If you've been too frightened by the prospect of Alma's return (or too frightened by the prospect of dropping $50+ on her new game), know that this weekend's Steam deal is none other than F.E.A.R. 2 and the recently released Reborn DLC. If you fall into the former grouping, we suggest you draw the shades, turn off your computer for the weekend and even take the phone off the hook just to be safe.
However, if you're in the latter group, now's the time to pounce as Valve has slashed 50% off of the price of each, offering them at a reduced $24.99 and $4.99, respectively. You can't be in both groups though – if you spend the weekend hiding, you'll miss the deal which is available for "this weekend only."

It seemed to get pretty mixed reviews and I'm not sure how well it sold, but I really enjoyed FEAR2. There's lots of good scares in there to be had!

I was a huge fan of fear 1, and while I liked the stylized look of 2, and I thought the story tied in nicely, I felt that the gunplay was toned down. Unable to tilt, and the hand to hand combat seemed weakened. On top of that the weapons balance seemed really off. FEAR had great multiplayer but I thought 2's multi was a bit of a joke. All in all though I really enjoyed the single player campaign.

I enjoyed it too, but mostly for it's slow-mo shootouts. The whole scariness seemed kinda tacked-on this time around, like a tribute to the first one.

v Possible spoilers v
Personally I find the sort of "curious ghost" Alma of FEAR much scarier than the "crazy stalker fangirl" Alma of FEAR 2. Alma just wasn't as scary in her FEAR 2 grown-up zombie incarnation. The first FEAR still freaks me out with all the subtle "Alma's head poking out of a window and you just realize it then shes gone" scares, the second one it's like "you walk through a door and she jumps at you" and that's pretty much it.
The FEAR 2 demo had this really cool bit where you walked through a corridor, and if you turn around she's right behind you which made me jump bad. Same section in the full game didn't have anything as cool as that (except for the early hospital bits, those were pretty damn effective, I'll admit).
To be honest, I think they relied to much on tech and pretty effects for the "scares" in FEAR 2. They should go back to the simpler, more effective approach for FEAR 3.

All valid points, but I think it's definitely worth it at that price.

Picked it up for 360 over the weekend for like 12 bucks. Pretty awesome game so far. Multi is good too.

Game's not even worth pirating to be honest. Such a disappointment coming off of FEAR 1. I hope they just leave this tired series and make NOLF 3. Now that would be awesome.
