if she did, i'd have to say that it's the worst trailer anyone could've created... then again, since it's rare they'll throw out something like this in a trailer, one could assume that she doesn't die (which is almost as bad as a spoiler).
it's like making an ff7 trailer and showing aerith's death.
other than that, the game doesn't make the wait for me any better. i've got vacation days lined up for this!

After watching the trailer last week, I was pretty surprised that they would show that. I can only hope that if it is true (which would be extremely stupid to spoil that for us), then it better be within the first few hours of gameplay. Please don't be a pivotal part later in the game.

"You think you DIE, and everything be suga' and raindows!!!!".
Laugh out loud. What a corny game. What has Final Fantasy become. I hate this new "lets try to have a futuristic political star warsy plot"

Yeah, 5 mins in that gets really spoilerific :-(
Needed less story, more gameplay, and that sweet fighting tune.

Seems like after FF8, ALL FF trailers have to start out looking at water with choral music.

While I can't wait for this game.
Does anyone else feel like they just beat the game after watching that trailer?
I sure did.

I thought the "minor" characters had the best dub, the bad guys.
Lightning and Snow was just annoying.
I thought i read somewhere that there would be english lip-sync as well, or is that just wishful thinking?

Ah, maybe that's why I though some scenes were better than others.
Thank you.

I agree. The sheer sappiness factor of this series caused me to leave for greener RPG pastures *bioware*cough* years ago.

Wow, the names are stupid in this games . . . Lightning? Snow?
So when this is released in Japan for PS3, will it have an English option like Demons Souls?

If I remember correctly, They named Lightning after Cloud (weather related shit) in an attempt to give the character some popularity, so they are similar in some ways.
That said, I also think the names are stupid.

Most of the main heroes since Cloud (I think) have had storm related names. Squall, Tidus. Zidane and Vaan bunk this but maybe they mean something stormish in another language.

Squall mean rain if I remember right so you've got the weather thing going there.

I wish America could take the game Dubs a little more seriously. FF loses its charm with this ones, yes I do prefer to hear the Original Japanese voices even if I had to do the extreme breathtaking effort to actually read the subtitles.

They did a good job with Lipsyncing and morphing to the audio, but man the dialogue... Do they have to suck out the feeling out of everything? The Japanese dialogue was much more deep and engaging compared to the dumbed down version for American audiences. Feels like they are mocking our intelligence. Some things are better when it's not Americanized for tweens.

I really do like posts like these, mostly because it's fun pointing out when someone has absolutely no idea what they're talking about.

The dialog and character personality looks just as bad here as it did in FFXII.
Did anyone honestly give a sh^& about the characters or the plot in FFXII? The combat mechanics were awesome (imo) and was the only reason to play the game. The characters were the worst out of any FF game, and I would have fallen asleep if the plot was mapped over to a movie.
This games characters look just as lifeless and boring as the last FF game. Please get back to characters and dialog that you can actually connect to on some level.

Heh, agreed. The battle system looks interesting, the CG looks beautiful, the j-pop music I could do without, and every time someone opens their mouth I want to cringe. The ones with accents are probably the worst, but that nasal-toned kid stands out as well. A subtitled Japanese-dialogue version would definitely make the game more compelling...
Ah well, I'm a fairly casual fan when it comes to JRPGs so I can't get too upset. Rent it, turn on the subtitles, and turn down the voice volume.

I couldn't make it the whole way through the trailer thanks to that TERRIBLE music. It had this very "American Idolish" sound to it. It made it really hard for me to take it seriously. I'm actually OK with the dubbing though, just because I think this is a quick and dirty job to get this thing out to the fans. I'm pretty sure the final game will be much better localized.

Even Final Fantasy cut-scenes aren't as long as MGS ones.
I don't mind long cutscenes, the only thing that annoyed me about the MGS4 ones (and it was still an awesome game) was that they often dragged on without anything really happening, and they had WAY, WAY too many fake dramatic death scenes without actually killing anyone.
Like seriously, how many fucking times did Raiden "die" to dramatic orchestral music?
