I say wait to see if we hear a few of these rumored over the next 3 weeks. Then we know it's true. Anything related to the Sony gaming division has been a poorly kept secret this year.

all great ideas, but we still need to catch up with the jap psn on all of those ps1 classics. Don't get me wrong, we have been getting some nice titles but still missing out on a lot of great ones. Dreamcast games would be amazing as well as the ps2 emulator if it works on all ps3 versions.

The PS2 emulation is the only reason i'm holding on to my 60gig...It's been repaired 4 times now, but i refuse to let it go cus of its ability to play PS2 games.
If they release PS2 games on PSN i'd deffo go for a PS3 slim.

GET IT DONE, AYE!?!?!

How about up-front buy (say $20-$30) to add PS2 compatibility, then sell PS2 games digitally for $10-25, and those of us with discs can just use them still?

So if they have an emulator for the PS2 & Dreamcast that allows for DL of the titles over PSN would that mean that I could still play them from the Discs? I have TONS of PS2 & Dreamcast games.

That would be a fantastic way to sell the 'It only does everything' line of advertising.

I just thought of something... Didn't the GD ROM from the Dreamcast have to read some info close to the center of the spindle? Would the PS3s drive even be able to deal with that?

If all this is true then I am going to have to go buy a larger HD...

I doubt they'd let people play Dreamcast games from discs, considering that dreamcast games had absolutely no copy protection and you can just burn CD-R's. They wanna make money off this after all.

They could do a check to ensure it was reading a true GD ROM disc not Game data from a CD ROM. The drives CAN tell the difference between the two formats.

I PRAY this is true. I would like to sell my system collection as I am tired of meticulously packaging them whenever I move(which has been ALOT). Now if only Saturn could get some lovin, then I can leave the system collecting in piece(and still get to relive the classics).

Dreamcast on PSN.. I'd like that very much :]

And hopefully a "PS2 Emulator" would mean back-compat for actual DISCS as well.

I mean come on Sony, if you can't offer hardware-based back-compat, you should AT LEAST patch in the ability for software-based emulation (preferably with sequential updates as with the 360). Just use the code from that old 80gb model and make some improvements.

Dear SCEA,

Hi. I don't want to buy a new or used PS2 to play my favorite PS2 NFS game (NFS:MW), and I certainly wouldn't want my friends and family to rebuy all their PS2 collections. Since it doesn't affect me if you just put them on the PSN (ALL OF EM I HOPE), all 1800 of em, because I don't own no more PS2 titles...I would be content with you just bringing all NFS & MGS series. Oh and please please bring my favorite Sonic Game- Sonic: Adventure Battle [second goes Sonic XD: Director's Cut (GC...i heard a HD remix is coming), then Sonic Heroes, then Sonic Battle (GBA)]

Let me review for all I ask for again sony(in order of importance):
1- NFS: MW
2- all NFS games
3- all MGS games
4- Sonic Adventure Battles 2 (wasn't this and XD for dreamcast too?)

Yours Truly,
JJ_SHINOBI

I wonder if those with no BC systems could play the PS2 disc or if we are being forced to rebuy our games similar to PS1 games as most PS1 disc don't run well on the PS3.
