Ex-Midway guy named VP of sales for Sega

Yes, Wildes' most recent gig was as VP of sales for North America and Asia at Midway, where he -- according to Sega, once again -- "successfully managed such titles as Mortal Kombat; Game Party; the Unreal franchise and NBA Ballers."
Midway is dead, friends, due in large part to low sales numbers for major franchises. Our definition of "successful" is obviously slightly different from that of Sega of America's.

Failure begets failure. Good job Sega! Keep hiring a lineage of success.

In the game industry, you fail upwards. If you are in charge of a few FAIL projects, they put you on to head a project that did well in the past so you can cause that one to FAIL as well. FAIL FAIL FAIL. Ok I'm done.

When you're the animated corpse of Sega, you have to take the detritus that you can get.

Kids, there's nothing more cool than being hugged by someone you like. But if someone tries to touch you in a place or in a way that makes you feel uncomfortable, THAT'S NO GOOD!

Sega, as your former CEO, I have one thing to say.

When Tom Kalinske is upset about something, you better watch the fuck out, this guy killed over nine thousand baby puppies with no remorse.
Just do your self the pleasure of killing yourself so Tom doesn't have to.
Tom Kalinske, CEO. @ Oct 1st 2009 8:45PM
It's true. If I had my way, Sega would have shut down operations after the failure of the Dreamcast. There's no point going on when your games are no longer desired.
Autobot @ Oct 1st 2009 8:50PM
you're god damn right tom
Dreamcast had some pretty awesome fucking games.

Sega doesn't need anymore bad assets. I don't know how much this guy had to do with Midway's failure, but I still wouldn't hire him to be a leader in the marketing department, maybe an associate.

And BTW, were you talking to JoyStiq or the (infamous) commenters of JoyStiq?

Well my OP was aimed at everyone including the author of this article. This response was aimed at the last responder to my comment who had nothing meaningful to say. And it cut off from the replies as often happens.

Whatever you say, borntokill, or should I say, Brad Wildes?!?!
SoCoolCurt (PSN: KillaKornbread - XBL: SoCoolCurt) @ Oct 1st 2009 11:24PM
i'll never understand how these guys continue to get jobs after their companies fail. sure i don't know all the details or his track record overall, but i do know that he was in a very high position in Midway....which just died. maybe i'm missing something but it must be nice to know that once you're that high up in a company once, you'll apparently always have a job.
mahouneko @ Oct 2nd 2009 12:27AM
Isn't this guy one of the many jokers who were responsible for profiting from deliberately running Midway into the ground?
Ridgecity @ Oct 2nd 2009 2:15AM
judging by your colorful language, you are not a business major also, are you?
borntokill @ Oct 2nd 2009 3:03AM
Degree in economics and I graduated from a business High School actually. But thats not really relevant.
captainprotonx @ Oct 2nd 2009 9:37AM
Let's not call it death until Sega and Ex-Midway powers unite to give use a true project that represents the unfortunate nature of this marriage.
There will be blood.
Mr Khan @ Oct 2nd 2009 10:30AM
So an executive from a company that failed to survive the transition from their dominance in the 90's is going to help head up a company that is heavily struggling to transition from their dominance in the 90's?
Not just that Midway failed, but Midway failed due to very similar problems as SEGA's.
