I'm not buying this, unless it's a downloadable add-on to the original disc
because frankly...
I'm not buying the same game twice, whoever thought of this idea is big jerk.
I used to really like capcom for their games but now this marketing push for new content there doing with re5 and sf4 really grinds my gears.

Just give us DLC and release it as a GOTY version with a DLC code in the sleeve or something.

So how much will alternative edition's versus cost?

I think there's a more important question here: Since the Spencer Mansion exploded at the end of RE1, how the hell are BSAA-employed Chris and Jill going there?

Dont forget the RE3 nuke, theres no way in hell this is the same mansion, if it is it isn't canon (hence: alternative)

I did play RE5 and I'm aware that Chris and Jill fought Wesker in what looked like a castle on a cliff which is why I found it strange when the screenshots show the foyer of the Spencer Mansion. Guess we'll just have to wait for the expansion to find out.

I'd rather take a disc with only the extra content at a reasonable price. But I would probably get it as DLC if that happens. And please also release the SFIV new content as DLC.

Are they putting in more than just motion controls? They could do a sort of Ninja Gaiden Sigma thing, and make it a worthwhile full retail release.

What I would like to see is a DLC release for RE5 Alternative Edition.
As well as a retail disc.

Release like a RE5 GOTY edition or something into that has all the DLC already on it and such.

That way new players can buy the game and get it all in one go.

While early adopters of RE5 can just download the DLC and play with the new players. Everyone wins

You know Capcom has the money to do this considering most of the time they prefer retail releases for anything compared to DLC.

I already own RE5, it's not as good as 4 IMO. BUT, if we get to play through a section of RE1 in the 5 engine, I will buy the game all over again, shamelessly... They should just get it over with already and remake RE2 in the new engine ^_^

Oh, and offer the new content online for ten bucks so you don't screw over people with the original disc. That's my response to the actual post. I'm kinda pissed the motion controller support hasn't been announced as DLC for the original disc. The game will be 10x better with motion controller support if RE4Wii is any indication, and I've been calling for a Wiimote for the PS3 just for RE5 since way before its release :P

Think about this for a second. We can either have one disc and some DLC, or we can have two discs.

In scenario #1, everyone buys one retail copy and can still get access to the expansion material on the cheap. Those who haven't bought the game can make up for the cost of the expansion by buying used for cheap.

In Scenario #2, those why buy the newer disc get all of the content at once, but for the same basic price as they would in scenario #1... but the people who bought the original copy either get screwed out of content, have to waste money on a rental, or go to the hassle of selling their retail disc and buying the new disc.

Personally, DLC sounds like the WAY more fair choice for consumers, and a whole new disc sounds like it just profits Capcom more while alienating a large portion of their customer base. No brainer??? I think so.

Just so you all know, the new mission isn't a retelling of the original mission. It's the Spencer Mansion that they find Wesker in. It just happens to be an identical building to the original building.

I've been thinking, and the only thing I want is for Capcom to work with Suda51 and re-release Killer 7 on the wii. I think the rail-shooter like mechanics would be perfect.

Yea, I'm not a huge fan of the Wii either. Overall I've been really dissapointed in the console, but Killer 7 was one of those games that was truly unique. One of the biggest complaints about it was the controls. It's most like a rail shooter, and those just work better on the wii than any other console. I would easily buy it again for the upgraded controls.

I'm confused. If Capcom released it as DLC would that imply it's an add-on and not a standalone re-release? because I've never played RE5 and if the director's cut is a re-release in the vein of previous RE's I'll wait for that, but if it's a dlc add-on, I could buy the normal edition sooner.

