Gran Turismo 5 international release likely early 2010

Yamauchi then went on to list a befuddling list of features that should ship on the disc next year. GT Mode will return with all the features of classic GT games, like the garage, the car dealer, the tuning shop, and license tests. However, more exciting are the new features, such as a brand-new physics model that includes damage and deformation for all "normal" cars. Hybrid and electric cars are going to be added to the livery, too, with over 950 cars available on the disc. There will also be over 70 variations of over 20 locations to race through.
The online features have been expanded to include both text and voice chat, with support for lobbies and private rooms. There will be online photo albums and online replay albums as well; with the ability to export replays to YouTube. Gran Turismo TV, the video service introduced in Gran Turismo 5 Prologue will also be expanded with a brand new UI, progressive downloading (so you can watch the video content while it downloads), and the ability to export these videos to PSP. While this may seem like the kitchen sink of features, Yamauchi teased, "we have much more planned."
Considering it's been five years since the release of Gran Turismo 4 on PS2, fans of the franchise are expecting only the best, if not more.

I'll believe when I see it.
And I don't mean a solid release date, I mean the game, in my hands, with a receipt.
Solace @ Sep 28th 2009 11:06AM
and don't forget your pre-order bonus
Storm Eagle [Resident Capcom Megafan] @ Sep 28th 2009 11:12AM
Gotta go with GameStop's Bugati Veyron.
Even though (sorry again, Amazon) the Enzo always has a special place in my heart.

@rickjames
That was cold blooded.
rickjamess04 @ Sep 28th 2009 11:24AM
haha, yea I guess it was cold-blooded. In retrospect I should've misspelled a few words. I just read a few posts on engadget by a iphone troll and I really had hoped I could emulate their technique....
Storm Eagle [Resident Capcom Megafan] @ Sep 28th 2009 11:26AM
Trolls lack technique, amongst other things.
You should not aspire to be like them. You will become very hated, very quickly.
SoCoolCurt (PSN: KillaKornbread - XBL: SoCoolCurt) @ Sep 28th 2009 11:27AM
lol damn u rickjames. i was powering up my Sony Defense Mode and then you put that message at the bottom. either way, GT5 will be awesome if it ever comes out. still tryin to decide if i wanna pick up Forza 3 while i wait or not though. i played the demos but they dont really show if Forza has the garage and dealership and tune up stuff that i like so much in the GT series. maybe i'll just rent it to test it when it comes out.
GameWorks (www.PrizeLive.us) @ Sep 28th 2009 11:41AM
I agree 100% with you ;D
Jerk Face @ Sep 28th 2009 11:41AM
@ SoCoolCurt:
It does. For the record. Oh and the paint scheme customization puts GT to shame.
rickjamess04 @ Sep 28th 2009 11:53AM
Wow, I'm getting killed with the downvotes.
Kind of surprised I'm not getting any love with the bob loblows law blog.
rickjamess04 @ Sep 28th 2009 11:56AM
@storm eagle-
wasn't aspiring to be like them--was aspiring to mock them... I guess it didn't work
Duke @ Sep 28th 2009 12:35PM
Rick, they probably didn't read to the bottom and just voted as soon as they read you played it already.
Mez Jr @ Sep 28th 2009 3:32PM
@curt
If you liked GT you should give forza a roll, I know there have been many contenders to GT (anyone remember sega gt?) on the xbox but forza is pretty good. I prefer GT's progression system (licenses and race structure) to forza's but in terms of on the track and adjustments forza is right there. I actually thought F1 & F2 were overall better than GT4, I'm interested to see how these sort out.
SoCoolCurt (PSN: KillaKornbread - XBL: SoCoolCurt) @ Sep 28th 2009 7:19PM
cool. well i'll probably end up getting it then if it has all the stuff in it i like about GT. hell i might go buy Forza 2 actually.
MystileArmor @ Sep 28th 2009 11:06AM
I'm gonna say it before some fucktard starts yelling stupid shit; I'm glad we've both got GT and Forza, since that just pushes the envelope for both games and owners of each system will only end up with the best.
Both games look fucking amazing so no one should bitch about anything when it comes to both GT or Forza.
Chibi Chaingun - blackhivemedia.com @ Sep 28th 2009 11:16AM
I agree. Forza 3 is reeeeally nice (the demo), but I am looking forward to what GT5 brings to the table too. I really want that Logitech G25 or something or other (forget exactly which model) racing wheel that has the clutch and 6 speed shifter that only works with PS3 and PC, but that's a pricey meat-a-ball. Tried to find it used... Still a expensive mozza-ball. I got my wireless 360 wheel for $50 on craigslist, hehe!

