If this is Bungie's doing, then that is really weak of them.

If this MS's doing, then no surprise.

Otherwise, funny in a really unfortunate way.

It's neither persons "doing."

Pre-oder and limited edition DLC always pop up with these prices since they are being added to the marketplace to be downloaded by people with codes, but are not intended for purchase (hence the outrageous price)

You didn't seriously think they wanted people to purchase it for that much did you?

No, but i wouldn't be surprised if someone was really dumb enough to do so.

I mean, stupider things have happened.

It'll be available later.
Count on it.

Just look at the "exclusive maps" given out *only* to those who purchased Gears of War 2 new, not used.
A month later (if that), after they made their sales charts, and they were available to everyone.

Nothing is exclusive anymore. It's all a gimmick.

microsoft and bungie both said that sgt johnson was never going to be sold...
I guess this is a way to keep that promise, while still putting it on the marketplace...

I think it's a safe bet no one is going to be paying $1250 for Sgt. Johnson, no matter how badass he may be, lol. But the same thing happened with the preorder codes for Gears of War 2, they were being 'sold' for 99999 points or whatever.

On a side note, my local Toys R Us was indeed selling the preorder codes today for a whopping penny..

So they're not even going to wait a few weeks before they tell everyone that this is going to be available for purchase, huh? They have no shame...

Has anyone that preordered from Amazon received their code yet? Or do they usually send it out a little while later? I haven't received an email from them yet.

Wait...6 comments in and no one with a PS3 saying anything about this. Let me say it for you:

Uncharted 2 offers Sergeant Johnson for only $9.99 if you also buy The Wizard of Oz Ultimate Tin Man Edition for $39.99 on Blu-Ray. All hail The Cell Processor!

To those of you have already picked up ODST, aside from it being Sergeant Johnson, is it really worth it? I'm trying to decide whether to pick up my $5 preorder, or go to Toys R Us and get the $20 gift card and figure there instead.

I debated the same thing then I realized...
Wait. An in game character only playable in one game mode (Firefight)? ...or $20 towards another game and a happy meal toy.
The figure looks really cool, but seems to be...inexpensive. The detail is there, but the wrist broke trying to put the gun in his hand and the other arm just seems to like to disconnect. But hey, a touch of glue and it's fine. Free is free.
I say go with TRU. You could even use $10 of the $20 you save to buy the Sgt. Johnson code off of ebay.

I didn't even pre-order ODST, but walked into Target today and bought it, and the cashier in the electronics department tossed the code into my bag when I checked out. I assume they had more codes than people who pre-ordered, and are just giving it out to anyone who buys the game.

That's actually pretty damn funny XD

In-game preorder bonuses are kind of annoying though.

But oh well, it'll most likely be DLC sooner or later.

I'll have some codes on eBay in a few days. I pre-ordered 10 copies from Best Buy. I'll return said pre-orders, sans the box with the code. I get my money back, I get a free code. I sell it on eBay, and I eventually make enough to pay for the game.

P.S. I was just kidding. I have no idea if he bought it or not. Seems like something he would do though.

I don't have ODST but I had an extra 1,200 bucks laying around so I downloaded it, but I can't figure out how to make it work. Where is my Johnson? How to I make my Johnson spawn?

It always bothers me when early adapters get shafted. I pre-ordered Gears2 and paid $50+ and have not purchased the $30 or so of add on maps and they are now releasing the platinum edition for $19.99 that includes all the maps BUT said maps continue to sell on marketplace for the same price.
Thanks Microsoft for showing how you really feel about those that buy games on launch date! You have now joined Ubisoft in the ranks of bargin bin or 4gitaboutit.
The smartest move Bungie could make would be to offer the Sargent Johnson skin only to those that pre-ordered the game, knowing that in a year or so it will be selling for $30-$40 but those that pre-ordered got something unique for their $60. It's that kind of value added incentive that inspires folks to be repeat customers.

60 bucks for the full game is overpriced to hell as it is. I like how Bungie keeps blatantly making fools out of their fanbase. : )
