Bungie quickly responded to a 60-page-long thread on the Halo 3: ODST forums where users complained the title had experienced disc read errors while playing in the game's Campaign and Firefight modes. Now, Microsoft has also sounded off on the errors, telling Eurogamer, "we are aware of a very small number of people who are reporting they can't play the game," and later adding "at this point it doesn't appear to be a widespread issue."
In our last post regarding the game-crashing errors, we asked readers if they had encountered similar problems during their time with ODST. Out of the 5,608 participants who responded at the time this article was written, 1,769 (or 31.5 percent) had reported technical issues with the game. We're sure Microsoft has their own method of tracking this data, but our polling figures certainly make the problems seem as though they've spread fairly wide.

worse if you're looking for "ammunition against microsoft", but i really don't care about that. i just think this issue itself is being blown way out of proportion, unsurprisingly so

Yeah right and they said red ring of death wasn't a widespread issue. I think at this point we all know they are full of shit. Its a decently widespread problem as the web is quite filled with people complaining about it.

WTF how did RROD related this topic.
So what? RROD not that big of a deal. since the console is only $200. cheaper then buying fresh set of tires for my jeep

Never had such problems, neither have any of my friends AFAIK. Either we're the lucky 67% or some people have been clicking the wrong radio buttons on polls.

I know its really the only way that joystiq can poll but these internet voluntary polls shouldn't be used for a definite answer to the amount of 360's with issues, its just selection bias.
That being said, I've had no issue with notification/achievement lag or any other issues besides long loading times but that's simply because I haven't installed to HDD yet.

I just got my copy in the mail, from Amazon... I just hope mine doesn't have any issues. I almost played it last night, but I wanted to finish Batman and I did. What an awesome game.

The reason why your poll got skewed that way is because Sony fanboys probably voted in it...

Was getting disc read errors at the start of the game where you find the helmet stuck in the TV. Took it back to the place I got it, got a replacement. Happened at the EXACT SAME SPOT WITH THE NEW DISC.
Not widespread? BS