AMEN!!!!! Forza comes out end of October. GT sometime in 2010 that should give you enough time to do what you have to do in forza until gt comes out(if you play nothing else) say what you will but the 2 complete each other in a weird way. Id love to fully customize my cars in games inside and out....so i have forza. but i love the way gt progresses
Orion @ Sep 28th 2009 11:11AM
Just like with countless other good games... I'll wait. Not patiently, but I'll wait.
Bradwart @ Sep 28th 2009 11:38AM
It's like Sonic X-Treme all over again, isn't it?
Orion @ Sep 28th 2009 11:43AM
Haha, except that never did come out. If Sonic Jam was a taste, I would have loved that game,

Nice that you cherry-pick a review, troll. Oh look, ODST sucked!
http://origin.avclub.com/articles/halo-3-odst,33364/
I don't even think they should have made GTPSP in the first place, it doesn't really serve the brand at all. A handheld is no place for a "real driving simulator" and to bring those expectations to a
el serpiente @ Sep 28th 2009 11:28AM
...less than 2GB handheld game is a bit silly.
copa @ Sep 28th 2009 11:37AM
I'm not sure what you're fighting with me about, el serpiente. We've both been around here a while, and we agree on both of your points. ODST is uninteresting, and GT5 PSP was a bad idea that is getting bad reviews.
sony boy (6 years til sony man child!) @ Sep 28th 2009 11:41AM
yea they over did it.
they could've taken 500 cars and 15~ tracks away and add online,career, and other stuff...
wasted potential makes me sad
Snowblind @ Sep 28th 2009 11:49AM
@el serpiente
That's a bit unfair. IGN is hardly some randomly picked blog, reviewing big games badly in an attempt to get more hits on their site.
On the other hand though, the game isn't exactly bad, they just left out modes in order to fit in more content. It's more of a Pokemon-esque utility tool for GT5, than a stand alone game. But that's disappointing, as the PSP is capable of a lot more.
el serpiente @ Sep 28th 2009 2:18PM
Snowblind, cherry picking does not mean random...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cherry_picking
And really Snowblind, if ODST gets a bad review it's because a website wants attention? And if GTPSP gets a bad review it's because they are honest hard-working journalists? I'm not saying GTPSP is the pigs tits, but I don't even think you know, yourself, how fanboy you are.
Anyways, my point Copa is why cherry pick a bad GTPSP review and highlight it in a thread on GT5? You wanted a reaction? You got it, nice work...
jake @ Sep 28th 2009 4:26PM
@el serpiente
I think the issue is you didn't give ANY evidence he was cherry picking (at least show some links to favorable reviews to the game from well known/respected reviewers). What you did was show an unfavorable review for another completely unrelated game from a relatively unknown reviewer.
The links below should give a better view of the overall ratings. From metacritic, it seems to have generally okay reviews, not amazing, but okay. It did get some less favorable reviews, but IGN seems to be the worst review from a major source, so that might prove he is cherry picking, even though in general IGN is a very respected reviewer. But looking closely, I do see even psp specific sources and other respected reviewers like Eurogramer say it is a flawed game, so the average ratings may not tell the whole story.

I like Forza, been playing it a lot recently, but Dirt 2 and NFS Shift (too easy) has been keeping me entertained racially.... (see what I did there?).
I can wait another 6 months for GT5. It'll be worth it. The true driving experience, not a game, an experience.
Lemmiwinks @ Sep 28th 2009 11:21AM
This title will be the reason I finally drop for a PS3. The system already has scores of great games, but no other franchise has kept a Sony controller in my hands for such a long period of time.
Big_Lozbowski @ Sep 28th 2009 11:23AM
Glad the tuning shop is making a return, I didn't like the tuning system in GT5 prologue as much as with previous games.
I have one question/request... does anyone know if you will be able to export your GT5 Prologue garage over? I have a lot of nice cars and it would be a nice reward for people who brought the game, knowing it wasn't the 'full' game
Dark Emerald @ Sep 28th 2009 11:24AM
I just hope that they fix the online issues, because right now, online in GT5:P is horrible.
Hakaisou @ Sep 28th 2009 11:26AM
Can someone define "all normal cars" for me?
Like what, are concept cars not subject to damage modeling? Classic Cars not subject? I guess I could make the exception for the model T, but what about say the Nike One? Or my favorite car, a '67 Shelby Cobra. It's a bit ambiguous a classification IMO.

That "stuff about stuff and some other stuff" was simply beautiful. Better than I thought it would be. A lot better.

Deep down I was wishing this was some cruel joke. Like Sony would eventually say spring 2010 for Japan but "Haha fooled you Winter 2009 everywhere else".
Anyway it gives me more time to enjoy other games during the Holidays. (including Forza even though I'm starting to dislike Turn 10)
