Though the recent Nintendo press release announcing the Wii's new $199 price point was, for the most part, completely devoid of surprises, one new nugget of info was embedded in the stuff we already knew -- the release date for New Super Mario Bros. Wii has transformed from the ever-ambiguous "holiday 2009" to a decidedly more rigid "November 15." We can think of one mustachioed plumber who's not afraid of a little Modern competition. Bold, sir. Rather bold.

Yea I think they should have done toad and peach like Super Mario Bros. 2. But I guess that would leave us with no one to save.

I'm still crossing my fingers for Peach and Daisy as unlockable characters.
Not holding my breath, though. The 2 Toads and lack of online kind of kill some of my enthusiasm for this game, to be honest. I don't think they're phoning it in by any means, but they're definitely not going all out with it, either.

Agreed. It looks fun but from the trailers it doesn't feel very creative ala Galaxy or Paper Mario on Wii. For better or worse you are going to get the same games you used to play on the old consoles with better graphics and different twists. Kind of like Punch Out was ... you know? At least Nintendo is trying this year unlike last year. The thing I don't get is that for the most part they aren't doing some of their best stuff. I would love the tits off of a new F-Zero, Starfox or like a newer version of the Donkey Kong 64.
Also, where is the online co-op for this game? It seems so obvious for THIS game above all others to have online play.

I want a new F-Zero too, Johnny. I miss Samurai Goroh.

I played this at PAX, and it wasn't really that great. It was extremely chaotic, there were these annoying platforms that players tipped by tipping their wiimotes, and the game paused for a second every time someone got a mushroom or died. It may seem like a little thing, but having it happen every 15-30 seconds was maddeningly frustrating.

Normally Mario + Platform = Me want. But playing this at E3 really wasn't that fun to me. You know how every time you get a power-up or something in a Mario game it pauses for a split second? Imagine that happening constantly to three people who aren't you. I kept missing jumps and stuff because of it.
Still, I dunno. It's Mario. Maybe I'll rent it. God I'm weak.

damn 2 ppl in a ow just mentioned that. It would kill the flow of the game. Hopefully it isn't in the final release.
