A Team Fortress 2 forum poster named Pyranodon recently uploaded a magnificent piece of fan art for the cartoony shooter: A fake TF2 Class Update detailing the abilities of the game's new "Guard Dog." Though this canine is obviously way too overpowered to be implemented (it's a spy-tracker and a Jarate dispenser!), it's a pretty convincing mock-up -- so convincing, in fact, that Valve's Saxton Hale recently drafted a letter of commendation to the update's creator.
Well, perhaps "drafted" isn't the appropriate word to use there. Now that we think about it, neither is "commendation." We don't want to spoil it for you -- check out the fake update, check out the letter, and then join us as we happily remember why we love Valve so very much.

Perhaps that should be added to my Planeteer Powers? Power of the Hoff and Furries?
Or perhaps Power of the Furry Hoff. With all that chest hair he must be part wolf or something. :3
This may be a double or triple post because none of my replies are showing up. :(

I'd love a full Team Fortress 2 story driven companion game, even if it were only skirmish scenarios like Chapter X in Conker L&R. TF2 has way too much personality and underutilized potential to be limited to non-persistent multiplayer. Either that, or a cartoon (the "Meet The XXX" are testament to that!). Seems the only way we'd see something crazy like an outfitted support dog.
A heap of kudos to the creator!

That was illarious. Very well done by the creator of the Dog and that letter from Valve is just pure Win. Awesome Indeed! You got to love the way they act with their fanbase and recognise this kind if fan work.
But I'll be starting a protest group against the Watch Guard. Maybe they will invite me over their office so I can pretend to be bought out....

Everyone sucks at TF2. The best players are just more self confident. It's sort of like Killzone 2's hurdle, once you realize everyone is playing with the same god-awful controls you are, you realize you actually stand a chance - All you have to do is believe in yourself!
Yeah! Go team! Alright!

I thought so too until I read the second page that said English isn't his primary language and he apologized for the incorrect grammar etc...

Pity their Left 4 Dead team didn't give the same treatment. Some forum member drafted up the Charger concept, Valve put it wholesale into Left 4 Dead 2 and didn't bother to acknowledge or credit the forum thread at all.

That's assuming that the L4D team hadn't already had the idea before the forum made it.
Considering they started work of L4D2 very shortly after L4D1's release, it seems pretty plausible. It's possible it was an idea they had before L4D1 and cut it due to it being too powerful when combined with L4D1's other boss zombies. I mean, I think only the Hunter and possibly one other (Guessing the Tank if I'm remembering things correctly here) are making it into L4D2 with the new ones.

Frankly I think it could make a great 10th class with some balance tweaks.
And just imagine the voice lines other classes could respond to the pooch with.
Heavy: "Somebody has been VERY GOOD PUPPY!"

Don't love Valve too much. They're neglecting HL2:EP3 for Left 4 Dead 2! I'm sure L4D2 is a bigger money maker, but don't leave the HL2 story unfinished!! I'm betting that when Gordon takes off his suit at the end, we discover he's really a woman. Holy Screwattack!!
I think the Guard Dog should be added. I hate spies. Quit stabbing me!

First: How would L4D2 be the bigger money maker? Episode 3 will sell waaay more copies than either L4D games would.
Second: You are aware Gordon Freeman isn't Master Chief right? There is an actual face to Gordon Freeman which they've shown on the covers.

Valve you are going about this the wrong way please stop before you self destruct. You have to take all fun out of making videogames, that guy shouldn't be commended he should be sued for every penny his got for using your art assets. Follow the Kotick commandments and save your business :)

Well there must be some reason Valve is pushing out L4D games instead of HL:EP3. Who knows. The L4D series has way more hype right now compared to Halflife. I wouldn't be surprised if L4D made more money than EP3. I don't see figures to show one way or the other. Valve didn't charge a full price for EP2, whereas L4D games start at $60 and are released across all platforms simultaneously. EP3 may end up being a full price game, and HL has a huge fanbase but zombie games seem too (excessively) popular right now.
I know that Gordon's face is on the game covers, but you don't see his reflection in the game, and he never speaks. That, plus the fact that he constantly wears a suit sounds like grounds for a Samus reference.
