Be still, beating, midichlorian-infused heart -- LucasArts is looking for players to test its story-driven MMO, Star Wars: The Old Republic. The official call to action deftly avoids the use of the B-word and stipulates that the testing will be executed on an extremely limited scale. If you're hoping to get in on the massively-multiplayer lightsaber action, you can sign up on the Account page of the game site.
Actually, we really want to get into this test, so ... how about you sit this one out? C'mon, wouldn't you rather watch some YouTube videos of adorable puppies instead? Look at them! With their little waggly tails.

Yeah, they took the site down hours ago. We don't even know if they'll put the application back up.

We arrive at the site only to find a meteor shower. In the distance I spot a faraway moon.

Yeah, the amount of people jumping on expecting to get in is a bit ridiculous. It's not like they're just going to take the first few people who manage to sign up.
I like the fact they're doing something for those of us who regularly post on the forums.

It's not like the stipulations of getting into the testing were posted within Joystiq's post. We're interested in the game immensily and we want to play just as much as you do. If you have to be an avid poster on the forums, so be it. But don't act like because you post on a forum more than I do, you're better than me.

"Thank you for visiting www.StarWarsTheOldRepublic.com. We are making adjustments to the site due to the overwhelming response to the testing announcement. Please be patient and check back later. We estimate that the site will be back up in the next few hours."
Fuck all of you, I want this so badly.

As much as I would love to test this out, I doubt by now that I could ever make it in, nor would I be able to get off the PC playing it. I loved KotOR so much. Still hoping for an Xbox port of some kind.

This IS a sign of things to come. If they can't even anticipate the load on a web server for beta testing sign-ups, it's going to be one of *those* MMO launches. Hey we're ready for beta test sign-ups. Oh, I guess we aren't. And the night they have record-setting sales for a new MMO: Hey we're ready for everyone to play our game. Oh, I guess we aren't. :)

Got through and completed sign up, but it didn't create my account. Still busted.

So I tried signing up. First thing you do is you create an account. So I go through the account process, and it asks if you want to sign up for the beta. I clicked yes, and I go through and put in my personal information for the beta and click continue. Well that sends you right back to the Account Creation. You go through account creation again, and it takes you to personal information. Then round and round and round. I don't know what's going on with them, but they can't seem to be getting this right.

If you create an account and then when it asks you if you want to participate in the testing, say you will do it later.
Then you account will be active and you can go back and update the testing information.
Sadly, the testing page still is not working :(
