Ubisoft has tweeted that the PC version of Assassin's Creed II has been delayed to 2010. Specifically, the game has been moved to the ever-so-crowded first quarter of 2010. According to the necessarily brief announcement, Ubisoft has decided to delay the PC version in order to secure "a bit more time for the dev team to deliver the best quality game."
Considering Ubisoft's own Yves Guillemot stated that early 2010 is "looking pretty crazy" and warned that some Spring 2010 titles may be delayed again, this is all very amusing. Unless you've been waiting for the PC version of Assassin's Creed II, of course.

hopefully that means they will be supporting DirectX11 and even more hopefully they will package it in with the GTX300 cards.

Why support dx11? because Nvidia will have its DX11 cards out in Q1 2010. Aka the G300 which they'll want people to buy. So they'll want to give people a good reason to start using DX11. Shocking eh?
If you've been able to recover from that tremendous shock, next remember that Assassin's creed 1 and 2 are both sponsered by Nvidia's Way Its Meant To Be Played program and additional funding. So much so that when DX10.1 was giving better performance to ATI users in Assassin's creed 1, it was patched-out so nvidia cards were still the fastest.

I disagree. While ATI might have "jumped the gun" on the consumer level, it means that developers have a DirectX 11 card by ATI, not by nVidia or Intel.

What about

Also, if MW2 delays to Q1 '10, will all these titles undelay themselves?

Dunno exactly what point you are trying to make. This got delayed because of technical reasons and it's only one version of the game, which is the version that will sell the least as well.
I think a lot of these delays were brought about by seeing the growing trend to give devs more polish time. ACII on PC just wasn't up to snuff yet probably, and Ubi wanted to focus on getting ACII on 360 and PS3 stronger while still releasing this year. Just my assumptions though.

Also, the PC version is still usually the definitive version of the game, assuming your hardware can run it.
Gamepad support on PC has increased substantially, largely thanks to Games for Windows branding.
It just takes a long time to support and optimize a game across a wide array of hardware configurations, and sometimes that work requires a delay for specifically the PC version.
The real shame is that some studios aren't up the the task of porting to PC, due to smaller sales on the platform. Either they don't invest the money necessary to do a port justice, or they decide that the port isn't feasible at all.
Where's my PC version, Brutal Legend?

I'm willing to wait for a quality product. Both AC1 and ME were quite late, but they were also undeniably better than the console counterparts. Graphics aside, ME had a revamped interface that actually made sense, and AC had a bunch of extra mini-missions in each of the cities.
As much as I hate delayed titles, I hate shoddy, buggy, incomplete ports more. If you're going to do it, do it right.
Except Valve. They could stand to hurry HL2: E3 along a bit.

You just gave two of the leading reasons why I gave up on PC gaming - Assassin's Creed and Mass Effect were some of the buggiest pieces of software I've ever ran. And that was after waiting patiently as my console owning friends had played and beaten the games months earlier.
Assassin's Creed had a really annoying graphical glitch on Nvidia cards that caused the middle of the screen to be really blockly, plus it didn't even fully support the Xbox 360 controller (even though it's the recommended controller according to the back of the box). Just try configuring the triggers to work like the 360 version - it's impossible. Plus the menu was designed by idiots (you had to log out of your save profile and log back in just to exit the game).
Mass Effect crashed on me multiple times, Therum was unplayable without installing the DLC, plus sounds would randomly not play (I'm running an X-Fi Titanium, and the back of the box says the game works best on X-Fi!). Plus I suspected that the game was forced into a super hard difficulty - the game was so much easier on 360.
Maybe the PC version is the best graphically, but I'll enjoy being able to get a game months before PC gamers, plus being able to finish the game without having to wait for 3 patches and endlessly reading forum posts about how to work around glitches.

Haven't played AC yet, have played ME on the PC and got 9 hours in until I got the Feros elevator glitch which also affects the 360 version I found. I installed the recent patch which claims to fix it but it says I need to install the Bring Down The Sky DLC. I've been too busy to fix it yet, I may just start over the game again and hope there won't be any issues again.

