Nintendo has no plans to stop supporting the Wii just yet, as evidence by the slew of games they're planning to release for it.

Besides, the first thing they revealed about their next system was two years before it happened, when they said they were making a system that would revolutionize the gaming world.

I've played two games this year on my Wii. The Conduit is a big stinky turd and the other I forget the name of.

No More Heroes is the last game I beat on Wii. Might be the only game I beat on Wii.

It is a whopping turd of a system for me. I like HD, online, shooters, adventure, strategy, etc.

Party games are for Rock Band.

If there really is a Wii 2 coming and if it's actually named like that or as something that connects it to the Wii, I would think Nintendo would make backwards compatibility a major priority - especially if the new console isn't far off.

i'm pretty sure they already got an ARM procesor with mayor hd capabilities.

I mean, they still are using ATi tech to deply the graphics, and we know how Ati like to be on top of the brand when it comes to graphics cards

Those who are whining about motion controls, HDMI ports, etc are PS360 fanboys who NEVER intended on purchasing a Nintendo system in the first place. They're the ones who straight up dissed the N64 and Gamecube (when those WERE hardcore systems) and now hate on Nintendo because they are kicking ass and are successful. So as far as I'm concerned their opinion carries little to no weight. I'm actually happy with the Wii, I just want to see Nintendo expand their development studios so that we can get some more exclusive stuff. Not having Rare anymore kinda sucks and we need to have some AAA titles like that again (Killer Instinct, Goldeneye, Banjo-Kazooie, etc). Retro Studios is working on a brand new title so that's a start.

Backwards compatability shouldn't be too hard, wireless controllers means they wouldn't even need a controller port like they did for gamecube.

While PS3 and 360 wants the casual Nintendo market, I wonder what N is planning for its next gen. Are Sony and MS's systems even half way into the next gen yet? Has Sony even recovered its costs for the PS3, what about MS.

Wii has a huge installed base 53mil according to vgchartz, its the best selling console this gen. How come most developers don't take it seriously.

If Microsoft proved anything with the original Xbox, it's that they don't care at all how much money they lose, as long as they get results. That's why i think they'll either be first to make a new system, or will move soon after Nintendo if they're first, but this time they won't drop the old system (in this case, the 360), like a hot potato, because the 360 isn't ruinously loss-inducing like the original Xbox was.

Sony, who actually does care about making money, may wait it out a bit to try and shore up PS3 profits, and build against the early losses that their next system will entail.

I think the move into next generation will be more gradual across all three, since Nintendo will want to prioritize backwards compatibility, and Sony and Microsoft may make only Wii-like jumps in power (which means about twice as strong, though, something that would be much more noticeable than the Wii transition)

No More Heroes is great and I’m anxious for the sequel. I hope Nintendo’s next has a way of playing Wii games. I'm ready for the next Nintendo console, though. I love the Wii, but it seems like there's more to PS3/Xbox360 games that just the HD graphics. So far, I prefer COD:W@W on Wii because of the IR pointing, but the PS3 version has much more capability that I wish the Wii version had. I wonder what we are going to be able to do with all the games we download to the current consoles hard drives and memory after new ones come out?

I just hope that the new console nintendo will bring is compatible with the current wiimote.

We already now the new nintendo platform will be using motion control, pretty sure they'll be using motionplus enabled controls (hell, there's already a 3rd party wiimote with WM+ in it).

that way, we can recycle controls as we did with the gamecube ones.

Else, if the next platform is not bc, i'll just keep my wii and get the new one, as i have with my ps2 and ps3.

I am under the assumption that Nintendo will try to assure profits with each system sold, so by then logistically they will have the manufacturing sites prepped for it. I remember how Nintendo for a time was having a hard time keeping up with the global demand, and now that sales have slowed down possibly gave the company a opportunity to start all the logistics of producing a new system into place, I do thing that as far as hardware goes it will have a slight improvement over the 360 and ps3 since its coming into the market so late, and prices on the components should have dropped by then, I also see that its possible we will waggle a while longer and see a completely new Nintendo system in 2012

No More Heroes is an action video game for the Wii video game system. No More Heroes focuses on social issues. Gameplay is open-ended, with the concession that the player must kill the top ten assassins in order to make the storyline progress. Look at the video here.
