"So...it's just a more powerful computer?"

"Yeah, it's pretty cool, we changed a few things."

"That's good. Yeaah... I'm just worried that it'll be a tough sell..."

"Hrm. Why not tell them it'll blow the fucking world up?"

"Oooh good Idea!"

Can we sue Alienware for false advertising yet?

A new laptop is hardly shaking "the foundation of the gaming industry". I demand a refund for what little expectations I had from Alienware's impossible boast. Unless that new laptop has time travel capabilities or cures cancer or plays games from all consoles and PC generations, I declare shenanigans on Alienware.

What funds would be refunded to you? Expectation, although it has a similar stench, isn't the same as money.

Jeez, Dell XPS > Alienware.

And yes, I know they're the same company.

Having owned two different XPS and an alienware, XPS is way below what alienware offers, even at the same price point.

Alienwares can be expensive, but you can get a killer desktop and laptop now for about the same you'd pay for a Dell with lesser parts and technology.

But, building your own will always result in the cheapest solution. Of course, you have to be pretty good at computer building to get some items working like what Alienware has done.

Geezuz, building your own > anything else out there

And for laptops, Apple's are pretty nice.

Geeze, PC building is monkey work these days. You can't put anything in wrong, the OS installs itself, the hardest part is researching the equipment to buy and you can do that by using Alienware's customize page.

This isn't the old days where you could plug cords in upside down and OS installation required 5 drivers be pre-loaded with perfect timing. You'd have to be a world class moron to not be able to build a system in 2 hours or less (and I'm being generous).

Release a laptop with an external Expresscard 2.0 slot or similar so we can plug in desktop GPUs for greater performance than mobile graphics cards and more upgradability in the future. Very few laptops can have their internal graphics cards upgraded and then again, with only a handful to choose from.

Its already possible to connect desktop GPUs to a laptop with the ViDock, but the current Expresscard 1.0 bottlenecks the bandwidth.

Then I can replace my desktop with a laptop. : )

We don't have enough games that take advantage of a PC's power like Crysis. Too many games now are console ports to the PC.

The good news is those with laptops and older rigs can run modern games very well, whereas those with a GTX 285 for instance are playing Devil May Cry 4 at 100fps at 1920x1200 resolution, overkill.

Devs will focus on the consoles, they are the weakest but generate the most profit, whereas the PC has unlimited power, but so much fucking piracy. But if piracy on consoles was as easy as the PC, piracy would be as bad on consoles as well, look at the early PSP days of piracy.

if it was maybe a 1, 000 dollars that would be worth it for the laptop...otherwise...alienware is being dumb as shit as always.