I would like my alternate copy of RE5 to not completely blow chunks, and sully the good name that was resident evil. We can start by axing the computer controller co-op. Then you can eliminate ALL puzzles, as they do not require you to think at all, just run in circles. Then delete the humanoid Wesker. What the fuck is up with all these viruses? It was cool when it was t-cell and g-cell, but really how many companies are making super soldier zombie viruses? It's getting a bit retarded. Make Chris and Jill look like the real Chris and Jill. Make only 1 gun of each type, I don't want 4 pistols and 5 shotguns, and 7 sub machine guns. Just one powerful gun in each category that I can upgrade. If you are going to make it an action game, make the ammo more bountiful. I can't count how many times i ran out of ammo and just had to run away. This is no longer survival horror, it is an action game and i want to be able to kill everything! Either get rid of the treasure, or make them able to combine the treasure again. If you can't combine treasures it is pointless, just give gold. It saves me from having to sell garbage for ten minutes...... And bigger boobs for Sheva.

That's only the tip of the iceberg. Shinji Mikami is rolling over in his grave..... errrr mansion right now. Oh wait that is right, he never played it. He never played it in fear he would find something he didn't like. He was right, trust your instincts.

I would want the content on a disc no matter what, but I especially want RE5:AE on-disc because I originally bought the 360 version and this time around I would get the PS3 version for the motion controls. So, I'd be re-buying the game anyway.

Hell, I already own GTA4 and the first DLC for it, but I'm getting the disc version with DLC 1 and 2 this month because a) I much prefer a physical copy and b) I don't have any more room on the damn 360 HDD for it anyway.

my first reaction is to say dlc, which is convenient and easy for most people. Those who don't have the game right now can pick it up for 45 -50 dollars used or even around 30 for the collectors edition which is on clearance at Best Buy if they can't wait for a disc based game.

Eventually though I could see Capcom releasing this add on as well as the versus unlock as a Special or Game of the year edition of the game for those who want to buy the game for the first time. Maybe even work out a deal with Sony to have it as a bundle for their wand. You know Sony is going to be releasing the wand in bundles with either a game / eye toy / voucher for a game etc etc. Everyone wins.

Personally I am against releasing this as an add on disc for any system because I hated ...hated switching discs in and out of my system for Oblivion and eventually traded in both copies of the game for the GOTY edition. Also why waste the money releasing it on disc when you can save time , money and hell the environment when you can release it as dlc at first for those of us who have it and later as a GOTY edition for those who don't.

fuck a complete overhaul, fuck a return to its roots, the best thing they could do right now is a combo: remake RE1&2 with the new engine, without fucking up the story and the balance, just remake the old games with the new awesome engines. Better story, creepier atmosphere, better gameplay, better graphics, better everything.

RE:Degeneration is 3 bucks on the App Store, that's kinda like a return to the roots... it's got real zombies...:P

I'm torn. If it was DLC, I'd buy it and play through the game a few more times. If it was a disk, I could ostensibly rent it from Gamefly, since the replay value will be limited.

I think I'm a bit confused. The Alternative Edition is the so called Director's Cut, or are those two different real versions that exist? and assuming it's the same thing, what else besides the mansion mission does the Alternative Edition have? does it have Versus included? anything else?

For PS3 I'd like a disc version (seeing I don't own the PS3 original version) and for Xbox 360 I'd like DLC... because I own the original Xbox 360 version and wouldn't pay for another Disc for the extra content especially since it won't include the Motion control shooting like the PS3 version ala RE4 Wii.

Wait, Capcom is asking it's fans what extra content we want in RE5 Alternate Edition? I smell a repeat of the time they released Mega Man X Collection where they promissed a bunch of stuff us fans wanted through poll votes and didn't deliver a single one of them.

They really ought to follow the example that Fallout 3 has used. Release DLC and an expansion disc and later on make a GOTY edition with the full game and DLC.

Seems simple to me. Release the content as DLC and a few months later release RE5 "Platinum Edition" or whatever you want to call it for full price with ALL the DLC content on a second disc.

I was thinking about what enemies there will be in this version and i remembered that in the real game when they meet the enemies Chris said that he hadn't seen any zombies like that. Then he couldn't have met that kind of enemy in the mansion. Therefore its not impossible that there will be zombies in the mansion =D
