Halo 3: ODST drops into UK's top sales spot

Professor Layton and Pandora's Box (the Diabolical Box in the States) premiered at the number two spot last week, with prior week's top performer, Need for Speed: Shift, tapping the brakes down to third.

I couldnt help but feel that Vice City deserves the San Andreas spot.. but then I realize that I loved the music much more than the game in Vice City.

I think pretty much everyone I know with a 360 is getting this game, overpriced or not. Still, I think I'll spend my dwindling cash on Uncharted and Assassin's Creed 2, even if Firefight is damn good fun.

I'm solely a PS3 owner but ODST is a good game, as are the other halo games, they may be over-hyped, lack tactical depth and are very repetitive with each iteration, but the coop experience is excellent.
I have to say though that the whole 'your so much weaker in this one and you need to be tactical' thing is greatly exaggerated, your basic weapons have some serious fire power and your health is still much more plentiful than in most shooters.
Basically what I'm saying is stop hating on halo, but stop bigging it up too much, as I find it is very little fun when played solo.

Because it's a UK chart results story and the UK charts, suprisingly I know, contain games for the Sony PS3.
As has been pointed out before (requires actual reading of previous comments), the fault is that it wasn't also tagged for Nintendo.

Wow, I decided to look up some stuff on Killzone 2 just to see why you were so defensive of it and now I can see why. Killzone 2 took over 4 years to develop, while ODST took around 14 months. Killzone 2 hasn't even sold 2 million since February while ODST has sold 2 million since last week. That's pretty embarassing that a game that took 14 months from start to finish is getting excellent scores and better sales than your precious Killzone 2. Keep defending it though and go buy some more copies of it!

God of Wars been around 4 years less and has the same amount of releases. The game lasts as long as Halo 3 did. They also did do midnight releases, that's how it's already sold about as much as God of War 2.

if you RUN thru the game.. yeah, it is about 5 hours or so. But if you play the game it is longer.. over 6 hours it took me on Normal difficulty playing at a steady pace but actually reading, listening, and watching all the storyline stuff.. ODST has the best story of any of the Halo games.. which I know doesn't say much to some but it actually has a story to tell.. IF you take the time to follow it.

The campaign lasted me about 8 hours. Which is about how long Halo 3, Half-life 2 and Killzone 2 lasted me as well, so what's the problem with ODST? I'll easily get another run through or two out of the campaign, and firefight and multilpayer will last me for a very long time. Seems like good value for me.
And yes, the God of War comparasion is very fitting. I'm very tired of hearing "Halo is being milked" comments, but seeing the same people jump for joy when another Metal Gear Solid, Call of Duty or God of War game is announced.
You can't have double standards, either enjoy sequels, or don't.

That's exactly why you can use it as an argument. You can't claim that Halo is being milked when God of War has a crappy mobile phone game and a re-release of 2 games that don't need it. If you take out both of the series spin off games and rereleases then you have 3 main Halo games in 6 years and 3 main God of War games in 5 years.

Actually CTC, the subject wasn't about how many games there are, but about how the games are being "milked". So in a way you could count the books...
