Teeny bopper final fantasy.
TwEE @ Sep 25th 2009 4:11PM
Thats every Final fantasy isn't it?
Levi @ Sep 25th 2009 5:59PM
don't forget to go troll mario posts about how they are just kids' games.
CJLopez @ Sep 25th 2009 3:49PM
Different, but i'm liking how its comming out. Its different, and sometimes different its good
Frostblade10 @ Sep 25th 2009 4:48PM
The first thing I thought of when the music started was Heavy Metal, the movie..
I saw some slowdown. I hope they optimize the hell out of it.
Solace @ Sep 25th 2009 3:50PM
Still no Crystal BEARS..
[ArchiGamer] [Painstakingly Written Before A Live Audience] @ Sep 25th 2009 3:54PM
Wow, that's -way- different than the other Crystal Chronicles.
Me likely.
Phil @ Sep 25th 2009 4:00PM
Sorry... But this isn't what I remember signing up for.
I mean hell, even MLaaK and MLaaDL had some essence from the original and so did RoF as well but...
Man, Crystal Bearers just lacks the appeal it had from that original trailer way back when. It's like they're taking the sonic route, I.E. when in doubt, EXTREEEEEME.
I'll most likely try the game anyways but... I have a feeling the old days of fun dungeon crawling, easy hacking and slashing and fun four player co-op are dead.
Oh and the Celtic feel is completely non-existent. This is no longer a lush, mystic and unique world. ~_~
[ArchiGamer] [Painstakingly Written Before A Live Audience] @ Sep 25th 2009 4:04PM
Well it does take place in the future, so that Celtic landscape probably has changed to something more futuristic.
MRLN the Amazing @ Sep 25th 2009 4:07PM
Wow, you gleaned the fun factor and the entire world from that one trailer? I wish I was as smart as you.
I do agree that it seems to be kinda extreme, though. Let's hope it's just the trailer trying too hard.
Phil @ Sep 25th 2009 5:07PM
Naw, didn't really do much, I gathered info on what to anticipate gameplay wise long ago. An action RPG...
I just... don't really want that from CC. I mean, I HOPE it works and I enjoy it in the end but...
Honestly, I just wanted improvements on the original gameplay system (Change up in weapons and 'class/role' I play, as well as maybe more attacks), a moderate/dramatic improvement to character customization (outfit, facial design, as said earlier, a defined class), a continuation of the main story (a game set either shortly or DIRECTLY after the first, MLaaK intrigued me with the approach to how the people are exploring the world with the miasma gone and I hoped for more like it) and just a graphical improvement.
Now seriously, I'm hoping we get that but really? I would just thought a simple hack and slash combat system would have been good. Akin to kingdom hearts without the over the top flashiness but...
It feels like that IS what happened. And I just don't like where they've gone with the story, I REALLY feel that it wasn't that necessary to focus that much on what happened prior to the first. The series just needed to move forward so... IMHO, this has the CHANCE to work, but I think maybe... Bleh.
tl;dr I don't have high hopes.
Phil @ Sep 25th 2009 10:23PM
Wow, I get downvoted for having a reasonable and non-unruly opinion?
Good to know that the users here at joystiq are strong enforcers of the 'no matter what you say, you're wrong unless you agree with me' policy.
I mean seriously people, what in there was worth voting down? My favoring to previous titles? A general commentary? Or just that I was sharing my thoughts on the game?
I'm allowed to have an opinion but... I can't post about it I guess.
WREturns (Looking for a graphic designer) @ Sep 25th 2009 4:03PM
I think it looks cool.
Demaar @ Sep 27th 2009 1:32PM
Same. I'm probably gonna get downvoted for this, but I'm actually looking forward to this game than FF13...
BunnySlapper @ Sep 25th 2009 4:04PM
They have the DOAXVB Butt Bumper game...
GOTY.
TwEE @ Sep 25th 2009 4:10PM
The thought of using the IR pointer in the wiimote for an action adventure game set in a final fantasy world has got me pretty pumped.
MRLN the Amazing @ Sep 25th 2009 4:12PM
I dislike the music. The country tunes from the last trailer and this new guitar thing aren't very appealing to me. I hope they include some more "sophisticated" tunes to balance it out. But that's my opinion, maybe everybody here absolutely loves it and will argue that it fits the whimsical nature of the game.
Otherwise it looks freaking awesome. Action RPG of the year.
Highlar @ Sep 25th 2009 4:13PM
I happen to like the trailer, and where the game has gone. It feels more souped up and "exciting" than the other FF games, even in the CC side. i also like how Squenix is willing to experiment with the FF formula and see where they can take it.
As to this particular trailer, the beginning and ending are especially good, I think. The beginning, because when Layle is walking down the hallway in the tux he is humming the FF theme tune (not Crystal Chronicles, the "real" FF line) and the end with the double-take the moogle does between looking at Layle and the wanted poster is priceless.
