XBL Indie Game Clover picked up by Blitz Game Studios for PC
That's right, Binary Tweed's watercolored Xbox Live Indie Game Clover is headed to the PC as Clover: A Curious Tale, courtesy of Blitz Game Studios. Developer Binary Tweed reports that the title is destined for digital distribution services and features a host of updates, including (direct from Binary Tweed's site):
[Via Casual Gaming]
- New animations - all characters are articulated, clouds move, flames smoke and glow, water splashes, cats snore (!);
- Completely voice-acted dialogue;
- A new sub-quest, and multiple endings;
- New puzzles, characters, and items (25% more items last time I checked);
- New context-sensitive controls - this means no clumsy inventory menu;
- Completely revised user interface;
- Better player handling, and less annoyingly fiddly jumps;
- Translations in French, Italian, German and Spanish;
- Reworked soundtrack - longer, sexier.

Looks kinda lame.

Woa, lucky guy. I gotta check out this game on the xbox.

This game is highly underrated. I found out about it from the IGN finalists list. Played the demo and loved it, but haven't bought the game yet. Maybe I'll pick it up this weekend.
I wonder if the improved version on PC will eventually come to XBLA?

Well, I'm not surprised. Quite honestly, the game is shit and there is nothing unique about it.
It seems like a copout movie to blame it on the 360 community games because there have been a ton of other games like Weapon of Choice, and even I Made a Game With Zombies in It that sell pretty well.

I'm a little surprised that someone is picking this game up - the demo was not terribly impressive and the poor art style didn't help it at all.
Don't get me wrong, it's great that an independent developer is getting picked up like this, I just wish it could happen to some of the better Xbox Indie games.

Ugh, the art is definitely an instant turn-off... looks like some sort of shoddy webcomic.
Neuromancer @ Oct 2nd 2009 4:09PM
I only wish the developer had been a little less subtle in how the story is an allegory of the George W. Bush administration. I almost missed it altogether.

Can we please stop hearing about this game already? The art style looks straight out of 5th grade, the story is self-important, and the developer acts as though the mere fact that he made a game entitles him to money and success. Why not shine the light on a GOOD game that didn't do well, there are dozens, if not hundreds of them to choose from, and hopefully I speak for more than myself when I say ENOUGH CLOVER!
CH3BURASHKA @ Oct 2nd 2009 4:42PM
Cool story bro.
Tha0racle @ Oct 2nd 2009 5:20PM
Actually looks pretty cool to me
AmishPhysicist @ Oct 2nd 2009 6:24PM
tried the demo, couldn't get past the art and the "fiddly jumping". If ya can't make good art, do it with boxes! You'll fool idiots like me who hunger for nostalgia.
Kamaka @ Oct 2nd 2009 7:08PM
looks like ill have to try this out!

Is there really a market for this? There were games with infinitely better graphics on the SNES. Not that graphics totally make or break a game, but why would I want to play a game as John from Garfield if he was homeless? Not appealing.
