Modern Warfare 2 Achievements and Trophies revealed
Our fingers have turned to goopy nubs as a result of our transcription of the Achievements and Trophies in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. We didn't keep an exact tally of the accomplishments therein, but we're fairly certain the total number approaches eight skajillion. You'll find the efforts of our toils listed after the jump -- be wary, there are a few minor spoilers in there. For instance, at some point during the game, you kill a bunch of terrorists. Stop the presses!

I feel like I'm the only one not excited for Modern Warfare 2.
But hope you have fun when you play it, though.
SpaceFox @ Oct 4th 2009 11:40AM
I'm not excited for it either. Probably not buying it, with Uncharted 2 and Crack in Time coming out so soon.
KrisR @ Oct 4th 2009 11:41AM
Yeah you probalby are.
Jerk Face @ Oct 4th 2009 11:42AM
Did you play the first one? Because if you did, you would be.
Ranben @ Oct 4th 2009 11:43AM
I did play the first one, just didn't pull me in.
Played it on both PC and PS3 too. Still no dice.
commen-cents @ Oct 4th 2009 11:46AM
im with you, ill play it eventually but its in no way a day one buy for me...
The Pirate @ Oct 4th 2009 11:48AM
Yeah. Ive played and finished all Call of Duty games (I even got the Platinum trophy on COD WAW!), COD4 was by far the worst. It just didn't pull me in. I wont be buying COD6 either (I wont call it Modern Warfare 2 as its COD6!)
SpaceFox @ Oct 4th 2009 11:49AM
I did play COD4, but..... I didn't like it.... *puts up flame shield*
Like Ranben said, it just didn't pull me in. I was already too accustomed and too addicted to Bad Company to get into it. The gameplay felt arcade-y and I'd already been used to vehicles and destruction and the lack of those just prevented me from enjoying it much.
JoeStillLife @ Oct 4th 2009 11:50AM
i'm not excited for it. i never even played a single Call Of Duty game.
cuteSAVAGE @ Oct 4th 2009 11:52AM
@ The Pirate: That's like saying "I won't call it Super Mario World as it's 'Super Mario Bros. 4!'" You have to pick your battles mate.
Eric B @ Oct 4th 2009 11:53AM
Thats because you didn't play it on Xbox 360 and had the great Live experience that keeps you addicted
OR
You just plan suck at COD
Ranben @ Oct 4th 2009 11:54AM
That's not nice Eric B.
I just don't like the game.
B0E0S @ Oct 4th 2009 11:58AM
You're not alone. I played it, but didn't think it was as good as people made it sound. I'll also be playing Uncharted 2. I don't need to spend $60 on another game this holiday.
atrimus @ Oct 4th 2009 12:05PM
while i don't agree, i completely understand. i sometimes feel i'm the only person on earth who doesn't swear by Half-Life or Valve (and let's not ghost me for that admission, okay?).
MW2? yeah, i'm awaiting it. not nearly as much as Uncharted 2, but still. i've had my Hardened Edition reserved for a few months now.
as for what EricB's talking about, well, its unfortunate that type of one-sided blindness managed escape 2007.
Obie @ Oct 4th 2009 12:11PM
Leave Ranben alone!!!
Seriously, he is allowed to not care for it. I on the other hand plan to scream like a 10 year old girl at a Jonas brother concert when I get the game in my hands. :p
See? It balances out! ;)
Chris D.(PSN: Aggie_CEO | XBL:The Aggie CEO | Steam: Aggie_CEO @ Oct 4th 2009 12:12PM
I'm not that excited....I will gamefly it for a month maybe two....
Tiptup300 @ Oct 4th 2009 12:12PM
I'm glad someone said it. I just can't get into COD4. It's a very quality game. It has fantastic graphics, gameplay, and overall build quality. Well the lobby system seems a bit sketchy, but other then that a great game.
I just don't like it.
SpaceFox @ Oct 4th 2009 12:14PM
I got downvoted? D:
I really just did not like COD4, is that a crime now?
Rozy @ Oct 4th 2009 12:15PM
I am also not excited about this game, but I felt compelled to click on the article and leave an asinine comment telling how I could care less about this game......cough cough....xcuse me....
DirtyMango @ Oct 4th 2009 12:18PM
Oh really now, Eric B? In order to have fun with COD you HAVE to play it Xbox Live???? Let me inform you that I've not yet encountered any slowdown at all on the PS Network, the online experience is very smooth on almost every game(KOF XII excluded)...I'm glad you had fun with Live but it's not the only service where you can have a good online experience.
Kris120890 @ Oct 4th 2009 12:24PM
You got down ranked because people didn't agree with you. Thats the whole point of High ranking and Down ranking. Personaly can't wait. Bought Fifa 10 today for £25 tide me over until MW2 come. Got it pre-ordered.
The Dark Wayne [Planeteer: Power of the Batusi] @ Oct 4th 2009 12:27PM
@tiptup I could never see how people said CoD 4 had amazing graphics. Great maybe, but not mindblowing. I think the grass and dirt was probably the worst ive ever seen, especially considering you spend an entire mission crawling through it. The people just looked...plasticy or rubbery as well.
gobo @ Oct 4th 2009 12:28PM
Don't forget how every bit of geometry in the game meets at a right angle, Dark Wayne. Flat surfaces are boring.
Obie @ Oct 4th 2009 12:31PM
Ya know the MW engine is not perfect, I love that it runs at a steady 60, with some of the best atmospherics/particle effects I have seen on a console. Now the Halo engine I have issues with, sure it renders huge visuals, but the characters are really, really awful. I mean I was cringing in those ODST cutscenes, they look seriously almost Wii quality.
