Wait...did the rest of EU get a price hike on the Wii too back when they jacked the price...or was that just the UK..if so this isnt REALLY that much of a drop

NintendoUK have already said that the Wii will go back to it's original price of £179.99 (£20 lower than what it is now) and will also include Wii Sports Resort with WM+.

Because the UK has had a precipitous currency valuation drop. In essence Brits are already paying a lot less for Wiis than they did at launch, not that they see the benefit of it.

The US has had a currency drop, but not as big as the UK I guess.

It's not really the cheapest console on the market, just tied for cheapest. (Actually, right now the Arcade is the cheapest, and they'll be tied starting on sunday)

179 UK£ = 194.280191 € , It sucks for them that pound is weak right now in relation to the Euro is great for us in the mainland that can buy all my games from the UK at lower prices.

WPStart got it right. In terms of dollars or Yen (but especially Yen), the UK Wii is definitely getting a price-cut, just not in the weakened Pound.

It doesn't stop it from seeming greedy on Nintendo's part, certainly, but there it is.

Okay, here is the official word: Nintendo will implement a price cut across Europe from €249 to €199 with the exception of the UK and Ireland. This region will receive the improved bundle including Wii Sports Resort and Motion Plus. More details on my blog:
