Warhammer Online coming to Mac on Oct. 10, beta playable now

EA Mythic has chosen the Apple as a healthy alternative to the crazy Warhammer Online cake we told you about last month. By which we mean the developer's fantasy MMO is coming to the Mac -- on October 10, to be exact. That's when the game -- which uses TransGaming's Cider technology to run on OS X -- officially hits, but anyone who has an existing WAR account (or wants to sign up for a 10-day "beta trial") can download the Mac beta client and start playing right now.
Mac players will be given two special titles and an exclusive in-game trophy (an apple with the WAR logo -- how totally unexpected!) when the game leaves beta.

People still play Warhammer Online? I thought it died.

It did, there's just a few lingering people who haven't figured it out yet. Bad news, some of them are the developers.

>This game will not run on the Intel GMA 950 or X3100 class of integrated video cards.
The majority of MacBook owners just got told.

We're used to it by now. The only MMO I can get to work is WoW, and I'm sure that's one of the many reasons it is so popular.

Oh snap!

Cider does not count, go native or go home.

I tried this game out, actually. I couldn't shake the feeling of being completely lost all the time compared to wow, I had no idea what the heck was going on. Oh well, I guess it killed my WOW addiction, so that's good. Or maybe it's because I turned 21 a week after it came out?

God this is taking forever to download. W.O.W took a good day though. An apple for a reward? Boo.

So if all 8 Mac gamers buy it, does it turn a profit?

Is this cross-platform play? Can I play PC users? I wouldn't mind a new MMO other than WoW.... I'm over it :P

Oh sweet. I'll give it a download when I get home tonight.

This is great for MAC users especially since the gaming library is so slim and WAR is a pretty sweet game. Kudos for MAC.
