I'm holding on and hoping this will, in all purposes, be the long awaited sequel to one of the best games I have, and probably ever haved, played.

Hope this goes well!!

In a lot of ways, the game makes sense on DS. However, I'm not sure that going with a 3D engine was necessarily the way to go. A good 2D engine would probably be a lot cleaner. But it does look nice for a DS game.

And yes, Okami was great. I commented at the time I played it that it was the best non-Zelda Zelda game I'd ever played, and I stand by that assessment. Too bad it was so criminally overlooked.

Yeah, how dare you not like a game as much as you thought you would (and many others did).
Keep downvoting guys!

First one was great, my only gripe...it was too long.

I think I had 22ish hours logged on that and it wasn't over. I never did beat it. would be awesome to have a hd okami game though.

Really? I was GLAD it was so long! I didn't want it to end! Every time a new plot line popped up, I was overjoyed that I got to play it more.

I'd say you did the right thing not finishing it. I wish someone had warned me to stop playing after the first final boss. After that it just starts to meander and the very end is just ridiculous and ruins the rest of the game if you pay attention to it.

I wish Okami was longer and never ended, myself.

One of the best parts of Okami for me was playing it, thinking I finally beat it and then finding out there was a whole 'nother part to the game.
...then one more epix boss battle later, there's ANOTHER whole part to the game!

Awesome? Yes! Three games in one!

Okami was to me just like samfish described it: Three games in one. Imagine a game with the same structure as the Lord of the Rings book, with very distinct phases, yet all working as a whole, and then make it progressively epic.

It worked wonders for me, and I never wanted it to end even after many long gaming sessions. Truly a masterpiece. I'd kill for a HD version of it today.

Yeah, tru dat!
I thought I'd beaten it twice - at the 12 and 25 hour marks. Then I actually beat it after 38. :D
Although, unlike Lord of the Rings, chapter two was the worst in this trilogy. Not a fan of the poisoned city.

Oh right - I'm already at the final boss battle? Fair enough, I've had a blast playing it at least, even if it is really short.

*after battle*

Oh, ok, that's not the end? Sweet. I like what they're doing. This new area looks really nice and interesting.

...

Final boss area: Ok, this is really the final boss now? I've played this for a long time, and loved every minute of it. Let's do this and finish this game outright.

Mid-way through final boss: Oh damn this cut scene. Now I'm getting nostalgic about characters I only saw a few days ago. Now I'm feeling sad knowing that I'll never experience this new again. Let's make the most of this final tiny part, and go out with a bang.

After finishing game: I've beaten it, had a great time, but I'm now quite sad that I've had my last experience with a new Okami.

A few weeks ago: Holy shit! Okamiden!

So basically, I'm following this game closely.

Space,

Ignore the clover fanboys. It was a good game, but I agree 100% that it was too long. Once the third "segment" begun, I stopped playing for weeks. There are plenty of games that are too long for their own good, Okami is absolutely one of them.

GOTY just because Joystiq said they didn't mess up Okami, which was like GOTY 10 times over.

I knew Capcom wouldn't screw this up. Anyone who refuses to buy it because Clover isn't making it will just be denying themselves.

Sooo can't wait for this game. I just wish there was a way to pay DS games on a big screen, though.

I spent 76 hours on the first game; I 100%-ed it and loved every minute. This is definitely one of my most awaited games, on any platform, this year (when is it out?) .

It comes out in 2010. In Japan....
If it doesn't come out in the West someone will die (namely Sven).

I would import it but the only problem is, it is likely text heavy, and part of the fun of Okami was the humour of Issun, so to import would be missing out on so much of what made it great.

Okami apparently sold comfortably to justify a sequel, so I don't see why this won't come out in the West. I'm just hoping they don't schedule this to coincide with Spirit Tracks, because Okamiden will lose, and I don't want Okamiden to do poorly, just so another game could be justified (as long as they had a strong enough story for a 3rd game to be justifiable).

They won't.
Spirit Tracks will be in stores by Christmas and Okamiden is only about 25% complete.

"It was the best Zelda game I've ever played"
fixed

Let's be real, it was basically a Zelda game. The sad thing is that it was better than any of the recent Zelda games and really gave innovation to a somewhat stale series, but because it didn't have the Zelda characters, it didn't sell and keep said series progressing. I wished the Zelda team had taken a lot closer look at what clover did. Maybe then I would have different feelings about twilight princess :/