But hey, maybe it's just me.
nintendo fanboy hater @ Oct 4th 2009 12:42PM
ranben i'm with you. my reason is the rival game that must not be named... because flame wars start after its mentioning. Not that it is a dark wizard or dark lord of mordor.
Nathan-DTS [He is your father] @ Oct 4th 2009 1:30PM
I thought the campaign was shit and the multiplayer took no skill. The only reason I liked WaW was zombies.
UK31337 @ Oct 4th 2009 1:44PM
Probably a rental for me. Each CoD is almost identical to the one before it (now that Treyarch are using the CoD4 engine the gap is even narrower) and I've never liked CoD's multiplayer.
xFenixKnightx @ Oct 4th 2009 2:53PM
Ranben
IW and Modern Warfare Rules! You are a weirdo. Go play a niche game. That is all.
343 Guilty Fart @ Oct 4th 2009 4:39PM
I'm with Ranben, I find the CoD series a bit boring. Just not for me.
The Baron @ Oct 4th 2009 5:25PM
CoD is very good, there's no denying that. But I've been playing the series and a lot of other games for years, and it just didn't strike me as the incredible masterpiece everyone thought it was.
SolidSnakeX @ Oct 4th 2009 6:59PM
Wow 54 Trophies is quite a bit but I like it! I'm just hoping there is no damn cheaters or people who only like to stand there and camp! And if you do those things your a damn coward!.....Hey people go back to the 80's the real gamer days when you couldn't Cheat!
CheeziePotato (PSN: talic10 | XBL: InfiniteMovie) @ Oct 4th 2009 7:08PM
SolidSnakeX, I don't think you've ever heard of the Game Genie.
maveric101 @ Oct 5th 2009 12:36AM
@Rozy
the whole point of the comments section is for people to voice their opinions on the material of the blog post, whether they are positive or negative. comment sections aren't supposed to be a huge circle-jerk over the game at hand.
and...
@kris12whatever
comments shouldn't be down-ranked unless they are for some reason invalid, i.e. the person is just coming across as a total douch, fanboy, or whatever. like Eric B and his comment about how the person didn't like it because they didnt play it on live.
KrisR @ Oct 4th 2009 11:39AM
Must not read!
Prof. Von Manifest of the Clan McCloud (illogical logic is still logical) @ Oct 4th 2009 12:08PM
I'm with you.
I hate spoilers!
The Dark Wayne [Planeteer: Power of the Batusi] @ Oct 4th 2009 12:23PM
really? you're worried about this games story? Come on.
Prof. Von Manifest of the Clan McCloud (illogical logic is still logical) @ Oct 4th 2009 12:59PM
Yeah.
I know most will play it just for the multiplayer, but thought was put into the single player as well.
This isn't some halo game with a typical story.
Silicon Siren @ Oct 4th 2009 1:59PM
@The Dark Wayne
The singleplayer experience has been the only part of COD that isn't generic and tired. It is always something fresh and exciting.
Durden @ Oct 4th 2009 2:35PM
It won't spoil anything unless "snowy mountain side base" tells you something.
The Dark Wayne [Planeteer: Power of the Batusi] @ Oct 4th 2009 3:06PM
yeah, sorry it is. It's the same made for tv, Tom Clancy, 24 plot we've watched a billion times
Donald @ Oct 4th 2009 4:29PM
Snape kills Dumbledore.
Discotheque @ Oct 4th 2009 7:00PM
Batman's right. I'm not really amazed by the COD storyline. Now that it's been taken out of World War 2 and into fictional battles it's turned into 24 meets Tom Clancy. "Zakhaev"? Sounds like they just pulled the name out of Jack Bauer's bag.
Sure the campaign will be fun, but the story won't be.
Weirdo93 @ Oct 4th 2009 8:32PM
yea like i wish the story was actually based off of a real war - maybe the gulf war? or the war Black Hawk Down took place in (i kno and im sorry for not knowing) - i mean i kno they're heated wars and topics but i like ultra-realism (as long as its still fun)
when cod4 came out i thot wow its modern? how cool! but then i found out it wasnt a real war and i wasnt exactly turned on by it - so i rented it.... after a couple of days of playing and sucking horribly i bot it (but loving it for some reason) and got a lot better mad soon and actually really liked the game.... after about a year i sold it - got bored... pissed off at how arcadey the game was and all that
then i bot cod waw and loved it - new setting in ww2 and all that w/ really fun multiplayer co-op options!! but then i played the game on veteran to get all the trophies (and i eventually did) and i realized how much i hated the story and then i sold it
now and again i regret selling the 2 games but im happy with everything that has happened between me and the cod games
im mainly interested in uncharted 2 so im not gonna buy mw2 day 1 - imma rent it 1st like i did cod4

Silicon Siren @ Oct 4th 2009 8:41PM
@The Dark Wayne
Notice I said singleplayer experience not the story, I'm not sure the last time a video game had a riviting story and it certainly wasn't a "war" game.
Weirdo93 @ Oct 4th 2009 8:46PM
sorry for the double post - i wasn't sure if my message was going thru and for some reason the site was acting as if i was a new reader
The Dark Wayne [Planeteer: Power of the Batusi] @ Oct 4th 2009 9:00PM
@Siren Don't get semantic, the story is part of the singleplayer experience and the story is definitely tired and unoriginal. And if you haven't played a game with a riveting story you've haven't played some of the best games ever, and yeah, they had wars in them.
MRLN @ Oct 4th 2009 11:42AM
Another downside to being primarily a PC and Nintendo gamer... No trophies. Dammit, where's the money for my PS3?
I take paypal.
MRLN @ Oct 4th 2009 1:03PM
Darn. I was under the impression people loved giving away money to people who don't need it.
SpaceFox @ Oct 4th 2009 11:51AM
Just wondering, but is Special Ops online? Cause if it's not, then I'm not seeing any online trophies/achievements.
