I'm well aware of that strategy. The problem is that game vouchers don't lead to anything else. The only money to be made for retailers is with memory sticks and accessories.

Considering the 16gb internal memory and the special manufacturer charger of the PSP, there is little need for accessories. So, unless you buy some candy or a dvd on the way out of Best Buy, they would make very little money stocking the PSP.

Basically, the incentive seems very low.

I'm sure the sales will be decent but not earth shattering in North America. Japan will probably see the most sales volume initially. I bet it'll be a hot item closer to Christmas, though. It's the newest, latest, greatest gadget.

I got my PSPgo for $100 today. All the rest of that money is going towards games.

I thought they confirmed PSN Game Cards in EU in the article above. Is it not true?

The funny thing is that just yesterday I was talking about ways to solve the retailer issues of the PSP Go on the PlayStation forums.

http://boardsus.playstation.com/playstation/board/message?board.id=psp&thread.id=3485197&view=by_date_ascending&page=1

I was originally suggesting download stations with the games preloaded onto a built-in hard drive. Then another person suggested the idea of gift cards for specific games.

...and here we are today! Glad to see Sony wasn't so arrogant to forget about the retail.

Concept is good but what sucks is the simple fact that pricing of these games will be controlled by Sony so chances of coming across a deal will be near impossible.
