God of War III pitched as FPS; struck down

i think what he was trying to say is to have the same gow formula, but play it in first person mode, using the wands as the blades of chaos... i think its a pretty good idea, but it'd have to be done really well, and a lot of creativity needs to be involved to make it something decent and fun to play... definitely not similar to the quality of those eyetoy sports titles... oh and violence? hell yeah, i want the screen to go all red when i slice open a monster's neck, with its blood splashing all over the screen!!

but then, it all seems like it'll run out of juice very soon...

+1 I hate when a dev changes the way an IP plays. Why toy with the mechanics of a working equation that works instead of trying it in a new IP. Leave an IP what it is and improve on it without changing the mechanics. I'm looking at you Metroid Primes and every FF between X and XIII(still not sure about XIII until I play it).

A GTA style FPS would be fantastic. I'm looking at you Crysis.

When I originally read the article, I got the impression he was joking. At very least he clearly understands what that would do to the game.

I think that would be awesome. You can enjoy playing the same qte's all you want. But imagine if you were facing some main boss who has been a pain in your ass the whole game and as a finisher it switches to fp. Dismembering your enemy as Kratos in FP? Awesome. Maybe this could be applied to some of the fatalities in MK?

Nothings necessarily wrong with Metroid Prime, all 3 were great games, but overall they didn't really feel like Metroid. I mean, Shadow Complex on the XBLA reminded me a lot more of Super Metroid than Prime 3 did. The Prime games were extremely different than the older metroid games, and while they were good, if you were really a fan of the older style of gameplay, Prime doesn't deliver that.

If they had waited for Wet to go gold, and perhaps sold them in a Wet/Legendary Box two pack, I think the God of War crowd might have accidentally bought a billion copies.

Legendary was the probably the worst FPS ive played this generation, i cant even point to any specific problems, just all of it was so terrible

I dunno Wayne. Legendary was god awful terrible... But Darkest of Days came out this year. And let's not forget Turning Point before 'em both. It's a tough pickin the worst out of those 3 complete and utter failures.

Yeah, I can see some new IP doing this and doing some good/great/unique things with the viewpoint, but not God of War. Kratos is meant to be seen, not just handled.

A first person God of War would be pretty cool, I think. I'd love to see a Hexen-style game but enhanced and evolved.

The only thing i was excited about during the E3 motion control demo was the AWESOME sword/ bow & arrow demonstration. so yes, i hope they make a sweet game out of that. also, i think Sony can fire their marketing guys, they now have a great name for the motion controllers. "PS Wandy-Globe".

yea that was the Best use of the damn thing they shown....if they give it a good story I KNOW they can pull it off...
