While I burned out on L4D quite a few months ago, I'm definitely firing up Steam again for this new (and likely final) addition to the L4D scenario lineup. Kind of cool that they're having it tie in between two of the existing ones as well, although the game was never about story so much.

Another title I'm looking forward to on the PC is the release of Risen on Friday. I've always really enjoyed Piranha Byte's Gothic franchise, even though the third one really tested my faith with a horrifically unoptimized and untested retail release, issues which the patching process failed to rectify to an acceptable state. Risen appears to be a sort of re-imagining of Gothic, so I'm hoping for a solid RPG experience.

Failing that, I'm prepared for crushing disappointment.

Definately getting my son the PSP Go and putting it up for Christmas. He's just missing the PSP as the last piece of the systems pie (spoiled brat). Most people talk shit about the Go but I like it. Yeah it wouldn't make sense for someone to "upgrade" but a new PSP owner might find downloadable games advantages. I know I'm going to appreciate not having to buy any new games to have to store with the existing games collections.

My only question is what are they going to do about instruction booklets (do they still exist)

Interested to see how Dead Space Extraction catches on, but hey, September's almost over, and soon enough we'll have the October NPD to pore over.

Also this week features the Wii price drop (technically was yesterday), but still some good stuff

I noticed Excitebots went up 95,000% yesterday on Amazon, least...that's what it was when I went to bed. Almost bought it myself but I figure I'm just gonna buy Mario Kart anyway so I'll get the wheel there.

Dead Space is a rail shooter priced at the top-end of the Wii scale without the name recognition of a House of the Dead, so I'm not too sure whether it will move a tremendous amount of units during its first week or so. As the weeks roll along the game will probably sustain a relatively low level of sales, eventually building up into something that could be deemed a success.

Hopefully the game is successful as new players in the rail shooter genre are always welcome, even if it is EA.

How is the Crash Course DLC $7 on 360, but free on PC? I can't justify the purchase knowing it's out there for free on another system.

I got my points ready for L4D! I might buy Beaterator for my cousin's bday.

I've also got Silent Hill: Origins, Castlevainia: Order of Ecclasia, and M&L3 sitting right here, but I prob won't be able to get to it with Scibblenauts and Layton 2 still here unbeaten.

Scribblenauts is still very fun, btw. You haters just keep on hatin.

Because microsoft charges companies for hosting DLC, they had to make it cost something. It's the same with almost every cross-platform game. COD4 map packs are all free on PC and paid on the 360.

Isn't that why people pay for an annual Live subscription? I remember the fanboys saying that MS had it right because they charged consumers not developers like Sony for bandwidth. At the time I said that MS actually charged both ... no one would listen. Heh.

Live is for the online multiplayer, not the content. The fact is we had some free DLC and then they tried charging for it and people bought it, and continue to buy payed DLC in addition to live no matter how much of a rip off it is, so they're gonna keep doing it.

I am shocked that DSG was upstaged by the PSP Go. I was expecting some a joke or a funny photoshop in honor of her official release.

Finally the Wii gets a good new horror title. Cursed Mountain was okay, but not quite up to par.

i hate the turning in Cursed Mountain! everytime a ghost approached me at full speed i would TRY to turn around to run from so that there would be a good distance from me and the ghost but EVERYTIME i tried to turn it would just keep turning in circles for quite a bit (not more then 5 seconds though) and the ghost would hit me. having this contently happen as well as getting jumped by two or three of them really turned me off and i decided to sell the game (at Gamestop). lucky for me i got about 20$ for it and used that to purchase Muramasa the demon blade which didn't disappoint me at all.

I hope Dead Space Extraction turns out to be good. It'd be nice to see another good example of third-party developers knowing how to make good Wii games.

We've been through that bullshit argument before. Until EA and 2K Sports incorporates HBCU's into the real college games, this is acceptable.

BTW, you want White Entertainment TV? Watch every major network between 8 and 10 every week day...

Anyone know what the deal is with Dead Space Extraction? Best Buy had been showing it in-stock for over a month, and I was even told by an employee that they had them in back, but couldn't sell them yet. Then today I check their inventory online and both Best Buy and Gamestop don't have them. Seems odd...conspiracy perhaps? Dead Space Girl?