Mighty Ponygirl @ Sep 25th 2009 4:17PM
I'm a little late to this party. We played the first FF:CC on the GameCube and enjoyed it [more or less] as a fun MP game. Will this game have MP as well, or have they abandoned that?
Mr Khan @ Sep 25th 2009 6:28PM
They're taking this in a completely different direction. No multiplayer, no leveling system. This game is like Zelda if Zelda had a really deep weapons system. So i suppose it's Zelda crossed with Phantasy Star Universe (since the weapons are what you need to advance)
AmitZ @ Sep 25th 2009 4:20PM
I like how the person in the beginning hums the Final Fantasy theme.
Suichimo @ Sep 25th 2009 4:23PM
Glad that we got an English trailer for it.
I absolutely can't wait for this.
ronEbear @ Sep 25th 2009 4:24PM
THIS IS GONNA LOOK SOE ASEMOZ@ 640*480, reminds me of the late 80`s , resolution-wise.
Dv8thwonder @ Sep 25th 2009 4:27PM
How do I put vids on Joystiq because this is old, like almost 2 days old.
Hardy @ Sep 25th 2009 4:31PM
I'm sorry for everyone who doesn't seem to enjoy the trailers, but I'm loving it. This is my most anticipated game to come out.
To clear things up though, it seems they split the trailer in two. The first half being about the silly things you can do and the second half more about the somewhat (guessing) serious story in the game.
They did this with the last trailer and I think it works well because the first half will get the attention of the Wii users everyone haste, and the last half gets the attention of the people who still want a Final Fantasy game.
Jack Tretton @ Sep 25th 2009 4:31PM
Bently Bear from Crystal Castles?!
Oh, wait...
Captain_Hairy @ Sep 25th 2009 4:31PM
Well, since pretty much every FF since the release of the PS2 has been soulless and devoid of fun, it's nice to see a little character being reinjected into the franchise. I honestly never thought that a Final Fantasy game would ever interest me again, but this has perked my attention nodules.
Triscuit @ Sep 25th 2009 4:41PM
Is it just me, or does this game become more and more awesome looking as time continues? I have to get a wii soon.... And a 360. And a PS3. Hell, I still need a PS2. Anyone selling?
RagingStormX @ Sep 30th 2009 8:30PM
Yes sirrie bob, you've got Walmart, Best Buy, Ebay, Amazon, FYE, Target, Toys R' Us and Gamestop/EBgames (if thats your thing)...just to name a few. Quickly now young deprived one...don't be shy.
Pst - Just between me and you...all consoles have had a price drop, so you will be paying less than most who got the console before you.......I know its totally awesome, but you didn't hear it from me ;)
Triscuit @ Sep 30th 2009 8:40PM
Why, thank you sir! The main problem isn't a lack of locations selling, but more of a lack of banks that show me having more than 100 dollars to my name.
Unit @ Sep 25th 2009 4:43PM
Im loving the direction and like the fact that it strays from the heavy rpg theme of every other FF game and spinoff. Plus the fact that the main character has these sick powers, knows how to use'em and enjoys it! No "sad i hate myself/don't want these powers" crap here!
Josh @ Sep 25th 2009 5:34PM
Cannot freaking *WAIT*!
Mr Khan @ Sep 25th 2009 6:30PM
It's definitely moved into the top of my contention for a Christmas present, especially with that release date. I won't have a game under the tree, but i'll have it one or two days later either way...
Really seems like it has a lot going on, between the cow abductions, the story vaguely reminiscent of the main-series, and the whole DOAXVB thing going on.
JTUSi @ Sep 25th 2009 7:01PM
Crystal Chronicles meets Tales of Symphonia meets Sonic Adventure(cause the music)
Miku @ Sep 25th 2009 8:14PM
More decent Wii games is a good thing. Might not be GOTY but at least I'll be able to dust off the console for something other than parties.
Van @ Sep 25th 2009 8:14PM
This made me 1000x more excited for this game. I honestly never expected the game would be this humorous. This just became a day one purchase.
samfish [is sad there is no Gene in Tats v Cap =( ] @ Sep 25th 2009 10:53PM
This is the first time I've ever been excited for a Final Fantasy game. Probably in no small part because it's more of an action-adventure game like Zelda and less of a Final Fantasy game.
Definitely buying it on Day 1, for sure.
Fuzunga @ Sep 26th 2009 1:15AM
Putting other things aside for a moment, this game has one of the most intense logos I've ever seen. It looks like it should be some sort of extreme fighting game. Does not go at all with Final Fantasy.
Andy G @ Sep 28th 2009 12:18PM
Much want
Nguyen @ Sep 28th 2009 1:02PM
I'm going to believe that those Selkie girls are of legal age. Yep.
