So, you've had a little trouble understanding the ins and outs of Brütal Legend's expansive multiplayer mode. Don't be embarrassed -- it's a little difficult to wrap your mind around. Fortunately, Double Fine recently released a trailer explaining the rules, regulations and terms of victory of the epic multiplayer skirmishes in Tim Schafer's heavy metal brainchild. Watch the training video above, and start studying up on your stage-smashing tactics.
As a side note, if Double Fine doesn't call this multiplayer mode "GwarCraft," we might just boycott the game.

I was thinking sacrifice more so than overlord. It was more of an RTS game then overlord with different types of units while you are the leader commanding them. It is what overlord kind of reminds me of as well. Sacrafice came out in 2001 well before overlord was realized.

I was thinking the same thing when I finished playing the Brutal Legend demo and they ran those clips of the MP. "Man, this is going to play a lot like Sacrifice." Then I thought back to Sacrifice and remembered it being pretty fun if seriously inclined to micromanagement. THEN I remembered that Tim Curry did the voice for Stratos, one of the gods in Sacrifice, and he's doing the voice of head bad guy Doviculus in Brutal Legend, and my MIND WAS BLOWN.
...well, not really, but it's a neat little coincidence.

I'm not too sure about this game. I want to like it, but is it worth getting over other games? I love Dethklok and Tim Schafer games, but I think MW 2 and Dragon Age will end up taking my money.
I hope it turns out being a bigger success than Psychonauts. That game was a huge sleeper.

I really like how Double Fine tried to do something different with Brutal Legend's multiplayer. It's not just another tacked-on deathmatch, it's a pretty unique mode that really fits with the game.

So... I've been on the fence about this game for a while (mostly because of its metal theme, and I'm not a metalhead), and then I tried its demo... I was entranced by how good it was, especially its decidedly Schafer-esque comedy.
Then I saw this trailer, and how bad-ass the multiplayer looks... So, honestly, I'm pretty much sold.

If the game doesn't sell, Double Fine should release some DLC where you have to traverse an arctic tundra for whatever reason... probably to kill some demons, and to rock out.
DO YOU GET IT!?

Same here. It was funny and had it's moments but I can't help but think this would make a better animated movie. Jack Black was great from what I could tell and I would like to know how the story ends. I just don't see myself buying this game (maybe renting) it's just to damn easy and predictable. My son is 7 and beat the demo on Brutal his first try.

First of all, the demo is the first few minutes of the game. No matter what difficulty you're playing on it's going to be really easy when you start out and ramp up as you go along, so I'm sure Brutal difficulty is more demanding as you actually get further into the game.
Secondly, this game is all about atmosphere and being badass, if you just want a challenge go play battletoads.

Hey thats fine, go out and buy two copies. As far as my dollars are concerned I'm not going to spend $60 for a hack and slash when there is so much more coming down the pipe line.
I admitted that I like the story and the characters. You also have a point about the difficulty, although I don't see it getting harder just cheaper as you go. I will get around to renting this game and I hope it does well. The art style and production value deserve to be put on a pedestal just not the game play.

Yeah, but I've learned that you shouldn't judge a game by it's demo.
Good impression? They may have just shoved the good parts, the rest is mediocre.
Bad impressions? They show you the first parts of the game, where you don't have awesome powers or freedom at all, and you need to be walked through it. The rest of the game is awesome.
So, I'll hold my verdict till I played the full game.
Although I had a problem with the sound, the sound quality (other then the voices) were bad, hope that is just something to compress the demo-size.

@Viking Yeah i had that as well. Everything was muffled except for the voices and the swing of the Axe. Was pretty annoying. Ive already preordered the game, but i hope its fixed in the full version. Not a big problem, but a niggling one all the same.

Yah, quite easy, and I don't go for the bad-ass heavy metal schtick (though I realize it's tongue-in-cheek). I like the characters though -- Jack Black's character and that hot chick.

I personally am not a fan of metal either, but I just can't help to like the game with its tongue-and-cheek humor and its overall presentation. So far, I like what I'm seeing.

Something tells me that if this same trailer was for a non Tim Schafer game, it would have been a roast in the comments. The multiplayer looks bland and shallow to me. Let's not forget that Schafer set out and designed the multiplayer first for this game before there were any characters or story; five years ago. The multiplayer design for this was thought up before Psychonauts was released. So, yes, I'm very much wary about this aspect of the game given the changes in game design and expectations.

In all honesty, I was convinced this would be a single-player only game.
The fact that there is a multiplayer mode is like a cherry on top.

This game has been hyped to all hell and back, and judging by the demo played, it feels all a bit too thin on the gameplay mechanics side. However, the music soundtracks are fricken awesome!!
Unfortunately, it's not enough to warrant a purchase from me as yet, maybe I'll just wait and get it on the cheap.

I didn't even know this game had multiplayer until a few days ago. It looks... interesting. Regardless of whether or not the mp will be any goof (I think it will be) I'll still be getting this game. The demo was so much fun and the game's main story mode is just gonna be awesome

This is to Halo is Gawd, but wanted to make it an independent post. Rather than saving $5 by buying it used at Gamestop and not supporting the devs at all, why don't you buy it on Amazon... Sign up for the ECA for free (use the code GIMAG) then use the 10% off coupon you get from the ECA. Right there, it's $52.30 shipped. If you sign up for the free month trial of Amazon Prime, you could get the game delivered to your house on release day! Not to mention, when you buy it on Amazon for the already low price, you get a $10 game credit. That could go towards something like MW2. So when you get Modern Warfare 2, just make another code from the ECA, use your $10 coupon, and it'll only be $44. I think everyone should sign up for the ECA while it's still free and hop on deals like this. $44 for MW2 with release day delivery is an awesome deal, and I'm definitely going to take advantage of it. Sorry if this seemed off topic, I just wanted to show Halo is Gawd it's easy to save money while still supporting devs

This just sounds awesome. It seems like it's going to be a Strategy game. Kinda like an RTS and Overlord/Pikmin mixed together. I'm really excited to see how it plays out.

I am actually a little surprised that GWAR doesn't appear to have any in-game appearances or tracks included. It's pretty much a digitization of all the goofy story-centric DVDs and themed albums they've released over the last quarter century. Mind you they did headline that concert promoting the game, so you can see that as a bit of a nod, but still. Will there never be a Gwar game?

I agree though. There's enough backstory to make a hell of a game.
