David Bowie, Styx, Yellowcard & others join Band Hero

We'd like to congratulate Devo, David Bowie and Marvin Gaye for reaching one of the highest highs in the music industry. That would be appearing in a game with no fewer than three Taylor Swift songs: Band Hero. The artists' featured hits are part of the latest batch of announced tracks -- all of which you can find after the break -- for the tweenybopper spin-off.

Also, do we have any volunteers to dive into the belly of Band Hero and rescue the totally awesome "In a Big Country" Saving Private Ryan–style? It ... it doesn't deserve this.

It's funny that this called "Band Hero", when most of these "bands" are manufactured crap pumped out from record companies to make money. You'll find real "bands" in Rock Band and Guitar Hero.

Honestly Smash Hits could have been their family-friendly game. My mom wanted to play Killer Queen and Nothing but a Good Time with me, and she hates video games!

But then again, who likes to play music games with family lol? I only play by myself on my Wii or at my friends house on his PS3.

I wish more bowie would hit Rock Band already.

There are only three songs right? And aren't two of them covers? They definitely need more Bowie.

Now I'm trying to figure out whether or not I should pay the full price for this game just for Yellowcard. I've been praying for them to come to Rock Band for so long now.

If you add up all the versions of Guitar Hero, counting console releases of the same game as a separate SKU, and Mac & PC versions, and mobile versions and the arcade game, and then the Band Hero SKUs, you actually get 52 (not counting DJ Hero SKUs).

I'm mad because The Impression That I Get by the Mighty MIghty Bosstones is a fantastic ska song, and I was expecting it to be in Rock Band first because a fucking tMMB member works for Harmonix, a Mr. Ben Carr.

See, this is the problem with Guitar Hero/Band Hero. If you took the recognizeable hits from GH5 and combined them with the recognizeable songs from Band Hero....you'd have an AMAZING setlist and still have a truckload of songs that would make suitable DLC releases.

Instead its split between two discs and I want neither of them.

I agree, but I ended up getting GH5 (just because I like to play music games online and it is one of the best online music games)

So when will Harmonix-EA/Activision finally pick up the rights to U2? I'm sure they've been trying to.

Whenever it happense I'll have to buy one of their games.

this game has an interesting set list. i can't wait for it... however, this seriously could've been packed in a DLC pack. but i guess it's a different market so they'll try to maximize their profits.

I'll agree, it makes me sad it's not Lights and Sounds, though it was
originally Breathing from the Burnout 3: Takedown soundtrack that got
me to like them though. Seeing that it's neither, I'm not too content.

I thought this list is great. I love guitar heroes and rockband, but I only know a quarter of the songs. Do I have to be 30+ in order to enjoy a guitar hero game?? I hope not.

At the same time, I may skip those Hilary duff ones...................

Ugh... what is ultimately boils down to is 3 Taylor Swift songs for $60...

The only thing helping GH anymore is the few exclusives they have left. It wont be long before those decide to move over to RB. HMX will do their music justice and not implement a lousy claymation version of the artists.

I honestly haven't played RB:TB ... I dont really like the music enough to warrant game play. However, RB2 and videos of RB:TB have PROVEN that graphically RB is light years ahead of GH. Experience has shown that the game play is better on RB, the music selection is better on RB, the peripherals are better on RB, hell the whole fucking experience is better on RB.

At this point, anyone wasting their time on GH should also be playing on archaic systems like the NES and lying to themselves that somehow 8bit it is better than our next gen consoles.

For better or worse, this list looks like it'd be the one for Elite Beat Agents 2 or something.

I'm more interested in how in that screenshot how the female character got the hat to pul down all the way to her ear. In world tour the base ball cap rest about 3 inches above my ears. It looks retarted. Anyway to adjust it? All of the hair in the game looks nothing like my normal hair cut but I always do wear a baseball cap and for some reason this is a big deal to me.

Accept for Hillery Duf (which scientifically isn't music, just an audio file that pretends to be music) this isn't a bad set list. I really like the queen and even the maroon 5 kinda sorta not really but still.

Big-shot music stars don't care about which game is good or not. They don't care that Activision and the Guitar Hero brand is destroying innovation by churning out sequel after sequel. All they care about is whoever is throwing more money at them, and unfortunately Activision has buckets more than Harmonix.

The only way I would buy this game is if there is an in game avatar of Kanye West that interrupts Taylor Swift every time she is about to perform. Oh the lulz I would get with that.

Its like Guitar Hero without the good music!

TBQH, this game has more on-disc songs that I'm excited to play than any previous RB/GH game.

Is the new band hero game compatible with the instruments for guitar hero world tour or do you have to buy all new instruments?
