David Bowie, Styx, Yellowcard & others join Band Hero
We'd like to congratulate Devo, David Bowie and Marvin Gaye for reaching one of the highest highs in the music industry. That would be appearing in a game with no fewer than three Taylor Swift songs: Band Hero. The artists' featured hits are part of the latest batch of announced tracks -- all of which you can find after the break -- for the tweenybopper spin-off.
Also, do we have any volunteers to dive into the belly of Band Hero and rescue the totally awesome "In a Big Country" Saving Private Ryan–style? It ... it doesn't deserve this.

Mr. Roboto?
LOL. I don't know rather to exclaim WIN or FAIL....
mywhitenoise @ Oct 1st 2009 11:10AM
Did you look at the rest of the tracklist?
I'd say "fail".
dark_inchworm (stronger than never, ever before) @ Oct 1st 2009 11:17AM
I actually see about 15 songs I'd enjoy playing, though most of them are guilty pleasures. Unfortunately, the rest of the list is so unbearable that I can't convince myself to buy this at all.
Nuke @ Oct 1st 2009 2:02PM
Mr. Roboto was the end of Styx. I would have loved Renegade. Or even Come Sail Away... but only if it included Eric Cartman as a guest singer.
Matisyahu Serious @ Oct 1st 2009 3:20PM
WAIL!
Tiptup300 @ Oct 1st 2009 3:21PM
Village People - "YMCA"
HAHAHAHAHA
VaultBoy @ Oct 2nd 2009 5:54PM
A few minor WINs in a sea of FAIL. Some songs i might not change the station if they came on but NOTHING i would clamour to play. Whatever keeps this crap off of the main stage of crap the GH franchise is carrying. It can't get much worse there I'm afraid (and I support that franchise too). DJ Hero anyone? Didn't think so.
supakoopa @ Oct 1st 2009 10:53AM
Hilary Duff - "So Yesterday"
Uhhh... What?
Tom Kalinske, CEO. @ Oct 1st 2009 11:03AM
An accurate description of Hillary Duff's career.

HA! ^
cuteSAVAGE @ Oct 1st 2009 10:53AM
Is it the real Styx? The Styx tracks in Rock Band were re-records without DeYoung, and being able to sing as DeYoung on Mr. Roboto is enough to make me interested in this game. KT Tunstall is a total guilty pleasure too!
cuteSAVAGE @ Oct 1st 2009 11:05AM
Awww, KT is only in the handheld game... :(
uncle jesse @ Oct 1st 2009 10:54AM
- Happy birthday, Jimmy!
- Whoa, Band Hero! Awesome! Taylor Swift, All American Rejects, Maroon 5, Hillary Duff and....uh...Devo? David Bowie? Marvin Gaye?
Who they hell are they? That's old fogey music! I hate you dad!
Temidien @ Oct 1st 2009 11:08AM
I don't know a single kid that says "old fogey".
Peter Moore - peterfuckingmoore.blogspot.com @ Oct 1st 2009 11:13AM
If my children ever exclaimed that Devo was "old fogey music", I'd put them up for adoption.
Tom Kalinske, CEO. @ Oct 1st 2009 11:15AM
I was about to suggest the same thing. David Bowie is classic, and it is a heresy to suggest otherwise.
Ratfoot @ Oct 1st 2009 11:19AM
Eff off dad!
uncle jesse @ Oct 1st 2009 11:20AM
I'll still never forget when Avril Lavigne said "David Bow-ee". It was embarrassing, to say the least. If the point of this game it to appeal to tweens, then why even bother putting in classics like Bowie and Devo. They will most definitely not be appreciated and be passed over for a replay of Ocean Avenue. Right on.
uncle jesse @ Oct 1st 2009 11:24AM
I hate kids. Classics here!
MrSpaceCowboy @ Oct 1st 2009 11:30AM
Forget putting them up for adoption Mr Moore, just beat them!
That'll learn em!
uncle jesse @ Oct 1st 2009 11:54AM
I'm not calling it "fogey music". it was a joke. And I know kids don't say fogey anymore i was...ah forget it. I can't get mad at the internet.
Tom Kalinske, CEO. @ Oct 1st 2009 11:02AM
I'm Killroy!
cuteSAVAGE @ Oct 1st 2009 11:04AM
Have you come to help us with our problems so we can be free?
Tom Kalinske, CEO. @ Oct 1st 2009 11:05AM
No. But don't be surprised if you see me acting strangely.
Eric @ Oct 1st 2009 11:05AM
Why even make this game? It's no different then Guitar Hero? What because they call it Band Hero it's a different thing now.
Tom Kalinske, CEO. @ Oct 1st 2009 11:06AM
Apparently, it's supposed to be more 'family friendly'. Ask the 'mighty' Kotick. I'm sure he'll be here shortly, followed by Peter Moore...
uncle jesse @ Oct 1st 2009 11:07AM
I don't really understand it either. I think it's just a way of getting another Guitar Hero game out there without calling it that and trying to sell it as something different "for the kids" even though it's essentially the exact same thing.
Peter Moore - peterfuckingmoore.blogspot.com @ Oct 1st 2009 11:24AM
Nope, I got here first Tom.
You can't predict me, I'm a rebel.
Tom Kalinske, CEO. @ Oct 1st 2009 11:27AM
Hmm. Kotick must be slipping-normally he'd be here screaming for us to preorder ActiCrap.
Nice to see you, Peter. Why no blog updates?
Peter Moore - peterfuckingmoore.blogspot.com @ Oct 1st 2009 11:28AM
Glad you asked, working on one right now about the PS Store thing.
Tom Kalinske, CEO. @ Oct 1st 2009 11:45AM
Nice, Peter. You shouldn't be surprised at the people who buy a new version every year. They've been doing it since the Genesis era, after all. I guess we could blame Trip for that.
PSN: John-Paul-Jones @ Oct 1st 2009 12:35PM
Is this really THE Tom Kalinske of SEGA during its glorious years?
Peter Moore - peterfuckingmoore.blogspot.com @ Oct 1st 2009 1:51PM
Of course it is. What type of anti-social, brain-damaged loser would go around impersonating gaming figureheads?
Tom Kalinske, CEO. @ Oct 1st 2009 2:28PM
Yes, it's really me. I don't have to run Leap Frog anymore, so I have more time on my hands.
And, Peter, I don't know who would do that. They'd have to be incredibly selfish and insane.
Bobby Kotick @ Oct 1st 2009 8:09PM
My apoligies for missing the update today. My boyfriend was in town.
Maybe you people can resist Band Hero, but I know what you can't resist; a Modern Warfare sequel!
Go pre-order Modern Warfare 2.
copa @ Oct 1st 2009 11:05AM
Yes, the game has three Taylor Swift songs. No, we do not need three hundred "I'm a let you finish..." jokes in this thread. We get it.
evenkots @ Oct 1st 2009 11:12AM
Funny, considering you are the only person that has brought it up so far.
dark_inchworm (stronger than never, ever before) @ Oct 1st 2009 11:12AM
You're not letting them finish?
MrSpaceCowboy @ Oct 1st 2009 11:28AM
Aww... but I had one of the best Kanye/Taylor jokes OF ALL TIME!
GiggMan @ Oct 1st 2009 11:08AM
Needs more Marvin Gaye and throw in some Earth Wind and Fire.
