While Microsoft and Netflix underlings tiptoe around the issue of the movie-rental company's streaming service for other game consoles -- currently "exclusive" to Xbox 360 -- Netflix CEO Reed Hastings tells Reuters he wants the feature on every console. The executive notes that "currently [Netflix's] Xbox deal is exclusive and [Netflix hasn't] characterized it more than that," leaving the door at least slightly ajar for other consoles and media devices to enter into Netflix streaming deals of their own.
That's the big question: For how long is the exclusivity agreement between Netflix and Microsoft, and is it renewable? Answering that question -- believe us, we've tried -- would tell us when to expect a flood of Netflix-streaming systems.

I tested the waters when it was around $30.00 and wish I would've bought more at that price.

sure it is.....ALL those people that bought first gen iPhone at launch only to have the price hacked by $300 a few months later LOVED the fact that they got the first ones....
as did the people that bought Blu-ray and HD-DVD players at launch paying $800+ for them only to have the prices drop like hell in a year AND the later to be dropped support of altogether....lol

Swag....Wait forever?? Hmmmm Lets see.....Did the 360 LAUNCH with a Video Marketplace?? nope....neither did the PS3...did the 360 LAUNCH with Netflix?? no...neither did the PS3....it would seem as if MS launching a year early and getting money from EARLY Adopters helped to fund the way for us newer 360 owners to enjoy the fruits of something that we didn't even have to pay extra for...and its funny that you should mention that waiting makes something less new...fact is..when Bioshock came out a year later on PS3 it had MORE content for LESS than the 360 version....Fallout 3 GoTY edition will be on PS3 as well as 360....and guess what?? it will be cheaper than it was at launch+ what ever the cost of the DLC is....hell I can buy it and enjoy it just the same still....OR I can RENT it and NOT have to pay for the DLC that you paid for...then lets go take a look at Tales of Vesperia...a game that came out almost a year earlier on 360 than PS3 yet in its FIRST WEEK Sold more than the LIFETIME Sells on the 360....so getting content first IS Beneficial....the 360 sells helped in these cases to fund the PS3 version

@swagman the thing your forgetting is with features like netflix you need to be a gold subscriber(so you essentially are paying a early adopter fee)... if that feature comes to the PS3 for free then its going to be really embarrassing. If that feature was available to silver members then I might have kept my 360. I'm not about to pay extra just to have that feature early, especially when the netflix plan I was on was already $20 bucks a month. Patience is something that shouldnt be too big a deal with gaming because there are so many different games to pass the time until the content your waiting for does come. Your point about the "new" wering off is complete crap by the way... I played the Bioshock demo when it came out on xbox and loved the game but never got around to buying it, I bought it like a two months ago on the PS3 and loved every moment and it was plenty new because of the simple fact that I never played the entire game before.

Same here. I don't have Netflix because I'm not a fan of waiting a day or two for a movie to come in when I may not be in the mood to watch it when it arrives. I like the idea of having a full catalog of HD movies at my fingertips on my PS3. It's easier and more convenient. Bring on Netflix.

Why did y'all downvote this? All he's saying is that Netflix would have one more customer if it were available on his console.
Which is exactly what the CEO of Netflix wants, and is the point of this article.
Ya'll are getting a little crazy on the downvotes on this article.
Hit me, too if you want. It don't matter to Jesus.

If one has an HDTV home theater set up they most likely already have a Blu-Ray player hooked up to it PS3 or otherwise. Netflix will not trump the reason to get another PS3.
Your buyers remorse with the 360 seems personal because it has enough exclusives that make it worth sitting next to a PS3. Especially after you realize that the mass majority of multiplatform games are better suited on the 360 than the PS3, everything to up converting everything to 1080P to slightly more polished shading and lighting to the better left stick placement. Of course there are exceptions to this rule (SF4 being one of them) but it is the general rule for most multiplatform gamers like myself.

aside from the price drop there is no buyers remorse.....I was simply saying that I would have chosen a BD player/console instead of a 360 which only has 2 MUST HAVE titles for me had the price been lower....and I know quite a few people that have an HDTV setup without a Blu-ray player on it...crazier stuff has happened....ya know...like the 30% of HDTV owners back in 2006 that thought just because they had an HDTV they were getting an HD Signal....yet all they were watching was straight stretched out shit

Lovefilm? Yes. They only have like 2000, most of them indy or crap. For a few hundred good ones you have to pay anyway, even if you are on a subscription. Also, I can't see their service coming to either PS3 nor XBox.

WELL DUH!!
Fact is....the "exclusive" time that Netflix being only on the 360 is coming to an end...which is why you didnt hear them tell you this during the Interview you guys had with them a while back...my guess it that it was only for 12-18 months....
It would be SUICIDE for them to seriously limit themselves to the 360....leaving the streaming space open on to other consoles that are in another 20 million+ Homes...
My guess is We will see it operational on the PS3 & MAYBE the Wii come CES in January...and will Roll out to the PS3 by Summer....
if we have to pay a one-time fee of like $10 I'd do it....at the same time Free would be a lot better

I don't see why it would be out of the question...I mean if other BD Players are having baked in then how hard would it be to put it in via a simple FREE firmware update...

i know im going to get berated for this but what is the difference between what netflix is offering on the 360 and what sony has in their video store other than give or take a few titles. is it not the same thing? ccan you stream videos from the psn video store i thought you could. im in europe and we havent got that service yet so i dont know.
Another question- if they are indeed the same, then why would the psn need netflix, im sorry ive just never understood why the 360 having netflix exclusivity was such a coup.
