Having to manipulate a DS3 in one hand while wanding with the other for some games is going to make this child unfriendly.

I'm guessing they were trying to show how you can have a hybrid controller scheme where you don't have to stick to one or the other.

I'm pretty confident that "child friendly" games wont need 2 controllers anyway so I wouldn't worry about it.

In regards to sames such as Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2, having to manipulate a DS3 in one hand while wanding with the other for some games is going to make this fap unfriendly.

What does a game's rating have to do with a control scheme?

@Anthology: I don't he was referring to content. Often times more difficult and awkward control schemes aren't as easy for children to use and thus, less child friendly.

Where has anyone read about using a DualShock3 AND Wand? Is English your second language?

"LittleBigPlanet being controlled by two people, one wielding a motion wand while the other used a DualShock 3"

See it said TWO PEOPLE, not one person using TWO controllers! In other words it was showing off that if you like LitteBigPlanet it's your choice. You could play multi-player & if one person has a wand they can play with that, while the other player could use the DS3 both in the same game.

*sigh*

When I first heard it I was disappointed, then I thought "ok RE5 Wii edition basically"...then they described how it would work, and I realized that I'd probably prefer the current, awful, RE5 controls instead.

I can see this making RE5 more interesting and a lot of fun with other people around.

But I'm still not keen on them re-releasing RE5. Even for a "director's cut."

Is that oval thing some sort of newly-designed analog stick? I hope it is. I don't see how games like Resident Evil 5 would work well without one.

As long as most of these existing titles receive support via free updates, I'm all for it. I'm a big fan of both this and Natal, and there are definitely some games that could benefit from motion control.

I'd still rather see a one of these with a slightly longer handle than have to actually hold a DualShock 3 while I use the motion controller:

I'm really curious as to how we're supposed to hold the DS3 in our left hand and still use the wand in our right.

Easy all you would need to use on the DS3 controller would be the analog stick and the triggers. Of course it might be a little easier to use the ol' sixaxis as a second controller since its lighter.

@Kinsey
I believe that using the triggers and the analog of the DS3 and a motion wand would be really difficult. Unless you have 7 fingers. Or 3 hands.

Will Sony release their own Wii Sports or other starter game to bundle with this?

It is really surreal to me to see this motion controller for the PS3, I always thought the Wii and 360/PS3 would be very distinct from each other but the lines get more blurry and blurry.

This is one hell of a console generation.

As long as the motion controls are an option, not a requirement, that's fine. I may like them, I may not. But don't force me to use it for every game made after the controllers release.

Oh, and don't release an add on three years after launch saying 'Now it works the way it was supposed to!"

Hopefully it's not too late.

Fix what exactly? Motion controls will add to the experience, not fix what is already there.

This IS the same Sony that FINALLY added Analog control to Lair though.

Good christ, I am so ashamed.

Good thing Sony paid for, produced, published, own the IP and associated copyrights and trademarks, and distributed/controlled the release of Lair and associated content including post-release patches. In other words, they greenlit an analog control patch and they allowed it on the network when it was finished.

asshat

again, factor5, not sony, Sony never told them to go motion sensing only, and did not tell them to patch it. especially since the analog controls were present from day 1 using PSP or sixaxis-less USB controllers

so Microsoft announces support for natal, and sony announces games for the PS3... i wonder if getting their motion tech out sooner will give them the upper hand, ive got to say any wiiHD that might have been coming just became obsolete(except for first party titles). PS3 is now likely to be the best of all worlds, the only thing to compare now are exclusives. I cant wait to see if Microsoft actually has any uses for natal...

Because it would follow the argument for faster aiming and being unfair.
For example the keyboard and mouse against a console controller.

I feel like this should be a free update for the existing RE5 owners. Re-buying RE5 AND buying their new motion control/PSeye isn't very appealing.

Hopefully this will improve the game, the best version of RE4 was definitely on the wii, and from the demos, sonys controller is pretty impressive.

Even if it's half price, no way. Maybe in the form of $10 DLC? I really think Sony should make it free, it'll help people quickly get into their new controller and help their platform overall.

This is great news. motion control is just the start, wait till body and head tracking enter the equation. Add some 3D and you have an experience no other curretn gen console is capable of.
