Rockstar: L.A. Noire development going 'splendidly,' details 'very soon'

Long in development, never seen in any sort of playable form and without any confirmed platforms, Rockstar's L.A. Noire seems more like so much smoke from a private eye's ashtray with each passing month. But there was a glimmer of life in the project earlier this month when Take-Two president Ben Feder mentioned it during an investors' call, and now Rockstar has addressed the status of the game and when we might actually learn more about it.
In a Q&A post on its website, Rockstar answered a fan-submitted question -- "Is there anything you can say about L.A. Noire, like when it's coming out?" -- saying, "While we have yet to announce a definitive release date, L.A. Noire is coming along quite splendidly." While Feder had "nothing to announce" back on September 1, Rockstar now promises, "We're going to have details to share with you all very soon." Hopefully they'll be more than "it's a game" and "it will come out ... someday."

Feels like this is turning into another Alan Wake, sounds fantastic, but development time just draaaaging. Bummer for the folks that've been really anticipating these. Hopefully it'll turn out the best for both titles.

was i the only one really underwhelmed by the E3 footage for Alan Wake?
Markez @ Sep 29th 2009 9:13PM
Count me in. Graphics look a little dated as did the gameplay, but I'm still hoping a Twin Peaks type game world pans out. Cautiously optimistic here. But we should all be over the top optimistic really, it has John Stamos!

Well considering the time it took for that footage to finally arrive I'm confident in saying even the biggest of fans were disappointed at the thin dish.

It was the first time I saw the game. I thought it looked cool

Jeez I completely forgot about this game. I guess even the good ones can get lost (looks at Alan Wake and clicks tongue). Any word on whether it's still exclusive?
johnnynumber5 @ Sep 29th 2009 10:08PM
Oh man not again. It was never confirmed to be exclusive as platforms were never announced. That Rockstar game announced as a PS3 exclusive at E3 (The Agency or something) is the game Sony got in exchange for letting Take2 out of their GTA IV exclusivity deal.
eNrique @ Sep 29th 2009 10:38PM
It's Agent, the Agency is a mmo.

well this is good news for me! I've been eagerly anticipating this game, after the cg trailer. a good crime thriller game set in an awesome time sounds great to me

i agree, the more i thought about it, i realized there are very very few if any modern (i mean consoles not the setting) police games, i think the closest i've ever gotten was in Matt Hazzard with the opening level
Reuben @ Sep 29th 2009 10:44PM
I think the closest I've ever come to something in that genre was Hotel Dusk. Color me excited.

I mean one look at the trailer and you know this is gonna be amazing. don't pay attention to the message at the beginning, he obviously has this game confused with the ps3 exclusive agent. and is totally wrong
johnnynumber5 @ Sep 29th 2009 10:13PM
He had the alleged information correct but it was all rubbish because all of that stuff was unsubstantiated rumor. We know for sure that LA Noire was never announced as a PS3 exclusive ... platforms were never even announced. That information was from the rumor monger "Surfer Girl" who fell off the map after that "prediction."
johnnynumber5 @ Sep 29th 2009 10:09PM
This game has a very cool concept. It's like Black Dahlia the game which was a fantastic movie.
j.howlett @ Sep 29th 2009 10:28PM
a game that'll come out someday? preoreded!! i wonder if i can get the collector edition?
PSN: John-Paul-Jones @ Sep 29th 2009 10:56PM
Is this a multi-platform game now?
jahd5000 @ Sep 29th 2009 11:41PM
ok, now what about Agent?
Thats what i actually care about. I mean, come on, at least define a genre for that game! XD
johnnynumber5 @ Sep 30th 2009 12:18AM
I have a feeling that one is still in the early development stage. I'm sure they have a concept and stuff defined but I seriously doubt it's been in development longer than a year.
jahd5000 @ Sep 30th 2009 12:25AM
yeah well so do I.... i guess SOny rushed to announce it (in that simplystic way) just so they could make E3 the big impact they wanted to.
But man, i made me curious!
arkweld @ Sep 30th 2009 1:04AM
give me a game as a private dick in the 1940's and I'm in.

Discotheque @ Sep 30th 2009 3:02PM
