Lord of the Rings Online: Siege of Mirkwood going live December 1
Have your frequent visits to the Mines of Moria and Mount Doom filled you with an inexorable case of the doldrums? Looking to get away to a hot vacation destination? The lush, arboreal lands of Mirkwood are ... well, they're pretty terrible. They're infested with monsters and unfriendly wildlife, and completely lacking in tropical luxuries. Still, they'll inject some fresh blood into the veins of Lord of the Rings Online when the appropriately-titled expansion, Siege of Mirkwood, goes live December 1.
The expansion will be offered as a download through online distributors for $19.99 -- though current LOTRO players who upgrade their subscriptions to a multi-month plan before October 31 will get the Mirkwood expansion for free. For more info on the expansion (as well as few special offers which will accompany its release), check out Turbine's recent press release announcement.

I want this game for console. Or at least a decent MMO...
Other news, When's FF14 coming out aprox?
Special Agent Steve @ Sep 29th 2009 9:00PM
It's out. In your pants.
Let's party.

I unsubscribed after getting most of the Moria-raid gear. Wake me up when I can go to Gondor.
Wes @ Sep 30th 2009 12:06AM
Same. I went through the basic instances and got my core four prices of rad gear, got one of the 1.5 peices, got my shoulders from watcher, then helm from watcher, did dn about 10? or more times and got rather bored.
I unsubscribed because I'd finished the books, got the full dn rad set and then what? I mean, my loth reputation was maxed and I had the gear to fill wristband from loth, rings were sublime rings of tacitcs and there aren't that many other gear slots. Had a first age weapon/spellbook that were pretty good.

I have a friend who'll jizz in his pants when I send him a link OR he already has jizzed in his pants (to this news) and will be cleaning up when I send him a link. Either way he wins.
Mr Mobius - the wandering artist @ Sep 29th 2009 8:03PM
Sounds like everybody wins either way.
Marco le Polo @ Sep 29th 2009 8:18PM
'Cept for whoever owns the computer he's when he finds out.
Jrinswand @ Sep 29th 2009 8:35PM
Seems like there sure has been a lot of talk about boners and jizz in the Joystiq comments lately. If there's some sort of boner-jizzing epidemic going down, I don't want to be a part of it... or do I?
Wes @ Sep 30th 2009 12:04AM
Its a joke based of an SNL skit called 'Jizzed in my pants'. You can find the video on youtube, hulu, etc. Stars Andy something from SNL and Justin Timberlake. The song itself has some humerous moments and the music is actually kind of catchy. Its probably worth anyone's time to view at least once, possibly many more.

How much is the monthly subscription? I know I shouldn't start back on the MMO road, but it is Lord of the Rings, so I'll maybe finally get around to MMOing again after a 4 year hiatus.
hobocop @ Sep 29th 2009 8:07PM
I think it's $15/month with small discounts for multi-month subs. Last Christmas they had a $30/ 3 months deal that lasted as long as you kept the subscription going--maybe they will do it again this year.
Jrinswand @ Sep 29th 2009 8:37PM
LOTRO is one of the best MMOs of the past several years even aside from the fact that it's based on Lord of the Rings.
RogueJedi86 @ Sep 29th 2009 9:50PM
If you've got money to spare, they're reinstituting the cheapened version of the Lifetime subscription. Only $199 for a lifetime subscription. Very good deal if you plan to play for any length of time. It's nice knowing you can log in any time, even 5 or 10 years from now and not have to worry about paying that monthly fee.
Riley @ Sep 30th 2009 3:50AM
I think there's a $10 a month deal right now, probably another one you keep as long as you keep paying

I have a lifetime membership, so this is a no-brainer for me. Free added content :-)
If you like soloing in your MMOs, there is no better game out there. It is a lot of fun for grouping, no questions. But LOTRO is the best soloing MMO I've played...and I generally like to play solo because I have sporadic hours that I can be online.
hobocop @ Sep 30th 2009 12:50AM
lifetime memberships dont get this expansion for free

Kinda hard to besiege all of Mirkwood. Pretty big.
Unless they mean Dol Guldur, or something like that.
BoomWav @ Sep 29th 2009 11:21PM
It's basically the southern part of the forest up to Dol Guldur. Well... it's another pretty big landmass with more than 100 new quest and tons of new content like skirmishes that are essentially instances that are not restricted to a group size or to a certain level and that contain some random elements. They can also be joined from anywhere in the world. Pretty interesting stuff.
PLD_Exander_FFXI:Online @ Sep 30th 2009 1:33AM
Wow.. im amazed people still play that along with Warhammer Online..
hobocop @ Sep 30th 2009 1:41AM
says the person with ffxi in his name...
PLD_Exander_FFXI:Online @ Sep 30th 2009 9:44AM

FFXI poplulation has risen in the past few months surprisingly.. O,o;
