Watching the trailers for this a few hours ago, I suddenly feel compelled to go back and finish the first one (I reached hour 6, put it down, and never went back b/c of COD4. And then a couple months later, the ps3 died).

When I read about this game, I start forgetting the reviews/criticisms of AC1, and instead begin to remember how much fun I had with the first one despite its flaws. It had an awesome feeling of immersion, and I could run around doing somewhat boring missions to no end because it was just so much fun being Altair.

Same way that it was fun playing inFAMOUS. If Cole wasn't so fun to move around, the game wouldn't nearly have been as enjoyable.

You know what I liked was the Quick Time Stealth kills in Prince of Persia Two Thrones. Basically if you get to your opponent undetected you could initiate a stealth kill against however many enemies. It basically was a quick time event that resulted in an effecient kill if you succeeded or a long, drawn out battle if you failed.

Looking at another Ubisoft title, Splinter Cell Conviction looks good with its mark and execute system. I think stealth games should reward you for being stealthy. Those are just two examples of how it could be done.

I miss the stealth kills from Tenchu [insert #/name here], where if you managed to get between two targets, you could execute a double kill.

That was always a crowning achievement in those games for me... getting that perfect moonsault dropdown from the rooftops to land on one guys shoulders, twist the neck, and then spin around and kick the other guys head in...

Running/swimming/climbing around Renaissance Italy looks pretty amazing. I'm still really hoping Assassin's Creed III is set in Paris during the French Revolution. Historically, there is so much you can do with that. Then London around the same time would be pretty cool too-- being able to scale Big Ben. What do you guys think?

I'm hoping I get to play an early build at Gaming Invasion in Toronto next month - Ubisoft is the main reason I'm going.

Yeah, we have Gaming Invasion - its a free event hosted by Best Buy at Yonge-Dundas Square. It was on October 17-19 last year and I'm waiting for news on this year's event. Who knows, maybe Ms Raymond will be at the Ubisoft corner?

Sounds like it could be great and they fixed all the problems of the original. But I also heard the same about Fable 2...not sure if I want...

Now you're going to make me want to buy this game. With Uncharted 2 and Modern Warfare 2 I don't think I will have to the time to play them all.

They corrected everything that was wrong with the first game while keeping the uniqueness and Assassin feel...WHILE tossing in a hint of revenge to spice everything up....I love it. Oh and I'm glad they didn't change the fighting system. Its the only realistic fighting system in any sword based game. It gives the game that "Oh crap I'm surrounded" feeling which you'd probably feel if you were actually surrounded in real life. In all other sword fighting games you just press L1 X, Y, B, B and your character's sword turns orange and you start grunting and hacking at people and hey look at that! No one blocked my glowing sword and everyone dies. Yay I have self esteem issues and that made me feel powerful! Well you're not.
You can be aggressive and hack at a guys and hope for an opening if you'd like, but its more intelligent (ASSASSIN LIKE!!!!) to wait for that counter opportunity to arise. So congrats Patrice for not succumbing to the button mashing fighting system the idiot populous out there know and love.