I'll agree that AC had some consolitis to it, especially with the bizarre navigation, but I didn't have any of those other problems.
I played AC on NVIDIA cards in SLI, and got none of the blockiness. As for the controller, I never even came across that issue. IMO, why play it on PC if you're not going to leverage the PC's biggest advantage: Keyboard and Mouse controls
I take it you played ME using a gamepad as well, which explains the difficulty. On the consoles, it has aggressive auto-aim, while the PC version all but leaves you alone. This makes using a thumbstick to aim vastly more difficult. As for the crashes, I've played through 3 times on 2 PCs, and it did crash. Once. When I was running lots of background processes. My roommate played it twice on another PC, and it just never crashed. I found myself just leaving it paused when I went to bed/work, because it was bulletproof! I'm not saying your experience isn't true, I'm just saying you might want to look into possible hardware/driver conflicts, background conflicts, etc. because I've not seen it happen. Oh, and I bought it the day it came out, so no patches for me!
Basically I'm saying, no, these aren't perfect, but what mass of 7+GB of code designed to run on a huge array of machines is perfect? Compare these ports to something like GTA IV or Saints Row 2...

In the case of Assassin's Creed, they fixed that glitch with a patch, plus it only affected users running at certain resolutions (my monitor runs at 1680x1050, and that's one of them that was affected). As for playing with a gamepad, I tried the mouse and keyboard and the controller, and I felt it just played better with a controller. It is a console port, after all.
As for ME, no, I played it with a mouse and keyboard - the game doesn't support any controllers. The issue I ran into was fighting the boss at the top of the elevator after freeing one of your allies (I won't drop any spoilers). Even putting the difficulty on the easiest setting, there was no was I could beat him. On 360, I beat him on the first try. (Yes, the game was so unplayable for me that I gave up and bought a 360.)
I'm not saying some people didn't have problems - there's some games that work perfectly for me and others have nothing but problems - but I've just gotten sick of having every PC game purchase be a complete gamble. I'm willing to sacrifice a bit of graphic quality if it means there's a substantially better chance I won't be wasting my time and money.

I wonder if also the game could come out for the PC the same time as the console versions, but Microsoft chose to delay it to encourage sales of the 360 version. Maybe there are no technical glitches or anything of the sort, so many other multiplatform releases on the PC and consoles have been simultaenous, why not this?
Microsoft behind the scenes is stabbing the PC in the back as many times as it can to further the 360, they would secretly like us to throw our gaming rigs into the trash and purchase a 360 instead.
Mass Effect 2 better come for the PC the same time as the 360 version. >: (

I suppose that's why all of the industry's major technological breakthroughs (in terms of both hardware and software) are taking place on our platform, not yours. Don't worry, though; provided Microsoft and Sony don't take a page from Nintendo's playbook, you might be lucky enough to get your hands on our sloppy seconds during the next console generation.

dragon age- (PC version held to coincide with console)
borderlands- (consoles out, EVEN THE PS3, on the 20th, PC version a week later)
and now assassins creed 2, in which i wanted to get AC2 on PC because i loved AC1 on PC. i played it first on 360, re bought for 20$ on PC.
anything else getting effed over for the mediocre consoles???

OK, this may be a stupid question, but I'm not really an experienced gamer, but: will there ever be an Assassin's Creed II for Mac?

The delay , if they say it's for anti-piracy , is a total bull. How many of us can see today the Assassin's Creed II on XBOX360 has been pirated? Not even 1 full day and it's released on numerous forums and torrents.
I don't have problems buying their original (for PC) but they need to cut the crap on the release date. If it's a technical problem, at least tell us you are having problem on the technical side, not the bullshit-anti-piracy thingy.

When the AC II lunched on Xbox 360 and PS3 i thought that it was going to come out on PC the same day. They even don't update they're blog. There was no information on AC II homepage that AC II was going to be delayed. PS 3 and Xbox 360 practically puting down the PC gaming. Like the GTA. GTA 3 on PC, PS 2, Xbox and most how liked the GTA 3 bought it on PC not xbox or ps2. Now there are the Lost and Damned and Ballad of Gay Tony that ar only for Xbox 360(WTF). They should release thouse games on PC to. It's so anoing that most good games are not coming out for PC at all
