Konami 'aggressively' looking into motion control for PES series

As we all know, soccer is the most fatiguing activity any human can participate in, so we expect that a Natal-ized version of PES would be appropriately taxing. However, given the sport's limited employment of hands, we'd be curious to see how Sony's motion-sensing peripheral would be utilized. There are few pieces of gaming hardware we'd outright refuse to give a fair shot, but shoe adapters might just be beyond our capacity for humiliation.

you know, Fifa is due for a massive recoding. It's a great game, but once you play PES, you see how old the game is. It's the same game since 1998. The only thing that changes over the years are the ball physics, some years it floats, some years it feels like it's filled with water, jersey textures and the default camera p.o.v., but all of the previous p.o.v. are included.

In my opinion,
PES does not have good AI.
And for soccer(football) games, I think AI is crucial.
Because the players need to make space and use space.
And to do that, each player needs to think and move according to players position.(including opponents team too)
And that requires a really good AI to do it.
I think PES lacks it. The movement of the whole team is not like real life soccer.
Some players head back to the goal line in PES 2010 demo, some don't even use space... You can see that in videos uploaded on Youtube.
I really played PES alot on PS2, but on next-gen consoles,
FIFA is just better... Konami should make AI improvement their priority, instead of team licenses.
Or maybe the PES team doesn't have good programmer.
In that case they could just make it compatible with the motion controller like this article says. The user can do all the off-the-ball like the PES on Wii.
That way, the AI doesn't have to be that intelligent.

AI was kinda the whole selling point for PES, but recently FIFA has upped their game and really has some quality gameplay now.

FIFA 10 doesnt have good AI either. Players still run in straight lines and dont try to lose defenders. They also lazily make their way up field as you sprint down the sides hoping for a player to get their ass in the box so you can cross.
While FIFA is much better than PES I dont think either games have good offensive AI.

Maybe it's just me, but soccer isn't about just rushing to take the ball from the other guy, once you get a certain level of athletes, those guys will jump over your defense move, that's why running towards your defensive position, where the other guys are close so you don't leave a hole in defense, then you attack, it's how most professional players move.
Running towards the ball is actually dumb AI or at least created by someone that isn't watching how football is played in the big leagues. Of course, there are still impulsive young players that serve as cannon fodder for the big guns to display their moves.

I played a lot PES on PS2 as well and the advantage they had over FIFA was an steady framerate and fast paced startegy and players, FIFA just seemed a lot slower on PS2... Then I played FIFA on PS3 and it was far better than PES on PS3, PES on PS3 seems like the bastard son of previous PES PS2 titles, its slower and not very accurate...
FIFA on PS3 just has much more flow along the plays and makes a pretty good job with accuracy...
I love PES but FIFA 2010 it's going to be my next purchase instead of PES...

Amen!! I saw the words "Konami agressivly looking to" & got excited but my hopes were crushed. Cause we all know how popular a motion controlled soccer video game would be over MGS4 trophies.

Not till de 100GB Blu-ray Disc Edition Kojima will make with Theater mode, and a bunch of missions, and characters to play with... Then that version will have the trophies :D

PES works on Wii pretty effectively (granted it gets a bit too easy after a while), there is no reason why it would not work for these consoles too.

Hm-- Yes. And while you're playing the game on Natal, you kick the soccer-ball and your shoe comes flying off and hits the television set breaking it and then a lawsuit is filed against Microsoft. Ah yes..... Then Microsoft will have to give out clips that attach your shoe to hold tight against your leg. Yup.

PES on WII really sucks with that crapy motion controller stuff! Now konami wants to destroy the PES on PS3 with this crap?! Moving to EA's FIFA...
