Due to the obvious differences between the respective turntable peripherals for DJ Hero and Scratch: The Ultimate DJ, this may not come as much of a shock to you: In a recent interview with Destructoid, FreeStyleGames' Jaime Jackson shot down the idea of Hero's peripheral being compatible with other DJ titles. "If someone needed to use our controller, then they would basically have to rip our game off," Jackson noted.
In other words, if you're looking to tap into all the DJ-centric rhythm offerings available in the future, you're going to be adding a few more feet to that ever-growing mound of fake instruments in your den. At least there will be a bit of variation towards the peak, eh?

The turntable that comes with scratch is developed by numark and
is supposedly compatable with mp3's and computers allowing you
to mix your own music ...... By far superior

So paying $13 for a used copy of beatmania for PS2 + controller wasn't worth it? Aw damn!

A POS rhythm game...
Or an action-adventure game...that rivals films of the same genre...
Fuck it, I'd rather buy a DJ Max Technika machine.

I thought that at least Let's Tap 2: Let's Spin would utilize this.

Gives me even more of a reason to not care about this game at all. Not that it CAN be used for anything else, really.

You mean you can't use this for DJ Hero 2, coming out 6 months after DJ Hero?

See here's the thing, if you look at the two controllers side by side the Numark controller actually looks and behaves like an actual turn table and sample deck. I know vinyl is a thing of the past for many non-musicphiles but the fact is records do not have buttons on them. Most DJs will have a sample deck that they can que the samples by hitting the buttons.
So, at the end of the day, a more realistic play experience would probably come from Scratch. Now, with that being said, is it a better gameplay experience? Are they going to be able to get the same quality of titles and DJs? That's a question that I can't answer and will only come out when the game is held up side by side. Frankly I don't want to support activision. I've purposefuly either rented or bought used copies of their product for some time now but if this is good I'll have to buy it from them. I think I'm just going to wait until the side by side comparisons come out and then see where I go from there.

Didn't know that but not suprising. See the difference is this, Numark actually makes audio hardware. Activision makes plastic toys that are used with video games. Who is going to make the better piece of hardware? Tough call. No wonder Activision tried to steal their designs.
